So with HHH just being a wrestler again I see him joining up with CM Punk, Cena and Sheamus to go against R-Truth, The Miz and to find out the person behind the conspiracy.

I've gone off WWE big style in the last few months. Whats the point of Mark Henry being champ? What was the point in a knackered old Kevin Nash being in on CM Punks storyline rather than a young up and comer? Speaking of CM Punk, he had an epic storyline going but it was doused so quickly one has to wonder if it was on purpose. Why are MITB winners being treated so poorly (the mexican dude losing the title after a month to superman and Daniel Bryan losing to everyone under the sun, usually in dark matchs).
These things make no sense to me. |

These things make no sense to me. CM Punk got doused quickly because they had no fucking clue what to do with it. It wasn't planned at all and they were screwed. They aren't fully prepared to jump to attitude era again and that's the only way Punk could survive. If he went baby face, it kills the whole thing, but everyone loved him, and they were too afraid to have him turn heel. For some reason they really want clear cut good guys and bad guys. Also, one of the reasons it blew up so fast, he was saying all this crap when his contract was about to run out. Once he had a contract the "is this real" aspect went very far out the window. |

They had to do something with Henry. He's "The Worlds Strongest Man" and was an afterthought. A guy like him should have a run as champ since he should be able to beat almost anyone with his size and strength. The Big Show-Henry feud is solid.
And the Punk angle has been handled okay IMO. After his match with HHH he conceded trhat maybe HHH isn't the guy pulling the strings but there is someone screwing with HHH too. He can't just run around accusing everyone. That would tire his act out. I see it going in a pretty good direction with HHH being a wrestler again, Laurenaitis as GM along with Vince, R-Truth and The Miz in the picture. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

Yeah, but you have to admit half the fun of the CM Punk thing was "what's going to happen next!??!" it's gone now, they completely lost that. |

Yeah but that would lose steam eventually. I'm actually excited to see where the storyline goes from here with HHH, Punk, Cena etc. They are the outsiders against every other wrestler.
I stopped watching wrestling from 2005 until the whole CM Punk shoot. It's fun to be into it again. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

I watch to be entertained, and Mark Henry certainly does not do that in any form. |

I watched when the Rock came back and now I just read a weekly wrap up on IGN to keep up. I can't watch that 3 hour show, I just can't do it. I'm interested enough to follow though. I'll be watching in November when the Rock is on |

This thread should be in the Anything Goes Forum. and Superstar Billy Graham would crush all these modern day assholes just with his personality. |

Did you guys know that Mark Henry hates peas? Over on Fark that's a huge joke over there and it's hilarious.
Watch at 5:03 ![]() Also good news is that once this swing through Mexico is over (Only reason why the belt is on Del Rio) that Cena's going to be taken out of the champ scene and focus onto Survivor Series with the Rock, and CM Punk's going to be pushed back into the champ scene again. Also no matter whether Punks a face or heel, he'll be over. He's been showing that he can still tell it like it is and be over. Reminds me a bit of Austin. And man when he did his thing with Nash he verbally beat the crap outta him, Nash was way out of his league. -------------------- |

I started watching wrestling again over the summer. Hadn't watched since Eddie guerro died. I really liked the punk storyline but agree they kinda ruined it. I guess triple h had to get in the spot light again. They really need to bring some credibility back to the title belts. As it stands now the WWE title feels like the biggest prize, the world title feels like what the ic title SHOULD feel like, and the rest of the titles mean nothing. There is no longer a WWE and wcw brand, so ditch wcws belts. Get that ic belt off of that idiot cost Rhodes and get it on someone the fans like, then build it up from there.
Is really like to see ziggler leave vicky guerrero and be himself. He's really actually funny on sack ryders YouTube show, I really like the "no offense" thing he does, and he's a really good performer. He makes every move look like it hurts. Hopefully him and ryder continue their feud. |

It's a little less awesome when you realize how transparent the whole thing is.
I've watched wrestling long enough and know enough about the business to know Vince had his hand in this. The original post by cm punk, out of the blue the other day was QUOTE "I would like @chrisbrown fight somebody that can defend themselves. Me curb stomping that turd would be a #wrestlemania moment." wrestlemania moment huh? Let's see...Yeahup, next ppv is wrestle mania, april 1st. Wwe is recently twitter obsessed, it's taken over their marketing and broadcasts. Chris brown controversy after Grammys and now teaming up with Rihanna again all over twitter. Wwe most marketable wrestler weighs in and relates it to ppv event. Ugh. |

I thought/saw the same thing. But unless Chris Brown plans on getting involved in the WWE Championship match between Punk and Jericho I don't see a specific event being possible between the two of them.

