By Curtis Eichelberger
Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- The New Jersey Devils may be sold by
owner Jeffrey Vanderbeek, a former member of the executive
committee at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., according to a
person familiar with the potential sale.
Vanderbeek has hired investment bank Moag & Co. in
Baltimore to oversee the sale of the National Hockey League
club, and has sent out letters to prospective buyers soliciting
interest, said the person, who has seen the letter and requested
anonymity because the team hasn’t given him permission to
discuss it.
In an e-mail, Vanderbeek said he was traveling and wouldn’t
be available to talk until later today.
Vanderbeek, 53, bought the team in 2004 for $125 million,
according to Forbes magazine.
A 20-year Lehman veteran, Vanderbeek ran the firm’s capital
markets division from 2000 to 2002, then became head of global
risk management, private equity and strategy when Lehman was the
fourth-biggest securities firm by capital. He left the firm in
2004 to run the Devils.

He should wait for another year for the CBA to expire and the buyout laws get loosened so he can dump Kovalupchuk and make the team attractive for a buyer.

I'd kinda lean towards that actually. Neither TSN or NHL.com has anything about it.

I'm pretty sure that just confirms that what I said was right. The team is NOT for sale; only some of the minority shares. And I don't want to hear any logistic horseshit about, "Well, the team technically IS for sale then! WAH WAH WAH!! BLOOBY-BLOO-BOO!!". Fuck you. The team's majority ownership will not change hands in this deal and therefore nothing will be any different.

But the most important question is..........why are the Devils winning? They shouldn't be ruled out yet for the playoffs.

Agreed. I literally am scared shitless that the Devils make the playoffs.

Best case scenario they finish in 10th or so, get themselves out of a high pick.

I can come to terms with the senseless violence, I understand that bad things happen to good people and that God doesn't intercede in mortal affairs in the way we might want him to, but what I don't understand is why he dyed his hair red. Doesn't the Joker have green hair? What, was Sally's Beauty Supply out of Electric Lizard Manic Panic or something?

Dude its like if the Giants started 0-6 and Philly started 4-2 in football. yeah the Giants can technically still win the division, but it sure as hell ain't happening.

If they didn't have to leapfrog so many other teams I might give them a chance but you're talking passing 7 teams to scrape into the playoffs with 30 games left. Barring 7 team plane crashes this isn't happening.
