Apple stores give me douche chills. Man, the employee:customer ratio is creepy. The zealoutry is creepy.

I'm still telling my mom to get an iPhone so that she can go bug them for hours on end instead of call me with issues.

And, OS aside, the MBA is pretty much a perfect machine for what it is. Overbuilt and overpriced? Maybe. But PC manufacturers have been having serious issues giving low weight machines that still have good power, good battery life and good input devices. That whole Ultrabook concept by Intel was supposed to solve these issues but it didn't.

I think the Zenbook supposedly still has a terrible trackpad.

I read reviews that said they rolled out a new version a few months after the first one that was better. But I don't feel like waiting for it. Screw them.

Also, I know I already said this, but I want to harp on it a little: shopping for a Mac is fucking great. I stuck my head in the Apple store today to do a price check and see if they can do an 8GB Air on site with EPP pricing. The Air was totally unlocked and ready to be played with so I could peek at the screen and see if I liked how it looked and how well I could read the text. I summoned a retail guy by pressing a button on their iPad, and he was really friendly and told me everything I needed to know, no upsell or anything. PCs have nothing like this. Nothing. It's so crucial. I know you can try shit out in a Best Buy or Walmart, but half of those lock you out of regular usage, or make you find the "try me" button in their stupid spec screen. It's such an awful shopping experience for one of the few things you really ought to shop for in person.

0% interest makes me hold my nose and buy my Mac at Best Buy.

Yeah! Fuck you!

In all honesty you probably got a shitty sales person who is way too invested in the company. You want a macbook air? Fine. I don't care. You don't want the protection plan? I don't give a shit. I'll explain it to you because I have to but if you say no I'm not going to beat you over the head with it.

I bought one laptop from best buy and never had a problem with them other than it was overpriced. Never had an issue with bait and switch with them. My current laptop I bought direct from HP and only because I had a 30% off coupon which saved me over $500 dollars off the final price. Throw in deals they had for free upgrades and I ended up getting my laptop for a very reasonable price. Still hate buying store/prebuilt machines though. I like having total control over my build. Unfortunatly can't do that with laptops. The thing that really pissed me off is that they wouldn't give me a copy of the OS I paid for. Their excuse was that there's a recovery partition on the drive. After two weeks of calling and arguing I gave up.

Pretty much. That, or they aren't being trained properly. I tell people the benefits of what we sell. If you don't want it, cool - your money. I get paid by the hour, so the only benefit I get from people getting protection plans or credit cards from me is not getting hassled by my bosses.

"Ok, I'll take this Asus. It's a good machine."
"Cool. Let me just get it. Ok, that'll be $1050."
"Um, it's $800 on the price tag over there."
"Oh, that's for the i5. This has the i7 in it, so it's extra."
"I want the i5."
"We don't have those in stock."
"Then why is it on display for with that price tag? Why isn't the i7 and it's price featured, or at least mentioned as an option, or something?"
"I dunno."

OK. That guy's an asshole. He should have told you first that the computer you wanted was not in stock and asked if you wanted to order one.

I guess you and D are just cool or something, because every person I've ever had to talk to at BB has been a completely disinterested moron. And why does Best Buy hate Ultrabooks? They never have anything light in stock. It's all clunky shit tanks.

My store has six ultrabooks. Three Samsungs, Adele a Dell, Toshiba and Asus.

Then again I work in the third largest store in the country.

There's a kids' furniture store down the road from our house. If I don't stop making that crack every time we drive past it, I think that I may end up sleeping in a racing car.

At this point in my life I've accepted that only 1 out of every 100 people I meet has a clue what I do for a living, so I've begun just summing up my job as a big wheel down at the cracker factory.

About an equal proportion of people recall that episode, so I get just as many blank stares, but there's less to explain.

Oh, it's got to be among my absolute favorites. I still laugh to the point of tears when Bart hits Homer with the chair in the bathtub.

Yeah, that's what happens when a lot of your sales associates are people around my and Eric's age. 18-23 year olds are generally disinterested idiots. It sucks, but that's what happens when you offer pay between $8 and $9 and no commission. You lose most of the pushiness, but you increase laziness and stupidity. It sounds like whoever you were talking to was just a shithead. I would never think of pulling that kind of crap.

I have to say video games for the Apple are hard to come by. One of my favorite games before i got a Mac was Sins of a Solar Empire. Awesome, incredible game. I was hoping that the second one would also be for the Mac, annnnnnnnnd.........it's not sad.gif

Yep.........

BUT, i still love this Mac. I think i've had it for....what...four..five years now. Runs the same as it did since day 1. Love it. I went through two PCs in five years (granted they were cheap from Dell).

Nonetheless, that game i said there is just unbelievable. I was so hooked on it.
