That's fuckin great. That one must be new because I haven't seen it before. You gotta give it to the Bruins media guys. They have some great commercials.
I just got another from one of my favorite US-born players: ![]() ![]() He wore this one on February 15, 2002 against Finland in the preliminary round of the Olympics. -------------------- They say 'eh' instead of 'what' or 'duh'. That's the mighty power of Canada.

Dude, you're not even gonna share the story?? About how you fleeced Steiner because of their own errors? Come on! Not a huge story really. For some reason I get e-mails from a couple different Steiner sales reps (all I bought from them previously was a '94 cup patch from their closeout section). I got one from a specific rep saying if you call him everything on Steiner's site is 2-for-1 for a limited time. So I called another Steiner rep, one I had spoken to before about the Rangers Heritage 3rds, and asked him if he could give me the same deal. He says he can match the deal until I tell him I'm interested Wolf Pack gamers. He said game-worn/used items are always exempt from sales. I told him the e-mail I got said literally any item on Steiner.com - He put me on hold then came back and said yeah he can do it. Anyway, later when I got my order confirmation, I remembered to look at the original e-mail from the other sales rep. It says the sale is on everything and that you can get any two items on the site. Then I look at the bottom, "Stadium Memorabilia, Seats, & Game Used do not apply." So I don't think I fleeced them as Mike said, I just lucked out and got a good deal. -------------------- |

I wear my retail ones to games and such. I don't wear my game-worn ones though. Those stay on the hangers. However, I do have one jersey in a frame box on my wall as a display.

Do you guys wear these jerseys? Display them? Wear them. I've worn some gamers out, such as my team iceland one. Its blue and I don't eat in it, so its all good. I plan on wearing my latest pickup (which is being shipped) to the World Juniors for select games. -------------------- |

HA! Well, I do appreciate the fact that you think I'd be able to afford a Beukeboom gamer, Paul...-but no, it's just a huuuuuuuge retailed Starter jersey. It worked out perfect because he wore a size 60 in Starter and this one IS a 60 so it's kinda like it is his jersey. Only minus a shitload of wear.

I bet a Beuk gamer has lots of wear even after just one game.

I've only ever seen one Jeff Beukeboom Rangers jersey in all my years of collecting and I actually saw it very recently. It was the white Liberty jersey from 1998-99 and he wore it for only two games before he was forced to retire due to post-concussion syndrome. No thanks to that flaming pile of dogshit Matt Johnson who sucker-punched him and effectively ended his career, of course...

Granted it was worn for 2 games, and only about 30 minutes of icetime, so yeah makes sense. -------------------- |

Grats on the Beuke, Mike ... and yours isn't crooked like mine.
In other jersey news, apparently the Blue Jackets have deemed their new 3rd jersey "cursed" which is why they didn't wear it last Saturday against the Rangers. They are also phasing out the phallic cannon mascot. -------------------- |

Yo Matt, if you want, I could try to fix the name on your Beukeboom jersey. The Starter jerseys never really take to a heat-seal as strong as other jerseys do so the letters would probably come off fairly easily.

I'll let you take a crack at it sometime, but honestly right now it's low on my list and you know how big that list is. I do sincerely plan on taking a chunk of my income tax this year and trying to knock off like 20 jerseys off my "waiting for customization" list - which sadly won't dent it too much. Anyway, I expect to be sending you a lot more work in the new year. -------------------- |

Last night during the game, I noticed how the shoulder numbers on the Rangers jerseys looked especially small, especially when compared to the Pens shoulder numbers on face-offs. Obviously there's a font difference, and the Pens use 3 layers etc. but it just seemed striking.
I thought of it again today right as I was leaving for work and compared my Rangers Sjostrom Edge gamer to my Rangers McKenna Koho gamer, and sure enough the shoulder numbers are smaller by an inch at least. I am late in discovering this, my fellow Rangers jersey nerds, or is this news to anyone else? I had previously noticed they did something similar on Wolf Pack jerseys, the Edge styles have smaller shoulder numbers and smaller shoulder patches, but I never thought to check my Rangers jerseys. Oh yeh, when is someone going to post a pic of this magic Gartner jersey Blue stitched for Nilan that has the power to make the Rangers stomp the Pens? -------------------- |

Okay, here's what I'm talking about on the sleeve numbers (Koho on the left / Edge on the right - both gamers)

I've noticed it too to be honest. I guess that was the other switch into the EDGE jerseys along with the nameplates and less-arched names.
Speaking of, does your game-worn one have an air-knit or an EDGE plate? -------------------- They say 'eh' instead of 'what' or 'duh'. That's the mighty power of Canada.

