. . .and another bad sunburn. *sigh*

I put on sunscreen and I STILL burn. . .specifically on memorial day because i'm working and i'm outside through it all. nothing like baking in the sun covering the ceremonies following the parade.

anyway, i just don't know what sunscreen to use any more. i re-apply and on a day like today i still burn. anyone have any suggestions?

i shouldnt even be complaining because i'll be tan by wednesday (love that Italian skin), but it's still a pain.

Avoid future exposure. Not getting burnt in the first place is the best, obviously. I don't put much faith in sunscreen, since the time that I had an allergic reaction to one and another claiming to be SPF 50 seemed to wear off after like half an hour. I've started wearing long-sleeve UV protective shirts when I run.

I dunno - I burn pretty easily too. Cold compresses usually help.

Coppertone Sport 30 is pretty good. Used it on Mediterranean beaches and stayed pretty much OK.
You need to re-apply it every 2 hours just to be safe. Not very convenient, but practical.

UV rating was 11 down here the last two days---10 minutes exposed and you start burning.

Thats what i use and it works well. I use the spray on bottle, makes it easy to apply. ..........and I burn VERY easily so it must be decent if it keeps me from becoming a lobster.

Most places the UV rating only goes up to 10.

huh. a Memorial Day thread without a single Memorial Day message. who knew?
I took my 6 year old to the USS Lexington CV-16 on Sunday. That was really, really cool. I mean, my great uncle came home from Japan on Intrepid and I got to tour that boat 10 years ago, but the Lex has some really cool access and stories. A powerful tour.
Thank you, Vets!
Maybe I'll post some pics here later.

Oh, and Ocean Potion 50 is my favorite UV shielding. cool.gif

Would he accuse high UV levels of being gay? Or would it be that the UV map is tolerant of gay people in the South?

They are in fact gay. This is why rednecks keep true to their name and don't use any sunscreen. That would be contrued as an act of gay. They abandon the idea of suncreen so they get a red neck and satisy their quarterly requirement of a societal contribution.

Personally I like the No-Ad sunscreen line. It seems to work very well, and some of the products are water-proof. I guess you could apply it as often as you would apply the regular kind to be safe. Bummer on the burning - you should wear a nice wide-brim hat, sunglasses, and a loose but long-sleeve shirt/dress. I guess you'd look a little odd, but maybe it would be worth it to prevent getting skin cancer somewhere down the road.