What he said was awesome though. I don't see it happening either. I think the plan was for the WWE to glom onto something that was trending on twitter and got more out of it than they ever imagined. Although...I can't imagine the WWE would be too happy with Punk saying he wants to curb stomp someone, so maybe I'm dead wrong. |

This is a very weird Wrestlemania for me. Despite the fact they have an unbelievably stacked card, the ratings are actually going DOWN right now between the Rumble and Mania. That's almost unheard of.
It's almost like they need this Brown thing to drum up more interest. Which is sad. This may be one of the last times you have a true Mania card that bridges the Attitude era with the current one with The Rock, Taker, HHH and Y2J all wrestling with I'd think an inevitable appearance by HBK in the Hell in the Cell match. Then you have Indy wrestling fans that should be doing cartwheels that the two belts are held by ROH guys. Yet despite all of this, I feel something is just totally off with the product. Personally, what is disappointing me is the absolute negligence of the two mid card title belts. I remember as a kid some of the best feuds involved these belts like DX vs. The Nation, HBK vs. Razor, or the tri feud between Booker T, Chris Benoit and Fit Finlay for the TV Title on WCW. Today, a lot of people don't even know who holds the IC and US belts. This post has been edited by jkman61494: Feb 23 2012, 04:19 PM -------------------- |

It's weird you say all that.
I don't really watch wrestling anymore, I just follow one website that does a weekly rundown of events, and I was planning on ordering this wrestlemania. Something I've never personally done, I've always gone to peoples houses and what not. Something tells me this is Taker's last match and I can't not watch that. I still remember when the dude premiered with Paul Bearer. I also think this match will officially transition HHH to a Vince McMahon like role (which has been happening behind the scenes) where he doesn't really wrestle anymore. These guys have always gave 100%, but now I think it's just going to be crazy, with these two knowing it's a last hurrah so to speak. The second they were doing HHH and Taker again, I knew this kind of had to be it. I don't necessarily care about Cena, or ever wanted to see him fight the Rock, but I love the Rock. He's a big draw for me. I'm a little nervous this might turn into a punching match, especially because Rock has to kind of play it safe and Cena isn't exactly a technical mastermind, but I'm hoping against hope they go all out bringing the best out of each other. I mean, Stone Cold wasn't exactly one of the most exciting people to watch wrestle, he was a mic guy, but his matches with the Rock were still great so I'm hoping against hope it's good. Here's the other thing with that match. Everyone thinks this whole Cena/Kane thing is going nowhere, or Cena will go heal BEFORE wrestlemania so Cena seems like the clear cut bad guy against the Rock. I don't think so, I think Cena is going to go full blown heal AT Wrestlemania. I think he's going to take the Rock out, doing something truly terrible to him in front of the home Miami crowd for the Rock. (so he can leave with an "injury" and no one gets on his case about disappearing because it works for the story) The crowd at Miami goes absoutely bonkers angry and Cena comes on Monday with his new evil persona. Cena turning heal has been a long time coming, and taking out the Rock to do it would be pretty epic. It's just a matter of maintaining the momentum because I don't know who Cena's foil would be as a heal other than him going with an Austin type route where he lashes out against everyone. CM Punk vs Jericho? This has classic written all over it. The crowd is going to be so far behind both of these guys it's going to be insane, I fell bad for whoever has to follow that match because it's guaranteed to be a letdown. These guys are going to go crazy, this is kind of the real selling point match for me. |

I think the card can be stacked. I'm just saying that the overall product from the fall until now has been quite lackluster.
Smackdown has had some injuries and thanks to their inability to push midcarders (Drew McIntyre is a super example) you're seeing what will be one of the least hyped title matches in history between Sheamus and Bryan. In terms of the two secondary belts, Jack Swagger has had exactly one match defending his belt....last PPV in a match against Justin Gabriel. Cody Rhodes hasn't had a feud since Booker T, who's not even an active wrestler anymore. I honestly don't know what will happen with Cena. I think they had an incredible chance to further make him a tweener character at the last PPV. I watched the Raw leading up to it and I swear they were trying to transition him to a heel after he almost friggin hit a handicapped person for cryin out loud. But, from the reports I read, the return of super face Cena returned in his match against Kane. My hope now is you have more of a Hogan/Rock deal like you saw at Wrestlemania x8, where Cena eventually turns heel because he couldn't take the "heat" anymore from the crowd. I could see the Miami crowd fully supporting Rock, having him top Cena, and then on the next Raw which I'd guess will still be in Florida, Cena makes his full heel turn. Given the WWE though, the more likely outcome is he beats the Rock and they hug it out to end the show. -------------------- |

