Figured we could start a thread. I plan on watching.

My top 10:

1. Montreal (traded from Edmonton): Nail Yakupov
2. Columbus: Filip Forsberg
3. Edmonton (from Montreal): Ryan Murray
4. New York Islanders: Alex Galchenyuk
5. Toronto: Mikhail Grigorenko
6. Anaheim Ducks: Cody Ceci
7. Minnesota Wild: Griffin Reinhart
8. Carolina Hurricanes: Radek Faska
9. Winnipeg Jets: Morgan Reiley (big draft winners)
10. Tampa Bay Lightning: Olli Maatta

I'm retracting my stance on Grigorenko for sure going number 2, not because he is slipping but because I hear Columbus is VERY high on Forsberg. Can't see Edmonton (I'm assuming they are trading down to 3), or the Isles taking him then. I think 3 and 4 in my mock could get switched up if Edmonton stays at number 1 and takes Yakupov.

For the Rangers at 28 they may either try and trade up to the 15-17 range because talent after the top 20 is just nonexistant, or keep the pick.

Still think their best bet is Henrik Samuelsson, but he may be gone by 28. We'll see.

I'd be happy with either Pearson or Matteau. Pearson can flat out score and Matteau fits the system very well

I think they should draft a goalie if they can get one at their spot. Maybe Andrei Vasilevski if he's there.

I don't see the need to. Gordie Clark (Rangers director of scouting) said yesterday that he is very high on Cam Talbot, and they also have Missianen (sp?) and Stajcer in the system

No goalies in the first round. Bad juju.

I'll watch the first few picks, then come back later to see the Rangers pick.

I'll be concerned about going for a goalie in about 3 years.

Hank will be 33 years old then and 10 years in the league. There's nothing telling me though he can't play at an elite level for another 7-8 years though.

A lot of the media expects Murray to go #1. If Edmonton isn't taking Yakupov, then why not trade down, accumulate more picks and players, and draft Dumba or Reilly?
EDIT: They went with Yakupov

Yeah, if they didn't trade it HAD to be Yakupov. Have to go BPA.

Forsberg was super awesome at the World Juniors. And by super awesome I mean he had a bad tournament, but immediately after winning the gold he made sure to ask us media volunteers where to party for the night and was very gracious about taking photos.

EDIT: Reinhart is a great pick though. Could almost be better than Murray in a few years.

Forsberg and Grigorenko are falling FAST. Wow.

I don't like Europeans that fall off fast, especially Grigorenko.

Vancover's logo placed next to Minnesota's name on the TV draft board. Potential trade, or nothing more than a mistake?

xcdude,

I remember Grigo was like #2 for most of the year. Any particular reason why he fell so low in rankings?

I really have no clue. I know he had mono during the playoffs and people questioned his work ethic. Besides hat no clue. I had him at Toronto.

I was reading how he could be the big riser in the draft. Guess it worked out for him.

Was thinking more 12-15 but ok. Would never drafted him ahead of Forsberg.
