Let's not punch fire extinguishers this year.

Knicks are currently meeting for pre-training came to get better and hopefully win a division title this year.

Questions for this year
-We got older, can we stay healthy?
-Will ˇPablocura! (P&T's token nickname for Pablo Prigioni) take over? He is a 35 year old rookie!
-Will the fire extinguisher remain unharmed?
-Can Melo and STAT play together?
-How awesome will Tyson Chandler be? Awesome? or SUPER AWESOME?
-Who is coaching the Erie BayHawks? No seriously they won't reveal him.
-Will Isiah Thomas Return?

Should be a fun season. Screw the Nets. LETS GO KNICKS!

Since this is usually our general NBA thread, as well, I guess it's appropriate to say that Seattle got a new arena deal done. Good for them, hopefully they buy Sacramento from those joke owners.

JR Smith, summing up the Knicks perfectly Thanks Posting and Toasting!:

QUOTE
- J.R. Smith is the best person to ask about everything going on with the Knicks, including the Tracy McGrady workout:

"We need all the help we can get in every area. … So whenever a big name comes up that can help our team, we’ve got to get him."

Dude just summed up like two decades of Knicks front office philosophy with one offhand remark.

It's gonna be a long year of this.

QUOTE
Fears this graybeard team would be susceptible to health woes already are being realized as the Knicks announced Camby will miss seven to 10 days with a left calf strain after an MRI exam.

In addition, Amar’e Stoudemire missed practice yesterday with a sore ankle after being held out of Friday’s scrimmage. To boot, Rasheed Wallace has not been cleared to scrimmage, deemed not in good enough shape.

Woodson is saying Amar'e is just being rested. No need to worry, as I'm sure they are just trying to be cautious especially with that ankle.

Camby is going to play 14-16 minutes a night. He knows what he has to do, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Wallace is interesting, as he's coming out of retirement and is in a non guaranteed contract. I didn't think he'd scrimmage until next week just to get in shape.

Wow, super harsh. And really funny.

Deadspin NBA Shit List: Toney Douglas, The Little Engine That Couldn’t

"Now, if Toney had been like Stephon Marbury or Rod Strickland or any of the other castaways from the Island of Lost Toys who have washed up on the shores of my Knicks fandom, I'd simply have hated him and called it a day. But Toney ... he was trying so hard to do things right. "He works so hard," Mike Breen would say, as Toney threw a shovel pass off the basket stanchion (this really happened), like some Dadaist exploration of the absurdity of professional sports."

Go Warriors!

PG: Steph Curry
SG: Klay Thompson
SF: Harrison Barnes
PF: David Lee
C: Andrew Bogut

If (and that's a big if considering Curry and Bogut's history) they can stay healthy that is a team that can challenge for a playoff spot. Add in their pretty damn good bench (Brandon Rush, Carl Landry, Jarrett Jack, etc.) and I'm actually pretty excited for their season.

Of course, I'll only be able to watch a game or two, but whatever.

Ohh David Lee. Thank you so much for accepting a sign-and-trade to Golden State so that we could sign Stoudamire.

You're service will be remembered forever during the "hysterical era" That's what I call the beginning of the Larry Brown time to 2010. Because all you could was laugh at the Knicks.

The hole in my heart left by the departure of Jeremy Lin is still too deep. I'll be back soon, though. Someday. I just have to find a player on this team that I actually like.

Jeez man. Yeah it wasn't the best of moves, but like Iman Shumpert is still there. He's young and fresh!

Also, JR Smith? HOW DO YOU HATE EARL!

Sorry this team is awesome, I'm so excited for basketball this season it actually has turned me apathetic to the NHL.

In the absence of the NHL I'd like to watch basketball this season but I hate the Knicks, and the Nets are partially owned by Jay-Z who's a tacky piece of shit, and we don't live a few blocks from the Boston Garden anymore so I don't care about them, so, ah... I dunno. Who's the long suffering fanbase in the NBA ala Red Sox/Rangers/Blackhawks/Cubs/etc.? I mean besides the Knicks.

Yeah well, I hate your face.

As long as you don't root for the Nets, we can be friends. Jay Z owns like 0.1 percent of the team, BTW - not sure of that makes all the self-aggrandizing more or less annoying.

The answer to the "long-suffering franchises" question would have been the Clippers or Nets until a short while ago (despite the two Finals appearances the Nets made in the early 2000s). But either of those are bandwagon picks right now.

You don't want a total sad sack franchise with nothing to hope for or nothing cool about them, so that rules out teams like the Kings or Raptors. I like the Grizzlies, mostly because I've always been drawn to headcases like Zach Randolph, but they're annoying in that they're one of those teams that didn't have the sense to change their name when they moved, and now it looks kind of ridiculous. Ain't nothing jazzy about Utah, and ain't no Grizzlies in Memphis.

How about the Warriors? Been losers for a long time, but have some good history and a cool logo, and there are some decent players to root for.

Wooo! Join us! Curry is a good guy, really likeable. Don't have any hateable people on the team.

Also, the Bobcats could be fun to give a try. They are fucking AWFUL, but are actually committed to rebuilding instead of being mediocre (seems like 75% of NBA teams are all competing for fourth place).

It's really refreshing watching the Knicks play defense.

This team is playing really well in game 2. Should be even better when they start using Stat to anchor the second unit and Marcus "I'm Fugazi" Camby comes back

Its ok guys we all went a little crazy over Jeremy Lin.

The combination of our new Guard combos are sooooooooo much better. Sorry Raymond Felton looks hungry and is playing well. And if he doesn't keep it up, Mike Bibby doesn't have to start.

2 turnovers in the first half...OK, I'm convinced. 70-win season, no doubt.

Still can't get used to Rasheed being on this team, though. I guess they needed a guy to huck up irresponsible threes, even with their newfound cohesiveness.

And I think the crowd in Philly dislikes Wallace a little.

Sheed trotted out in the 3rd quarter.

Man I knew this team was going to be better than last year, like 50ish win good. But wow, this is just a slaughterfest.

I don't think I've ever been this happy watching the Knicks. My first memory was losing to San Antonio in the finals. Since then there has been NOTHING good. I'm giddy and I'm not embarrassed.

I was so wrong about this team (I'm sure I'll regret saying that, but whatever), but the guard depth is what's standing out for me so far. Night and day from last season.

Yeah Grundwald did a fantastic job to get DEPTH! People complained they were old, but they are rotation players! Kurt Thomas isn't starting! Rasheed Wallace is almost in shape! Markus Camby still hasn't played!!!

Ronnie Brewer for veterans minimum was the steal of the offseason. Who needs Lin?

Just change the names around and this was the same type of optimism and excitement with the Mets in May laugh2.gif

Sheed with 8 points in 5 minutes at the end of the third. Just like Reggie Miller, basically.

This is....I mean...when did this happen? Like, they're actually playing basketball. Well. With set plays and stuff.
