The again part was not intended.

Fenway Park, in Boston, is a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark. Everything is painted green and seems in curiously sharp focus, like the inside of an old-fashioned peeping-type Easter egg. It was built in 1912 and rebuilt in 1934, and offers, as do most Boston artifacts, a compromise between Man's Euclidean determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities. - John Updike

Seriously Burns, when they won in 2008 they beat Tampa Bay, and last year the Yankees handled them pretty easily, wasn't it a 4-1 series?

What are you talking about?

Its how she plays it out in her mind to avoid having to think about it. Kinda like I have some blank spots in my memory from 2004 and 2007. I know something happened, but I don't exactly know what.

laugh2.gif This could very well be the case. Maybe, to make me feel better, I dream that Philly pounded NY to win the WS in 2008 and that last year, Philly won again.

See the problem with this is that regardless of our differences, the one thing that both Boston and NY can agree on is that Philadelphia is a shit hole and its fans are shit heads. The fact that you'd root for Philly to beat anyone is mind boggling and disappointing.

I know. I hate the Flyers. Loathe. The Eagles don't bother me because they aren't in my conference and the Jets never play them. Plus the BF is an Eagles fan. I don't really care one way or another about the Phillies, honestly. Sure, if the Red Sox ever get to the WS again and they are our opponent, I hope we crush them. But this is how much I hate the MFY.

But if the MFY played Brett Favre in the WS, I would root for NY. Puke.

Oh god even i can't get on board with this one. Are you serious? At least Yankee fans were always Yankee fans. Philly fans are the biggest bandwagon jumpers ever. Did you ever here anyone talking about the Phillies 4 years ago? No you didn't. The games had attendance issues, the team sucked, and it was 100% football city.

Plus, ya know, Yankee fans don't puke on little girls.

I'm glad someone already bringing up the puking on a little girl incident.
Phillies fans are obnoxious assholes. They didn't even win anything or made the playoffs and they were assholes.

I can't anyone outside of the Phillies fan group would defend them and say they're better than Yankee fans. I don't even like Yankee fans, but they're not nearly as obnoxious and annoying. A lot of them weren't arrogant pricks until after they won a couple world series.

I'm talking about the late 90s.
People seem to forget how bad the Yankees were in the late 80s. And how the Mets were the team in NY in the mid 80s. I remember mocking Yankee fan friends in the late 80s like they mock me now. What goes around comes around. At least with my friends it's all in good fun.

Yes, I'm sure that Yankees fans existed in the late 80s when the Yankees were shitty, but no Phillies fans existed while the Phillies were shitty. That is completely plausible.

I have not had the pleasure of dealing with Phillies fans. But I think it's safe to say that the majority of Phillies(bandwagon), Yankees(self-righteous, thinking every AS should be a Yankee) and Red Sox(insecurity issues) fans all suck.

Mets fans are pretty bad too. They're similar to Sox fans pre-2004...Only more obnoxious.

By the way, Phillies fans had "Mets suck!" type banners at their parade two years ago. That's so much like the Red Sox and their Yankee hatred. No wonder Jen likes them. wink.gif

I actually saw a game in that shithole. It was Phillies vs Expos, my parents had box seats comped from work. I felt like my soul was dying as a fucking 8 year old. Stop defending the city of Philadelphia, its like defending killing babies.

Closed 2003. Saw a game there either '98 or '99

I bet as an 8-year old in box seats you were definitely critiquing the stadium quality!

I'd root for a stadium collapse.

See the problem with this is that regardless of our differences, the one thing that both Boston and NY can agree on is that Philadelphia is a shit hole and its fans are shit heads. The fact that you'd root for Philly to beat anyone is mind boggling and disappointing.

Sorry but I can relate to Jen.If the Red Sox were in the WS with Phillies I'd be rooting hard for the Phillies. I'm not hating the Phils like many of you. I don't have that history. I actually rooted for the Phillies in '08. I know their fans are dicks but I don't have any exposure to them .I just see them on the TV.

Any team that does well has fans that jump on the bandwagon but then they also have their fans that have followed them from generation to generation. I think this is particularly true in my case and with a lot of Yankee fans . I think that's also true for Red Sox fans . They have an extremely loyal following and I think that love of the Sox is passed down from father to son/daughter .
I've followed the Yankees for as long as I can remember. I have memories of sitting in the living room on a Sunday afternoon w/my dad and uncles watching the Yankees of the early 1960's before my dad died in '62.

How about the mid 60's thru late 70's .Especially right after the last Yankee championship period from '65 on. We're talking such yankee HOFers as Mike Fernandez, Mike Hegan, Ruben Amaro, Horace Clarke(loved Horace) ,Dooley Womack , Jake Gibbs,Fritz Petersen, and Charlie Smith. They were competitive in the early 70's when Houk was managing and Sparky Lyle was closing games for them. They would hang around until August and then the Orioles would play their usual .700 ball the rest of the way and leave the Yanks in the dust. They were so bad prior to that time that a record just over .500 was exciting.

My father always says what was unbelievable about the Mets in 1969 was how they beat that Orioles team, which was just loaded.
