You know what will cheer us up? A little song called "Miracles" by the Insane Clown Posse. Actually the most fun should come tonight when 101 comes on and tells us all what a horrible, horrible coach Torts is and lists exactly 101 reasons why he should be fired immediately. And then Leedsy will list exactly 102 reasons why he's wrong. Can't wait. -------------------- QUOTE When a man tells you that he got rich through hard work, ask him: 'Whose?' --Don Marquis (1878 - 1937) |

http://twitter.com/AGrossRecord/status/12013706364 AGrossRecord #NYRangers Henrik Lundqvist on the shootout: "I was dead tired." He was reason team had a chance, but it is those special moments that make good players into great players. They find ways to will their team across the finish line. Grant Fuhr and Martin Brodeur are a couple of goalies that have found greatness. Lundqvist still has time and chances to reach that level. This is not slam against Henrik, but the adulation and the reverence he gets from the MSG faithfuls makes people like myself demand perhaps an impossible greatness that he can't physically achieve. -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. You can't make this shit up. Rangers considered dead in the water by a majority of their fan base to the point of fans wanting them to tank for draft position, and they proceed to go 7-1-2, miss the playoffs by one point by losing the last game of the season in a shootout and in the process getting the worst possible draft position they could. Unbelievable.

Fire Sather, too many bad moves.
Fire Torts, you don't put the whole season on a player that has not scored in ages. You don't even pull out one of the league's best goalies in a 3-2 game with more than half the game to go. Both have failed to construct a good team, and to make their team perform. There is just no excuse, and no defense for both of these men. Out they go. They get the blame. -------------------- ![]() |

The really hysterical thing is, a few weeks back, I was discussing this with one of our drivers; who just happens to be a Devils fan. It was right after the Rangers went into Jersey and won late. He was remarking on how that win might help the Rangers get on a roll and get back into the playoffs. I proceeded to tell him that I knew exactly what was going to happen. I told him that the Rangers would play well enough to get back into position but miss the playoffs by one point and end up with the worst possible draft spot on the non-playoff teams. I really didn't think it would come true though. -------------------- They say 'eh' instead of 'what' or 'duh'. That's the mighty power of Canada.

I'm hoping Brett Connolly or Nino Niederreiter falls. Let the shmucks above us pick Kabanov instead. This post has been edited by xcdudesquadloves91!!!: Apr 11 2010, 08:45 PM -------------------- |

Do they get the worst spot though? There are plenty of teams in the West that have more points. I was thinking the same thing. The Eastern Conference was so pitiful this year it makes it funny to think of it this way. We were one point away from a 7th seed, now we're the 10th worst team in the NHL. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't draft positions depend on the amount of points non-playoff teams get,, then the points of the playoff teams, and then finalists are #29 #30 REGARDLESS of points? So if everyone is saying the top 10 picks in this draft are solid, then we're still in a position to get a good one. AND if we're in a lottery, we are in position to move up even more? -------------------- |

So if everyone is saying the top 10 picks in this draft are solid, then we're still in a position to get a good one. AND if we're in a lottery, we are in position to move up even more? Yes and Yes. We lucked out because Anaheim won. Tops we can pick is 6th if we win the Lottery though. My guess is we luck into a guy like Emerson Etem. He's a teammate of Thomas Kundratek (remember that name guys) in Medicine hat and had 37 goals in the WHL this year. He's currently ranked 8th, and his stock is rising, but this doesn't include international skaters, so he could fall to 10th. Also, I guarantee Nino jumps ahead of him (Nino's ranked 12th). He's a big RWer, whos a year away from the NHL, so after sending him back to juniors one more year he could be scoring for the Rangers big time. And the Bruins going 6-7 with the Sabres while this is true, you are right those series will be competitive, but it still is a shitty system when teams with more points miss the playoffs and a team as shitty as ours missed it by one point. even worse however is the overtime loss points. |

This shit about Lundqvist losing the game and not being on some"level" is ridiculous. The fucking guy stood on his head made 46 saves is the only one on the ice for this team that should even have the word elite muttered in the same sentence as his name and yet hes to blame? Hmm last time i checked Jody Shelley was the best player on the ice for us. Whatever, ive had my fill of asinine shit for the season... I guess this sort of comments is directed at me. Well, where is it that I am putting blame for this loss completely at Lundqvist? The angle of argument relates to the fact New York's fans like to revere their players and many times don't look at the whole landscape and players become gog like figures. Like it or not and probably according to Tortorella's game plan yesterday, the game's outcome was in the hands of your best player. And you know what? I was comfortable with that. Lundqvist singlehandingly put his team in a position to win the game. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong in expecting him to finish the job and get his team across the finish line. Is it a case of high expectation? Probably, but when the goalie's name is Henrik Lundqvist and with the sort of reverence he attracts from the team's faithful, well, I am expecting greatness. What's is wrong with that? And because he wasn't able to deliver, does that minimizes his contribution this season? Absolutely not. He is an excellent goalie who is about to enter his best years of his career. Let's hope the team hierarchy surrounds him like the fat dude across the Hudson with the right personnel and system to win a few 50-game seasons and a couple of Cups. -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedom, it will be because we destroyed ourselves"
“Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently and build one for himself.” “No country can sustain, in idleness, more than a small percentage of its numbers—majority must labor at something productive.” “Property is the fruit of labor; property is desirable; it is a positive good in the world.” "Man is not the only animal who labors; but he is the only one who improves his workmanship." -Abraham Lincoln |

Saying that no matter what Marian was a bad choice. Even fucktard Olli Jokinen is competent in the shootout and should be placed ahead of him on the dept chart. How is having your must skilled player and best scorer a bad choice? Especially against a mediocre goalie? Talk about stats all you want, sometimes you throw them out the window. 1 for 10? My argument would be that he was due then. |

while this is true, you are right those series will be competitive, but it still is a shitty system when teams with more points miss the playoffs and a team as shitty as ours missed it by one point. even worse however is the overtime loss points. Agrred about the OTL's. There should be 2 points for a win and 0 for a loss. And maybe if teams actually tried to win in OT, they wouldn't be stuck having a stupid shoot out decide a game. I would also love to see if you have something like this happen in the NHL, to make it a sudden death overtime. That is so unique in hockey. The amazing emotion and tension, that they should break away from other sports and if you have this rarity like you saw with the two teams fighting for the one spot on game 82, run with it. I know it'll never happen though -------------------- |
