The more things change, the more they stay the same. Reyes stranded at third base. Awesome.

Get your nose in the book, xdude. If you get someone like Sed in college, he'll make you feel the pain.

And Johan walked two guys in a row. Who is watching this?

I'm doing the same thing at work. I dunno about Johan. He cruised through the first two batters but he walked the next two before getting an out and he's throwing a lot of pitches.

...And for the second inning in a row, the Mets get a runner on second with no outs and can't score. Only Opening Day and they're already in mid-season form.

Go Reds! If this isn't the year they break out, it's definitely next year. At least that's what we've been saying the last 3 seasons.

They didn't open the season in Cincy like they traditionally did. They opened in Philly last night. They don't do the "the first game must be played in Cincy" thing any more, which is a real shame. You do know why they had that tradition, right?

I'm watching the game to get my baseball fix, Johan just flied out with the bases loaded. Tough break, he took a nice cut at it though, also my heart jumped for Mets fans when he lost his footing in the box. Scary stuff.

So, the three newbies come out of the bullpen to hold a 1 run lead for almost 4 innings. Didn't even let up a hit.

What a difference a year makes. Last year's bullpen couldn't hold a 1 run lead for 4 minutes let alone 4 innings.

PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!!!

K-Rod gets his first save on a 1-2-3 ninth and Johan gets the win as the Mets improve upon their MLB-best Opening Day record.

Too bad the offense is still anemic. Nah, Manny Ramirez wouldn't have helped.

I wanted manny here too, HOWEVER, the very thought of Delgado AND Manny both deciding they don't want to play at the same time is terrifying.

Not to mention when you have David the opposite of clutch Wright. Until he proves otherwise, I'm not clean slating him. I think he'll have amuch better season, but I will be watching him all season.

I was really pumped for todays game, and after 2 innings with 3 men left on, I instantly was brought back to last year.

That apple goes up and down awfully quick. It seems kinda. . .dirty.

And SATS, I actually was in favor of dumping Delgado and pursuing a different option. But I guess that was not to be.

I know it's baseball season when Rhino switches his avatar to the rhino with the Mets hat.

Did anyone see this video of Santana greeting his teammates?

Hysterical.

Ha! My co-worker and fellow Mets fan streams his home TV to his desktop (I know, I know, but we know all the IT guys), so we watched the first inning at his desk yesterday. We laughed for a while about that and how he's got a different one for each guy. We joked that the one he and K-Rod would come up with after K-Rod saves his games would probably take about 5 minutes to complete. It would have it's own story arc.

EDIT: Just watched it again. I have an even bigger man-crush on Johan than before. He's all kinds of awesome. You Yankee fans can have CC.

I love when Jose does this too. Brings life to the bench and shows the players interacting with each other forming unity! JOHAN BABY!!!!

Guilty. I've thought about trying to give him a Rangers jersey for hockey season, but unfortunately Carvel doesn't seem to sell those.
