Totally.

3 wack ass sources called the shot yesterday.

Said guy above in this thread.

A kid who works for the Houston Aeros popping off in the lockerroom at our local rink yesterday saying he was told to get back to Houston ASAP as "the show" was about to start.

And Boomer Esiason.

So much for Darren Dreger.

Boomer Esiason got a lot of shite last night on Twitter but he was spot on saying the lockout was over. I think all the journalists were pissed off that the former football guy seemed to have better and deeper inside intel than they did. Well I guess if I were them, that would piss me off, too. Still, Boomer was right.

This lockout definitely brought the catty bitch out of the hockey writers. LOVED when the writers actually had to give Eklund credit for a scoop laugh2.gif

Well, the thing is, even if they were "hearing things", they can't run with it. They have credibility at stake. Boomer is buddies with Richards and stuff, and really loses nothing with a midnight hockey tweet on Saturday. He's got nothing to lose.

What the worst that happens? Someone calls him out on it on the show Monday? No one cares, they'll be talking about RGIII's knee within 30 seconds of that.

This is the only place on the internet I heard about this.

In fact, I heard about this here late last night. Went all of Sunday, browsing as I usually do, even watching some TV, without hearing any mention of the NHL coming to an agreement to save the season.

Hooray hockey!

Same player who talked to me about the last two negotiations said that it's far from over. A group within the PA that are unhappy and wants to continue fighting. There is a chance that something can go wrong, but with players coming back from Europe there is also pressure to just get the season started.

If the NHLPA wants to fight this then they're going to get DESTROYED by fans, media and the like. At this point people are happy it's over. Any side that tries to take away their hockey will burn for it.

The Equivocator

No matter what was happening, this guy insisted that everyone was equally at fault. If you expressed an opinion about anything that the league or players have done, The Equivocator would instantly appear, reminding you that both sides are always exactly the same, so there’s no point even talking about this.

After all, this was just a billion-dollar industry undergoing an entirely self-inflicted implosion over several months in front of a dumbfounded public — it was certainly no time to start assigning blame!

You could always quickly spot The Equivocator by his inability to utter more than three sentences without dismissively using the phrase “millionaires vs. billionaires.â€

Brilliant.

I'm sort of the anti-boycotter. As much as I hated everything about the lockout, I knew I'd come rushing back with my tail between my legs the moment the league started again. I guess I'd be the compulsive Twitter updater?

It is doubtful, but if anything happens that destroys the final process to complete the CBA then it is definitely the PA's fault. These guys want to play and get paid. Whoever didn't go to Europe wants a paycheck right now.

So even if the Board of Governors reject the CBA it's the players fault?

....no. I said earlier that a group in the PA doesn't want to conclude this deal. The owners are set with these terms. The dickish obnoxious arrogance on here is limitless. Like a growing fungus.

And then you said if anything happens to derail the CBA the players are at fault. Can't help but doubt your intent given your past positions.

Regardless, there's no way either side does anything but approve the deal. Not at this point anyway. Not even Jacobs is that stupid.

Because of the stupid lockout I followed many more names in the hockey writing world than I normally would have. So yesterday I got to see a number of teams post practice video or quotes. These guys are so pumped they can hardly contain themselves. I doubt that group of hardline players trying to hold out for more would have enough numbers to have any impact within the union based on what I saw yesterday.

Yes, a group in the PA (i don't think it's players though) doesn't want to conclude this deal. I said that. Then replied to someone who said that if so, no one would forgive them. To which i then replied that it would be the PA's fault if this deal dissolves. Yeah?

My past positions for this CBA were that i didn't see a lockout happening because i liked Fehr and thought he would do a good job, plus that some owners wanted to get the season underway ASAP, and some players earning big salaries didn't want to miss out. Lockout happened and i blamed the owners. Then when the owners were recognized as making significant steps forward in recent offers and Fehr coming up with nothing significant, then i got pissed off at him as well.

The 50/50 split was an unacceptable part of the deal from the PA's point of view. We wasted how many months on that where in the end the PA now agreed to it?

They are both at fault for this half season, but it's been done and if this group from the PA sides actually does something then it is the PA's fault. But, you are right that at this point nothing will happen to stop this CBA's final approval. Training camps should start Saturday/Sunday. I can't wait smile.gif

So far, a good start to 2013 for me! .................so far....

The voting results were 667 in favor, with 12 votes against ratifying the agreement, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. Of the 763 players, 679 voted (89 percent), according to LeBrun.
