Ugh.

This is the difference between good teams and Cup contenders. Down 3-1? Meh. Whatever. Give us a few minutes...

I'm not a fan of moving DZ to the right side. Doesn't seem comfortable at all.

Throwing the stick. And we didn't want to include him in any trade offers huh?

So we should trade him because of a penalty that no one knew existed?

Didnt Drury get a penalty for that in the playoffs two yeas ago??

In other news, the Devils just grossly overpaid for Ziclicky. They're sending Foster, Palmieri, Veilleux, 2nd round pick this year and a conditional pick next year to Minnesota.

Foster and Villeux are 30 year old journeymen players and Palmieri looks like a 3rd/4th line guy. Minnesota got a pu pu platter.

One point. Let's try to break the 0:22 it took against Columbus to win it.

Great game. Even if the Isles had lost, it was a great game. It's a longshot for the Isles to get into the playoffs, but nonetheless, just being invested in games this late in the year for this team is a welcome change.

Tavares is awesome
Gaborik is fast
Nabokov is still a #1 NHL goalie
Biron is not Henrik Lundqvist

I hear San Jose is offering some solid depth in a trade for Tavares.

Marty Biron since his shutout against Toronto on 1/14: 3.12 GAA, .863 SV% with a 1-1-2 record. Not exactly giving the Rangers much of a chance to win.

That hurts in more ways than one. With these recent duds Biron has had, Torts will be less inclined to play him, therefore putting more strain on Henrik. I completely believe that a big part of Lundqvist's success this year has been Biron easing his workload for him.

Devils lose and Bruins lose in a shootout, so we didn't give up any ground.

In the short period I was able to see Tavares was beastly. Gaborik looked like he was flying too.

Another factor might be that he is married now and his wife hopefully put the kibosh on any wild partying he was doing. Some games in previous seasons it definitely seemed like he was hungover or otherwise didn't have his head in the game. I haven't seen a game like that this year.

Pretty sure he only got married last year. They were together before then, but they weren't married. Regardless, point is in previous seasons he looked like he was hungover and this one he hasn't. Just a theory.

The players on this team who have been slumping all season...

Prust: 15:27 of even strength time
Boyle: 14:47
Dubinsky: 15:56

Meanwhile, the ones who have been productive...

Richards: 14:59
Gaborik: 16:01
Callahan: 15:15
Anisimov: 13:39
Stepan: 16:13

Guess where all the goals/points came from tonight? The bottom group. Guess what the top group produced? Jack fucking shit.

Can someone take Prust and Boyle away from him please? Like a teacher taking a kid's toys away and putting them in her desk drawer until class is over, someone needs to do this. You can have your Prust and Boyle back after the season, John. They are 8-10 min. a game players at even strength. No more. This is starting to remind me of last season where Tortorella disappeared up his own ass with his over-reliance on grit players, who, no matter what kind of effort they gave you, could not win hockey games because they rarely score. And last season was when Prust and Boyle were scoring, this season they're not!

The Rangers will be hard pressed to win 1 round of the playoffs if Boyle, Prust and a bottomed out Dubinsky get as much even strength ice time as your good players.

Do we seriously not have anyone better than John Mitchell to go 4th in the shootout? He's gone four times now this season and hasn't come close to scoring on any of them. I'd rather have Marc Staal go 4th in the shootout. The guy at least has shown he can score on the rush or 1 on 1. Jesus fucking christ.

I Like: nothing.

I Don't Like: much of anything.

Third or fourth time this season I didn't agree with the goalie choice and each time they lose. Also each time there was a better game for biron the next day or the day after that. Happened against the caps, devils, Chicago and now the isles.

Torts made the right choice-- unfortunately Biron didn't live up to his end of the bargain. We play Buffalo tomorrow, and they are a more dangerous team than the Isles.

I duno. The isles always step up against the rangers. Buffalo has been one of this seasons biggest disappoints.

I agree with this, but I wonder if he's matching that line against other teams top lines... as a shut down line. Anyone know how much they were on against tavares?

I only have time for a 10 minute break at work and can't look it up.

Not for nothin, but are you at practice every day? You know they do that every single day of the season at the end of practice, right? You know that the Rangers have the best goalie in the world? You dont think the coach has a good feel for who is good and who isnt?

Or do you think he throws John Mitchell out there 4th for a game deciding point just to piss you off?

But Mitchell is 0-4 in the SO this season. At some point he's gotta give a more obvious candidate a shot over Mitchell. Hell, give McDonagh and Del Zotto their turns. Going back to Mitchell again the rest of this season would be Tortorella being too stubborn for the team's good.

The same for Richards. Although he had a history of being somewhat decent in the shootout prior to this season. I would imagine that there are other guys on this team that can do better on a breakaway than John Mitchell aside from Gaborik, Callahan and Richards.
