Do you guys realize that the Rangers' PP is operating at 40% efficiency so far this series and at 19.2% throughout the playoffs have the best PP of the 4 teams remaining? That's fuckin crazy. It feels like it is so awful. -------------------- |

Apparently the assholes at the Prudential Center shut the lights off while the Rangers were still on the ice for the pregame warmups:

Don't they have at least one PP goal in the first 3 games while the Devs have 1 or none? And the Rangers started coming on in the 2nd half of period 2 so it's inaccurate to say their 1st 2 periods sucked. The 1st half of the GAME looked quite bad, the second (when it counted) looked much better to great. Puck like a hand grenade? That's a bit far ... maybe for a few stretches but how many insane, hi-light reel saves has Brodeur made? Give our boys a little more credit on offense. |

From Twitter. Not happy, but not surprised, either.

If the NHL Players' Discipline Department was consistent, then I would agree the 1-game suspension was proper, but there are many examples where an elbow was thrown (i.e. the Zubrus and Parise) that did not result in a hearing let along a suspension. Furthermore, the hit by Phillips in the Ottawa series did not even have a hearing. Although legal, the Neil hit on Boyle is very dangerous and one that has resulted in many injuries. And let's not talk the WWE immitation by Weber. Yes, Prust is one of the several Rangers' forwards with stone hands, but in a series where there is a lot of board work a guy like him is very important. Prust is also one of the PKrs (usually paired with Boyle) and as we saw yesterday special team play are key. With Dubi out, you have 2 of your main PKrs out. Looking at the entire prism let's not minimize his absent tomorrow. Prust icetime is in the 8-9 minures range. I don't see Bickel getting more than 3-4 minutes, especially when one takes into consideration Debbies have last change.

Prust got a game. Can't complain. Nope. (too bad he didn't get more) He has sucked, but who replaces him? Anyone. In 17 games Prust has managed 1 assist, a league-leading 11 minor penalties (all egregious or lazy, none were taking away scoring chances) and 17 shots on goal. The bar for his replacement is so low all he need do is basically show up with his jersey on frontwards. And I'm sure Torts will play whomever that is less than 5 minutes anyway. -------------------- RIP Ass Dan, 1981-2010.

Makes the Hagelin suspension that much harder to understand. I guess if you elbow a star player you get more games.

Was out this weekend but what a game. I know it's late but my 2 cents.
--Eminger looked really good out there. I know it's only 5 minutes, but just the overall confidence with and without the puck seemed vastly better. --All talk about the refs screwing the Rangers have to keep quiet with Game 3. Prust should have gotten at least 4 minutes if not a 5 minute major and there was nothing called. --My girlfriend, who hasn't watched much hockey until the playoffs noticed this (as we often do). That was a different team after Torts took the 2nd period timeout. --The Powerplay continues to be the unsung hero of the playoffs. While the percentage wasn't as good in the first 2 rounds, we routinely relied on having a man advantage (including 6 on 5's) to come up big. If the team actually learned how to score 5 on 5 again we could probably win the Cup. --Prust absolutely deserved a game suspension. Put Newbury in there. -------------------- |

By the way, I'm surprised there is no talk about this.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nhl/story/_/id...-devils-tactics QUOTE Livid with Devils coach Pete DeBoer's postgame comments about Rangers tough guy Brandon Prust -- DeBoer said Prust was "head-hunting" on an elbowing play that left Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov shaken up and earned Prust a one-game suspension -- Tortorella rattled off his own litany of complaints.
He began with two incidents involving Devils players -- a hit from Dainius Zubrus on Anton Stralman in the first period and Zach Parise's on Michael Del Zotto in the third -- and didn't stop there. "I look at Zubrus' elbow to Stralman, I look at Parise launching himself into Del Zotto," Tortorella said. "Maybe if our players stay down on the ice, we'll get something." -------------------- |