Speaking of, does your game-worn one have an air-knit or an EDGE plate? I noticed it on the Wolf Pack jerseys, but they also switched fonts so I didn't think to look at my Rangers. I wonder how many other teams did that. I'm just glad I noticed before I ordered kits for my 2 Edge blanks. As for my Sjo gamer, it's Edge material for the nameplate. The shininess seems to be because the "grain" of the fabric of the nameplate is 90 degrees off of that of the back material. -------------------- |

Here's something to get you guys fired up:
I was walking by a pick-up game and there was a guy wearing a Messier jersey. The name was arched, but, even worse, there was no "C". I could really care less about the name (on other people's jerseys of course), but not to have the "C" on there is blasphemy!!! -------------------- "Good people drink good beer."— Hunter S. I don't get what you mean on name - the Rangers had arched names the entire time Mess played in New York (both times). The only exception would be specialty TBTC/vintage throwbacks they wore a couple times. As for the "C" I do agree that's just silly - just as bad as the Rangers Greztky jerseys with a "C" on them they seem to be everywhere. -------------------- |

Matt, I think you just made Scott's head explode because odds are he has no idea what you're talking about. It's the same as that blank stare I get from him when I go into detail about why certain jerseys in the bar or at the game are wrong.

The funny thing is, after I posted I thought I was an idiot because I thought maybe he was referring to "radial arc" lettering versus "arched" lettering and I figured I was setting myself up for a "no duh" moment.

Oh christ. I think the authentic Richter that I have might be the radial arc. I don't have it with me to check. I've had it since the mid 90's, you'd think I'd know if it was one or the other. The material is wrong and the fight strap is a horrible fake. If it were a true Nike Swift jersey(which is the only way you'll find one with a fight strap), the material would look almost like a checkerboard pattern but all the same color obviously. Also, the strap would be stitched on with a bigger piece of twill(not fabric like that one) using a zig-zag pattern and would look like this:
![]() If it were a legit replica, there would be no strap and the tagging would be a different color. The size letter would be black, there'd be no orange in the tag and I don't think there would be a Nike Bauer logo but just a Nike swoosh. EDIT: Also, I think the Nike int'l replicas are made in Vietnam rather than Korea. I have a Mike York USA replica that I bought at MSG several years ago, and I'm pretty sure that it was made in Vietnam. I have one of those, too. I figured I was the only one since I don't like to get the "popular" jerseys. It must be something in the Middlesex County water. -------------------- "Good people drink good beer."— Hunter S. Good call. Yeah, I checked out my replica from these previous Olympics and it's from Vietnam as well. That's not to say that Nike replicas AREN'T made in Korea; because, as far as I know, they could be. I don't have a lot of experience with replica jerseys and I'm not up on where they're made and such. When it comes to the pro ones though, they're all made in Canada. If you ever have a question about a pro jersey that isn't made in Canada, it's a counterfeit. Reebok(CCM/KOHO) and Nike(Bauer/SP) are and always were manufactured in Canada. The only on-ice jerseys ever used by the NHL that weren't made in Canada were Starter jerseys. They were made in Berlin, Wisconsin.

Mike - I have an Everton shirt that I'd like to personalize, and I've found a place in NJ where I can get all of the official EPL badging and lettering. It's all heat-pressed stuff, and I'd like to know if there are any tips that you might have for doing it well.

Uhhhh...I really don't know. They don't sew anything on, right? I'm pretty sure everything on soccer jerseys is all heat-sealed. All I'd do is make sure the place doing it has a good picture of how and where it's placed on the back. That's what I do whenever I order my lettering kits for my jerseys. I bombard them with images so it's impossible to fuck it up without really being incompetent.
EDIT: But then you already said that it's heat-pressed, didn't you? Dur. Don't mind me. This post has been edited by Bleedin-Blue: Dec 21 2010, 01:18 PM -------------------- They say 'eh' instead of 'what' or 'duh'. That's the mighty power of Canada.

Of course Mike is 100% correct - I just wanted to add that "on-ice" isn't always the same as "retail authentic" - Starter had some retail authentic jerseys (fight strap/numeric sizing) that were made El Salvador or Haiti. So if someone finds an old Starter authentic tagged as being made from either of those places, they can still be legit authentic jerseys. -------------------- |

Great point, Matt; I did overlook that. Thanks. Also of note is that the Haiti ones came without fight straps and double-elbows. I still don't understand that one.

I think was only the first round of 3rd jerseys - if I recall correctly - and limited to just the sublimated knit jerseys (Pens grey stripe and Bruins pooh-bear). The only other 3rd Starter made then was the Rangers Liberty and I haven't ever seen a authentic mesh one without a fight strap or double elbows. I'll check when I get home if I have any Starter authentics from Haiti. I know have some from Berlin, WI and quite a few from El Salvador. -------------------- |

Another stupid n00b question, then - how tough do you think that it'd be to find a place to do it for me? I already have the shirt, and I'm guessing that most places won't want to do it unless I'm buying a shirt from them, no? -------------------- |

You know, to be honest, you could probably apply it yourself. All that has to be done is for it to be heat-sealed, right?

Well, if you want, I could give it a shot. I heat-seal all my stuff before sewing it on so I know how to do it. All I'd need is a shot of how it's all positioned on the back.
