Tyson Chandler for 4 years 50 mil. Cool?

Nope, Wilson is still miserable over here in China. Don't have any idea why he thought he would like it though...

Apparently Marbury loves it though.

Stephon Marbury put his life on a webcam that was posted on this forum like 2-3 years ago. Of course he loves China.

Sources said that a group of NBA owners, assembled in New York for the ratification of the league's new labor pact with the players, protested vigorously that the league-owned Hornets were trading Paul to the star-studded Lakers and convinced NBA commissioner David Stern to intervene.

I agree, but the league should totally go the Bush v. Gore route and come out and say this won't be precedent it was done because we are just coming out of a lockout and was a special circumstance.

Are you fucking serious? OTHER OWNERS BLOCKED THE DEAL BECAUSE LA WAS GETTING BETTER!? No conflict of interest there.

The Lakers, Rockets and Hornets are appealing the decision and Chris Paul and the players union is suing the NBA in Federal Court.

Not really since no other team is owned by the NBA besides New Orleans.

It was a good trade for NO. The NBA blocked it seemingly out of keeping the league competitive

There are too many teams and that is not the players fault. They want to win and the fastest way is to get to a stacked team. They become free agents and that's what they do. The teams that own them scramble to get value before they leave, but only another superstar can replace a superstar. And that doesn't happen.

These "smaller market" teams can only hope that they build well via the draft. But there are not that many superstars coming out. To me...if they can't compete for players then they shouldn't be carried by the rest of the league.

But they'll never contract because it will effect the leagues ability to get TV ratings in every city of the country, the ratings go down, the TV money goes down and then they make less money. It's all about that FAT TV money.

So I'm annoyed that the NBA vetoed the deal, but also pleased because fuck them. Let them make a mess of their league. It's diluted and they're all a bunch of greedy bastards. They shut down the NBA and then as soon as they open it up they expose their problems that went unresolved. Good. They suck and the league is bloated with rich assholes who insist on owning teams that shouldn't exist.

The NBA OWNS A TEAM. Get a clue you jerkoffs.

Amar'e-Chandler-Melo is a formidable front court indeed. I'm sorry they had to waive Big Shot to do it, though, I've always liked him. Now is definitely DWTDD time. Hope you're ready, kid.

Someone explain to me how/why Jamal Crawford is an upgrade from Toney Douglas?

Crawford is a legitimate scorer who would fit well into the D'Antoni system and help balance the court offensively.
NY Post is saying Douglas would not be part of the deal. Which might squash it.

But if the Knicks go into the season with TD and Bibby as their point guards, I think it's a problem. Maybe Shumpert can get up to speed and take some minutes.

Chris Paul and two future 2nd round draft picks traded to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesotas unprotected 1st round draft pick(likely 7-15).

No idea why the Clippers insisted on keeping Bledsoe over Gordon. And now they'll need to move Billups.

I thought for sure that Daniels was gonna hit that three at the end. Nice to finally pull one out against these dickheads. Garnett is so unfair. At age 36, still drops 22-footers like it's nothing, still fearsome inside, guards forwards on the perimeter, everything you could ask.

Knicks suck again. For now. Until they get hot. But until then, I thought GQ's profile on Stephon Marbury was worth a read if you got 15-20 minutes to kill.

They gave him a ton of work and he looked great.

The only thing is....Fields was similarly amazing last season and then completely ran out of steam by the end of the year. Let's hope that Shumpert can stem the tide until Davis comes back...and then that Davis can handle the load from there.

Yeah. Obviously this is a shitty season for developing a consistent/coherent offense, but at times it looks just awful. They have enough talent to stay afloat until they get it together, I think.

Good win, though.

QUOTE
- Carmelo Anthony played quite a bad game of basketball. It's admirable of him to persevere through a sore ankle and wrist, but he needs to adapt his decision-making accordingly. And by that I mean that going iso and pulling 22 times when 50 percent of the hands touching the basketball are incapacitated is exceedingly unwise. And they weren't even good shots. Melo also had 11 solid rebounds and 4 assists, and I wish that was all he did. Cool three-pointer to keep it close in the final minute, though, if you're into that sort of thing.

The most effective player down the stretch was Shumpert. And he made a few rookie mistakes in the process that didn't help.
A lot is riding on Baron Davis. I hope they have a plan B. Or C.
I like Melo...but yeah...he does make bad decisions. Regularly. When things get tight he forgets to use his teammates. It's human nature to try to take control...but it fails more than it works.

Meh. Jorts looked kind of promising. We just have no depth at all. Oof.

EDIT: Posting and Toasting nails it with this one:

QUOTE
So, just to summarize, that's the Knicks perilously deferring to Melo down the stretch, Amar'e getting lost, the Knicks getting confused on defense, and the Nuggets getting the better of last year's blockbuster trade all in one painfully prolonged basketball game-- a tidy little microcosm of every unpleasant thing we've had to bear with our eyes and ears so far this season.

Kind of promising? You have no idea what you're talking about.

I haven't been wowed by him. He seems like the type of hardworking player that will get minutes in New York and the fans will adore, but in reality he's a sub .500 shooter and plays mediocre defense.

I hope he proves me wrong.

He's a rookie, what do you expect? And how many minutes per game is he playing? You have to take all of this into accountability. If you watched him in college, you'd know he's more than just 'kind of' promising.