Given the WWE though, the more likely outcome is he beats the Rock and they hug it out to end the show. This is a possibility, but I'm telling you, Rock wins to appease the crowd, and then Cena hurts him. The heel turn is weak unless you do it at Wrestlemania and then follow it up on Raw. Rock wins, Cena takes Rock out, Cena starts off Raw explaining his actions (possibly in new not bright colors) and then unleashes on what is the start of a new era for him. I'm having a hard time prediciting Vince's attitude behind this one. On the one hand, "celebrity" wrestlers almost always win, they never sin on to look stupid. However the Rock is a part of the industry and they need a way to get rid of him without taking one of their biggest draws/veterans and ruining him, along with having to have Cena still exist after a completely wasted year. There isn't a single person out there who thinks the Rock will lose, especially in Miami, but Vince has changed matches just because people have guessed on the internet. I think Wrestlemania is the heel turn for Cena. |

Yeah I'm ordering Wrestlemania because of Undertaker-HHH. The match should be nuts. This is def Takers last match but it could also be HHH's as well. Hell in a Cell was made famous by Taker but HHH has never lost in a HIAC match. HHH talking about knowing what needs to be done and Taker basically looking for an end(and by end he wants to end it by walking out after the match). It's going to be an incredible match.
Something I was thinking of last night is how they would end it. Undertaker HAS to win this. To build it up year after year and have him finish 19-1 would be terrible. Especially since it is his last match. HHH aint a young guy and doesnt need the push as a heel. But like SATS touched on HHH will likely not wrestle after this either and take things over behind the scenes. If this is the case I see a long, physical and destructive match with the Undertaker winning, the druids coming out and putting HHH in a casket, and Taker walking out and leaving forever to go back to the "Dark Side" and taking HHH with him in the casket. Taker gets 20-0 and is able to end it by walking off. HHH gets to bring Taker to the limit again cementing himself as an all-time great, and HHH is able to transition to an off camera role completely by using the "was taken to the dark side with the Undertaker forever" storyline. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

I think HHH is still in a position where it doesn't have to be his final match. Certainly as an every week in-ring performer, I believe he's done with that.
However, I don't think this will be by any means be the last time you see Trips having a major role on television. Whether it's as a face COO, or following in his father (in law's) foot steps as the heel corporate man, there is still a lot he can do. Also, while he's probably 15 years younger than when Ric Flair was the old war horse in Evolution, I still think there's a chance you could see HHH have another stable where he's now the old lion mentoring people. I guess part of me also believes that Vince and other WWE officials would love to see one of their own, HHH claim the World Heavyweight Championship belt record as well. Isn't he at 14 while Flair topped off at 16? As for the match, I see it going quite similarly, though with how seldom Undertaker performs now, you can never say never as to a potential appearance in the future. There are still a FEW matches to be had possibly with Cena and CM Punk. I think a really really awesome way to end Taker would be he wins, does his little Tebow like pose, walk up the ramp and as he takes one more look to the crowd, the lights go out, and when they come back on he's gone. It'd be a fitting way to see him go. -------------------- |

So I haven't watched wrestling since 2000 but am def gonna watch this wrestlemania if its the last one for HHH and the Undertaker. Can someone explain what the difference is b/w Raw and Smackdown now? Why are there two? Didn't it just used to be Monday Night Raw?

Can someone explain what the difference is b/w Raw and Smackdown now? Why are there two? Didn't it just used to be Monday Night Raw? Used to be just Raw. Then they added Sunday Night Heat for a year or two. Then added Smackdown on Fridays then moved to Thursdays. Now its back to being just Monday Night Raw "combining" the two shows(Raw, Smackdown) rosters. For awhile the shows were considered separate and wrestlers were assigned/drafted to one show and werent allowed to perform on the other show. Belts couldn't change shows until matchups at PPV events. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

So I haven't watched wrestling since 2000 but am def gonna watch this wrestlemania if its the last one for HHH and the Undertaker. Can someone explain what the difference is b/w Raw and Smackdown now? Why are there two? Didn't it just used to be Monday Night Raw? Used to be just Raw. Then they added Sunday Night Heat for a year or two. Then added Smackdown on Fridays then moved to Thursdays. The WWE bought WCW and had a huge roster of marketable wrestlers so they essentially split the WWE into two brands, Raw and Smackdown. Sunday Night heat was basically for jobbers who werent big enough to get airtime. |

It makes total sense when you put it that way. I think that I'd pretty much stopped watching before the WWE-WCW merger.

So what was TNT's Nitro? And didn't Spike have a weekly show too? Nitro was WCW before they were bought by the WWE in 2002. Spike is TNA, which is a separate company. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

Shawn Michaels is the special guest referee for the match between HHH and the Undertaker. I really should've watched raw last night because I AM going to purchase wrestlemania. I read a few recaps as I normally do though, how do you not have the undertaker, HHH, or michaels appear on the show before what is probably the biggest match of wrestlemania? |

What else can be said though? Aint the old days where they would fight even before the PPV. Sucks.

