I was wondering this exact same thing this morning. I want to disable FB updates, because I'm sure it's annoying for my friends to see that all day, but within the app I want people to see what I'm listening to. Kusand seems to have figured out whatever setting that is. Did you just delete the Spotify app from your FB profile?

I think it was a setting in Spotify. I actually like seeing what you and some other people are listening to in my Facebook feed and would not mind sharing that info with some people but I can imagine that it would get on other people's nerves so I blocked it from my feed.

Well, that and, "Cliff is listening to 'Conversations with My 16 Year old Self' by P!nk."

(No, seriously, that's a good song.)

I'm seeing them this Thursday and for the love of god, hope they don't play that song. Their new album is snot bad. Not their best by a long shot but sticking to their guns and their familiar sound which I've always liked. It will appeal to existing fans but probably won't win them many new ones.

When I first read this, I thought "wow, he really hates their new album!"

Aphex Twin. Such good shit, electronic music at its best.

Can be abrasive as hell though.

Also, Lana Del Rey Tomorrow! It's going to be such an overproduced hot mess, I'm excited.

Out of place trip-hop beats? Check.

Melodramatic self-deprecating lyrics? Check.

The line "Drinking in the small town firelight (Pabst Blue Ribbon on ice)"? Check.

More production than a Broadway Musical? Check.

It's a shame really too. Some of the songs just so strong, and the rest are just laughably bad (which I was afraid of). She has an amazing voice, but she's so marketed and the revile is so strong when she figures it out and tones it down for a stronger album it probably wont' matter. Oh well, we will always have Video games!

I'm super pumped for Fiona Apple though.

I don't think I've ever given love to M. Ward on here before. I've been listening to his album "Post War" like crazy recently.

I'm also a pretty big Broken Social Scene fan. I saw them live last year and it was one of the tightest, best prepared live shows I've ever seen. It was about an hour or so (they were also followed by Panda Bear which was sweet) of really tight, clean rock.

I've been listening to "You Forgot it in People" a lot recently to. What an album. A few A+ songs (KC Accidental, Anthems for a 17 year old Girl) and no weak tracks.

Could 2012 FINALLY be the year for the new Avalanches album?

QUOTE
And if a fresh look is what Herrema's after, it can't hurt that she's about to go on tour in support of Sleigh Bells, and has unexpectedly teamed up for a new track with pioneering sample collagists the Avalanches. The Australian group teased the news that they're preparing their first proper studio album in over a decade by tweeting about the Herrema collaboration in December. "They said the album is definitely going to come out this year," mentioned Herrema, referring to the the long-delayed release. (Lol, we've heard that one before!) "And I heard Danny Brown is going to guest on the record, too." (OK, that we hadn't heard.)

Herrema says the unlikely pairing came "out of the blue" when the Avalanches' Robbie Chater emailed her hoping she'd be up for writing lyrics to a song called "The Stepkids". "They had some music, and it made them think of a song I would have written, maybe something Royal Trux or RTX did. There's something inspired by youth, shit I've been through," she said. Check out a lyric sheet for "The Stepkids", tweeted by the Avalanches:

Seriously, y'all need to take that Hospitality recommendation seriously.

This opening track along with your recommendation had me really excited for this album but the rest of the album isn't quite clicking with me yet. Some of the songs are great and others feel a bit like something I've heard before from Vampire Weekend, but with Jenny Lewis singing. I suspect it might grow on me though.

Maybe it's where my head is because no album is really clicking with me so far this year. The opening track off Mark Lanegan's new album is really good but after that it's a mixed bag.

I think I kind of love the upcoming Lambchop album but you've got to be in the right mood for it so I'm not obsessed with it yet. Dig this track though:

Spotify recommended Liz Greene to me and, again, the first track got me really excited but then the rest of the album was just okay. She reminds me of Alela Diane:

Right now I'm listening to the new album by The Twilight Sad. It sounds like The Twilight Sad. I'm not done with it yet.

I avoided SBTRKT just on principle because of his name. Tried it the other day, and went from "meh" on the first listen to, "hmm, this is pretty good" on second, then to "I affirmatively enjoy this" on the third.

I have over 300 Elliott Smith plays this week. THIS WEEK.

That seems to suggest I am deeply depressed. I should see someone.

Went to see The Kills last night at Terminal 5, and they were awesome. Really dramatic and energetic. They had a four-piece tom accompaniment with them, with synched parts and moves. Cool visual. It made me think that I was wrong for not liking Blood Pressures more, because those songs they did sounded great. I still think No Wow is a better album, though. Or shit, maybe it isn't.

From Blood Pressures (this particularly rocked last night):

From No Wow:

Perhaps a controversial opinion here, but I heard a song on the radio yesterday and thought it was some shitty Nickelback ripoff band like Shinedown or all the other shitty Nickelback type bands that seem to get airplay.

Then the chorus kicked in and it was Dave Grohl. I was shocked. The new (to me) Foo Fighters song sounds like Nickelback in the verses. Weird. Then again, for every Everlong that band has a dozen My Heroes, so it shouldn't be too surprising.

Foo Fighters is incapable of living down The Colour And The Shape, an album I adored in high school. They never really came close again to tracks like February Stars.

I completely 100% agree. Every record that followed has it moments, but that is THE record.

Foo Fighters is incapable of living down The Colour And The Shape, an album I adored in high school. They never really came close again to tracks like February Stars.

I'll add my vote here - though I've liked their albums since, that one was the apex.

I'm no Foo Fighters connoisseur , but here are their best songs to me:

Baker Street
Darling Nikki
Everlong
The Pretender
This is a Call
Alone + Easy Target

Their Greatest Hits lineup makes me cringe. My Hero? Learn to Fly? Times Like These? Big Me? Every time this band slows down they suck incredibly hard. They have some great uptempo songs, but when they stop rocking they make my ears hurt. This is why I have trouble respecting them. Although I didn't realize they also covered Down in the Park, and I'm currently enjoying this.

Also, I'm on Spotify, and that song I hated was These Days.

Also, if we're discussing nostalgia and bands I have unlikeable opinions on, can I say that the best Radiohead album is The Bends and the best song is Just?

I'm going to get crucified for this, but Amnesiac was better than Kid A.

Though I think Radiohead is on another level, so don't take that as a slight against Kid A.

Just heard of this guy today, given the album a few listens, and it's pretty amazing.

I get the sense that his fans and target audience are of a different, um persuasion than I am (as evidenced by this video), so if that's true no one tell me.

Just and Creep are easily my favorite Radiohead tunes.

On certain days, I agree with this. My favorite Radiohead record is In Rainbows and then I have equal love for all the rest of them. Going to see them in Austin in less than a month. Sqqqqqquuueeeeeeeaaalllllll. Eeeeeeeeeeee.

Has anyone ever gone to, or know anyone who's gone to Bonnaroo? Any thoughts? I generally dislike festivals, especially ones that big, and the thought of being in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of hippies really, really does not appeal to me. But so many people gush about it, and the lineups are always great.

I started planning for it last year, but both of my friends that I wanted to go with bailed on me. It's actually only a 6ish hour drive from Atlanta, so if its a weekend I can get off Friday from work and people are willing to come down I'd definitely drive them up there.

People I worked with last year said its just lots of fun because the musical acts are really good. If it weren't for that then its not worth it at all.
