Would you guys feel comfortable if the Rangers do NOTHING at all?

They're first place in the conference so I won't be enraged, especially because the market looks like it's complete shit today, but at the same time, I'd bet a decent amount of money their lack of offense will be their undoing somewhere short of the Cup.

And this is still a growing team that can get better next season with maturing forwards and maybe a UFA signing or a team will be more open to trade a scoring forward.

What does "a growing team" mean? Go through the last 10 years of the league, look at teams that seemed to be on the cusp of greatness, then notice what happened to them in following years. Some kept rising, many of them fell. There is absolutely no guarantee the Rangers will be good next season. In fact, if Gaborik missed significant time this season, I contend this team would be desperately fighting for 8th right now.

But I agree with your second half, they do need to add a little more to what they have now.

This ^^ The Rangers don't need to make huge move ( tho I am in favor of a Nash Trade if its at the right price ) but they do need scoring help. The King won't be able to post a shutout every game through the playoffs.

TSN is reporting that the NYR and the BJ's are now working on Nash again. They report that Nash himself is involved.

Absolutely not. They may in fact be doing it for ratings. But they've reaffirmed that this now is a better than 50% chance of happening, I'd theorize because Nash (or his agent) are now applying pressure on CBJ.

Why is Winnipeg trading away players? Oh well, if NYR stays in 1st and they finish 8th, no Oduya makes 'em easier to play against.

Oduya for a 2nd and 3rd rounder, most likely in different years. So in the end it's definitely at least a 2nd rounder if the Rangers to add such a d-man.

Poor Dubinsky. The guy must be sitting alone at his house just refreshing tweets and twitching his knee.

Nah, he's drinking that ginormous bottle of champagne he won for $5K at the rock of dreams benefit on Wednesday. I saw him outbid John McEnroe'sd equally ludicrous sum.

They keep showing montages of guys like Guerin, Rechi and Steve Thomas making a difference. Actual vets who could bring some help to a team. Who's the guy who has a hope of that this year? Kostitsyn?

I actually going to be that if someone from the roster goes, it won't be Dubinsky. I say Anisimov or Hagelin. Have to sweeten it if not including Kreider or Erixon.

I'd rather trade Dubinsky and Erixon than Anisimov or Hagelin right now.

Going pretty much exactly as I thought.

CBJ really messed this up. I knew the Rangers were never "out of it" Nash is involved now you say? I knew there was no way he didn't start applying pressure/

He was either getting Nash for what he wanted, or he wasn't getting him. An hour to deadline and Nash and CBJ start sweating instead of other teams bidding for his services and ring ring ring goes Glen's phone while he smiles with a Cigar in his mouth

Ugh. Portzline says behind the scenes in Columbus is "frantic" with late pushes. Ugh ugh.

No, this is good. Slats will probably end up getting Nash for, like, a 7th rounder and Wade Redden. laugh2.gif

Yeah, but CBJ can easily hold onto him until the off-season, too. What, he may be disgruntled and and unhappy for another 6 weeks? They're already a lock for #30 in the league at season's end.

Just for conversations sake, what are the specifics of those by-laws that keep Avery from playing this season or the playoffs now?

I ask because, say we trade Erixson, he can't play for Columbus this season?

It almost has to be Dubinsky going the other way, just to offset some of the salary.

I thought the inclusion of Dubi from the start in the Nash talks had more to do with Columbus being keen on him for years, more so than Sather just wanting to be rid of him.

Exactly. Nash at this point is probably feeling like a little kid who was told Christmas has been cancelled.

I really wonder how these people have ANY insight into moment-by-moment happenings. If Sather and Howson are talking, what, their assistants are huddling in the corner of their offices, whispering updates to Dreger on their cell phones? Seems ridiculous.