I really feel the WWE did a poor job pushing this PPV.
--To me, they dropped the ball with Punk/Y2J. I really don't understand the thought to have their feud be played over a videotron. I'm sure they'll have a good match, but they really had a chance to make this great, and it's almost like they downplayed this so it doesn't steal the limelight from the Hell In A Cell and Rock/Cena. --They were fighting a hard battle to make the Sheamus/Bryan match relevant, and I think they failed here miserably. They've pushed Big Show/Cody Rhodes better. --The Cena/Rock stuff to me is even boring. They've been laying the same smack talk for a year now. They should have announced this match probably around SummerSlam because now? I just want it to be done rather than being excited for the climatic finale. --Also, this Teddy vs. John stuff? Zzzzzzzz. --Lastly, where is the MITB? They get rid of the PPV event yet they don't put it on this show, when it's always one of the bigger matches? All so we can get a GM battle? The only match that excites me is the Cell. What finally made me a wrestling fan was HBK vs. Taker, 1997 IYH, the match where Kane debuted. That was an absolutely amazing match and I really would like to see the match where it will very likely be the last time these 3 are all in a ring together, especially in a cell. How much is the Wrestlemania PPV these days? I haven't watched wrestling in almost a decade, but Undertaker was always my favorite and this looks like a pretty good card.
Unfortunately I don't have any friends right now that are into wrestling, or I'd just glom onto one of them. |

Not only are the waitresses nice to look at, but it's genuinely hilarious to see middle aged men believing this is real and nearly getting into fistfights with each other. The HBK retirement match two years ago was absolutely hilarious. The two fan bases were seriously believing every second was 100% real stuff on tv and were at each others throats long after the match ended. For that entertainment you'll spend A LOT less money than buying it on tv. -------------------- |

Some thoughts;
- I don't believe this will be Undertakers or HHH's last match. When they have their last match you can be damn sure WWE will market it to hell that way. - There is no way on earth Undertaker is losing. - Part of me thinks Cena may win. Its not unheard of to have the crowd favourite lose (Cena last year, HHH in 2000, etc) and the talk of potential rematches at Summerslam/Wrestlemania 29 makes me think theres going to be interference somewhere down the line (probably Miz) so a Cena win isnt beyond the realm of possibility. Why would WWE hurt their main worker in order to give credibility to a guy thats rarely around? - I just cannot see Cena turning heel. He earns the WWE far too much money in kids buying his crap and attending his shows, as well as all the attention he gets the company through his work with sick kids. No way WWE would risk that little cash cow. This post has been edited by pitchburn: Mar 27 2012, 01:12 PM |

He earns the WWE far too much money in kids buying his crap and attending his shows, as well as all the attention he gets the company through his work with sick kids. No way WWE would risk that little cash cow. - I'm starting to wonder about Taker myself, HOWEVER, I disagree with the idea that they'd be marketing it. For one, the show needs an attention grabbing headline to get in the news the next day to help the brand. Announcing he's done afterwards as opposed to before does just as much for the WWE PR wise. Also, very rarely do wrestlers get the fabled "last match" It's not something that necessarily gets done anymore and Vince likes surprises. If it's not his last match, there's a chance he loses... HHH needs to start focusing more on his new behind the scenes responsibilities though. He's not retiring or anything and as long as he's involved there will be times to bring him out, but remember that storyline of the board "firing" Vince and him crying in the ring while Triple H resumed responsibilites? Not all storyline. HHH most likely will be utilized more as a Vince like character than he is a wrestler from here on out. I mean, he already kind of is, but I think there needs to be more of a transition, and him getting taken off in a casket like greatone said sounds about right. - That's what everyone thinks. Vince and the WWE have a new tradition of writing storylines, and then if people predict them, they'll change them, even it it hurts the story, just to get the surprise. Undertaker losing would be HUGE and would also give Taker an "out" so to speak. It's very possible that Taker decided if he was going to lose to anyone it would be HHH and HBK. - I've said my thoughts on this match before. Rock wins, Cena turns heel and "injures" him. Rocky exits stage right. - The WWE is leaning towards a softer version of the Attitude Era, as opposed to the recent PG almost 80s style wrestling that's been going on. They need Cena to go heel to do it. Remember, no one ever thought Hogan would go heel, it's the natural progression of the sport. |

Vince never turned Hogan heel, WCW did. I dont think Hogan has EVER played a heel under Vince. I dont expect Cena to either.
Undertakers Wrestlemania streak has become almost as big an attraction and tradition as the event itself. Im on record as saying it will never be broken; it will go down in history. So basically, I'm expecting some great matches but the status quo to resume after Wrestlemania (Taker and HHH only wrestling big matches, Rock out of there and Cena back to running around 'rising above kids' or whatever he does). Gues we'll have to wait and see. |
