Bought my mom tix to the Mets/Yankees game Saturday night for Mothers Day. I haven't been there yet and I'm wondering if I should drive there or take mass transit. I live in central NJ and I'd take the train out of Rahway if I decided on that.

For those of you who have been there what do you think?

Take the train to Penn Station and take the LIRR

That's one way to do it. Just don't drive, its not worth it. the train drops your right next to the station and the run plenty of them after the games.

Agreed on taking mass transit. Parking was $18 last season. No lie.
And I've taken the subway and the LIRR. My preference has become the LIRR. It's a little more pricey ($9 round trip vs $4.50 for the subway roundtrip), but takes so much less time. 20 minutes vs 40-50 minutes.

That, and you connect to LIRR right at Penn rather than having to go up to Times Square.

Yeah, definitely take the LIRR from Penn, not the subway.

That too.

Of course NJ Transit drives me insane because they eliminated last season the train on my line I used to take for day games at just before 11 a.m. Now I have to take the one a hour earlier to make sure I can get to the game before first pitch. So I end up getting breakfast in Penn Station and reading for a hour. If it wasn't 10:30 a.m., I'd be in a bar drinking.

As an aside, Downtown Rahway is a HELL of a lot nicer now than it was when I was a kid. I saw that The Waiting Room moved to a new location - couldn't tell you how much beer I drank at the old one.

Just go to to penn station and get a ticket to willetts point. Look on the big board and you'll see what track it goes on.

Port Washington line
Take the train to Mets-Willets Point. It's the second stop.

There will be a lot of people headed that way too, so watch for the crowd. smile.gif

Thanks for all the help guys. LIRR was quick easy and convenient. Plus it was cool not having top stand in the crowd trying to get to the 7 train after the game.

Gotta say that citi field is amazing. What a beautiful place. Paid way too much for a wright jersey in the team store but what you gonna do?

I am still wowed by the line st the shake shack. Is it that good?

I have never been because of that line. It is never short.

You could probably take the 7 train into the city and then go to the one in Madison Square Park in less time than it would take to get one at Citi Field.

Scratch that, there was a time I saw a very short line...It was a day when it was rainy and miserable and I was getting ready to leave.
