Fenway Park, in Boston, is a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark. Everything is painted green and seems in curiously sharp focus, like the inside of an old-fashioned peeping-type Easter egg. It was built in 1912 and rebuilt in 1934, and offers, as do most Boston artifacts, a compromise between Man's Euclidean determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities. - John Updike

2W. Go get it, Rangers.
NYR will simply have to play better than the Sens, but also the officiating and the League's Punition Division.

All I'm hoping for is that the Rangers don't lower themselves to the Senators standards, and hit them where it really hurts - the scoreboard.

The Rangers strength all year has been letting other teams do all the stupid stuff and not stooping to it themselves. It's almost the whole reason why they swept Philly this year. Never mind I think Torts would permanently bench anyone who even dared to act like the Penguins yesterday.

Well then he didn't suffer a concussion (if he plays), as Shanahan revealed on WFAN. Were the Sens misleading in their diagnosis?

It's possible, but would they be misleading JUST to make sure Hagelin is out a few games? I don't think they'd go that far but who the hell knows anymore in this league.

Why do you think they wouldn't go that far? We've seen that plenty of times in last year's playoffs and this season alone. Teams claim uncertainty of the severity of the injury until a decision is rendered and then suddenly their doctors are available to determine that the issue isn't as severe as once thought.

I'm not saying that they wouldn't go that far, but I'm also not going to sit here and think they've thought of this whole 'let's milk it just so they lose a guy' bit only to say "Oh, he's fine!"

And since he's skating this morning, the Rangers still have time to appeal Carl's suspension.

I don't think any of the suspensions sufficiently calmed the waters. I'm genuinely kind of nervous about tonight, I think it could turn into the Penguin/Flyer game.

It could have been something like Shanny contacting the team's doctors and asking about the nature of Alfredsson's injuries, and they give "recurrent concussion symptoms" and he runs with it.

Meanwhile, he just kinda got knocked loopy for a bit and his really symptom free and can play. Should be revisited in my opinion.

Yes, this is my point in the other thread. To me there is a difference between "Hagelin hurt Alfredsson" and "Hagelin injured Alfredsson" You base these things CLEARLY ONLY ON INJURIES and this is the shit that happens.

Only if the coaches encourage it, and if the refs allow it.

So, Alfie says he DID suffer a concussion and yet he's possibly going to play anyway. That makes ZERO sense.

What are the refs going to do? Hand out some penalties or game misconducts? That didn't stop it from happening in Pennsylvania. We already know what kind of a shit brick the coach is in Ottawa and we know Torts doesn't back down (see Devils games stupidity)

That's another thing. What the hell would that series look like? This league has created a damn monster.

Why would you play if you're concussed? To win a game or to hope you get hit so badly, you're being taken out on a stretcher and Shanny gets to hand out another suspension? Not saying that Alfredsson has this mentality, but I don't know why a player would take such a risk like that.

Well either that he made a miraculous recovery. I find it a little hard to believe that he can recover THAT quickly especially given his history.

There should be a rule stating that any player diganosed with a concussion shouldn't be playing two days after said diagnosis. How about that for player safety, Shanahan?

Interesting:Shanahan on Boomer/ Carton said Hagelin suspension could be reduced if Alfie plays Gm3. Shows how much injury impacts punishment

Hard to believe that he was concussed Saturday, but recovered in less than 48 hours. I had a mild concussion when I was 17 and felt it for a week.

Funny, in Senators room (according to Rangers beat writers on twitter), Ottawa has fedotenko playing with Gaborik and richards and Kreider with Boyle and Prust.

So, Alfie says he DID suffer a concussion and yet he's possibly going to play anyway. That makes ZERO sense.

He's near the end of his career and it's the Playoffs. If he's a gamer, for sure he wants to be out there.

Now if he is concussed and his doctors let him play, that would be criminally* negligent.

Kreider has to be nervous as hell. First NHL game and it's a ticking time bomb of rage, suspensions and concussions.

He probably would be nervous if he was mortal.

This probably means nothing, but:

AGrossRecord: Conspiracy theory: John Scott had a nameplate above his locker stall. Chris Kreider did not. Neither did Woywitka nor Eminger

Scott playing would be shittttttttttyyyyyyyy.

I can only guess that if Scott plays the Rangers thought process is that they enough guns and ammo to beat Ottowa w/o Hagelin. And Scott is just a pawn to keep Ottowa honest. You can't afford to have Kreider missing assignments in a game where Ottowa has completely owned the offensive zone.

If Alfredsson plays the Rangers need to hit him at every opportunity.
Not dirty, just clean checks.

He wants to take that risk that is on him.

A nice jarring hit could send him right back into the locker room.

Maybe Scott can knock Chris Neil or Konopka into next week since the on-ice officials clearly have no intention of protecting Lundqvist.

This whole situation has me Sick. I'm literally a little bit nauseous.

Yesterdays pens/flyers was a complete clusterfuck of goonery and cheap shots. Let's see how many suspensions are handed out. My guess is none.

Asham will get something, but Neal won't because he's a star player and Mario might threaten to take his puck and go home again.

If Asham gets less than Hagelin....
