SATS and I came up with an idea for fun. We picked 60 wrestlers from the 90's on, or wrestlers we have actually seen in our lifetimes, and created a "March Madness" tournament. We randomized the names to create unique matchups.

Feel free to join in the conversation and give your thoughts on each matchup. We'll have final say though otherwise we'd end up with a write in campaign for a Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett final.

I'll vote now but maybe I'll give my explanations later in a drunken stupor.

Oh my god, I can't believe the randomizer threw hogan vs macho man out in the first round. I was about to start voting and then had to stop when I realized what was happening here.

One of the gobbledy Gooker and hurricane will move on while hogan or macho man go home. I LOVE IT!!!!

So yeah, basically greatone and I will go down the list giving our votes and reasons. Think of this as our personal march madness as if you were reading a top 60 countdown list on another site. You might disagree on some of our choices, but when we disagree with each other, your votes will help influence the results.

Looks like we have a bunch of fights right off the bat.

Owen hart and Eddie landing against each other is a freaky ass coincidence. Vince and Austin first round it pretty funny too. I wanted to see Vince go through, oh well.

What's the criteria here? Terry funk in his prime, or 78 year old no kneecap terry funk?

So, my voting is literally personal preference and entertainment value. Certain huge names for the industry I just never liked.

#1 John Cena vs. #60 Val Venis - I hated cena from day one. Friends in high school quoted Val all the time and his finishing move was called the money shot. Val Venis.

#2 Legion of Doom vs. #59 Dudley Boyz - Dudley boys did some crazy things through their career. Legion of doom was great but if I'm going pure personal entertainment, it's the Dudleys.

#3 Ultimate Warrior vs. #58 Raven - really surprised greatone went raven with this one. Ultimate warrior all the way. Nobody owned a raven wrestling pillow buddy. Ultimate warrior.

#4 The Mountie vs. #57 Iron Sheik - quintessential wrestling villain in sheik. Plus he's batshit crazy.

#5 Randy Savage vs. #56 Hulk Hogan - hogan was my icon as a kid but macho was so much more fun. Ooooh yeah. Macho.

#6 British Bulldog vs. #55 Goldust - Bulldog. Sorry Goldie.

#7 Roddy Piper vs. #54 Bam Bam Bigelow - piper, tough draw for bam bam.

#8 Gobbledy Gooker vs. #53 The Hurricane - Hurricane, three weeks in a row put on my favorite raw matches. He's a dark horse people.

#9 Edge vs. #52 Undertaker - brutal brutal draw for edge. Taker.

#10 New Age Outlaws vs. #51 Ric Flair - OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW!??!! I've never been a huge flair guy. NAO

#11 Chris Jericho vs. #50 Doink the Clown - c'mon

#12 Jeff Jarrett vs. #49 Sting - sting.

#13 APA vs. #48 Kevin Nash/Diesel - gotta go diesel. Involvement in now easily trumps apa.

#14 Kurt Angle vs. #47 HHH - HHH, plus, new all know how I feel about the Olympics.

#15 Al Snow vs. #46 The Rock - please. I loved how weird snow was but I've been quoting the rock for over a decade.

#16 Yokozuna vs. #45 Big Boss Man - I already forgot who I voted for. Greatone you went opposite of me, who did you go with? I think I went Yokozuna, I'll never forget the rumble where no one could lift him out.

#17 Mankind vs. #44 Scott Steiner - the foley baby. I use the same dentist as him.

#18 Jake Roberts vs. #43 Shawn Michaels - I think I went jake the snake. I'll never forget him using that damn snake n macho man. It terrified me.

#19 Eddie Guerrero vs. #42 Owen Hart - this is so weird, I went Eddie.

#20 Curt Henning vs. #41 Hacksaw Jim Duggan - hacksaw

#21 Big Show vs. #40 Fandango - I've never liked big show ever. Fandango has entertained me more not wrestling than big show ever did wrestling. Faaaaandaaaaangoooooo!

#22 Lex Luger vs. #39 Hardy Boyz - hardy boyz again for entertainment value. Tough daw for lex.

#23 Rey Mysterio vs. #38 Bret Hart - hart

#24 Million Dollar Man vs. #37 Bushwhackers - had to think about this one but I used to walk around my house doing their arm thing. Million dollar man was awesome but again, it's sports ENTERTAINMENT

#25 Rob Van Dam vs. #36 Scott Hall/Razor Ramon - hey yo, vs a guy who got his name because he kind of looks like someone. Razor Ramone.

#26 Stone Cold vs. #35 Vince McMahon - stone cold. Would've liked to see Vince go further but c'mon.

#27 CM Punk vs. #34 Terry Funk - punk, sorry terry, the pipe bomb gets him some passes alone until later rounds.

#28 Vader vs. #33 Goldberg - I went vader, was never big on Goldberg. I was more amused by Gilberg than Goldberg. Fake fan chanting? Ugh,

#29 IRS vs. #32 Rick Rude - IRS, always liked him.

#30 Kane vs. #31 Earthquake - I really like Kane but I remember being in awe of earthquake as a kid. I appreciate everything Kane has done, but part of me keeps thinking about how he's ridden takers coat tails to do it.

This was literally "top 60 wrestlers we liked. We had to cut a few good guys in the interest of having a top 60 we were both happy with.

As far as criteria, entire career is up for grabs.

I voted for Cena for the simple fact that the Raw when Venis had his Big Bowboski chopped off(or almost) tramatized me dramatically as a 12 year old. I still dont trust Asian girls.

QUOTE
#2 Legion of Doom vs. #59 Dudley Boyz - Dudley boys did some crazy things through their career. Legion of doom was great but if I'm going pure personal entertainment, it's the Dudleys.

Dudleys because those fat fucks could move.

QUOTE
#3 Ultimate Warrior vs. #58 Raven - really surprised greatone went raven with this one. Ultimate warrior all the way. Nobody owned a raven wrestling pillow buddy. Ultimate warrior.

Warrior sucks. So overrated. I thought Ravens lunatic rants were so fucking deep. Which if I ever snap and end up in jail you can point the previous sentence out to my father and other supposed role models.

QUOTE
#4 The Mountie vs. #57 Iron Sheik - quintessential wrestling villain in sheik. Plus he's batshit crazy.

Sheik.

QUOTE
#5 Randy Savage vs. #56 Hulk Hogan - hogan was my icon as a kid but macho was so much more fun. Ooooh yeah. Macho.

This was tough. I was leaning Hogan because his Hollywood theme is one of the best ever and his heel turn is probably a top-5 moment in the history of the business. I went Macho Man since he could actually wrestle and Miss Elizabeth was smoking.

QUOTE
#6 British Bulldog vs. #55 Goldust - Bulldog. Sorry Goldie.

Goldust. Was such a unique character and had some great feuds. I liked BB but Goldust was more entertaining.

QUOTE
#7 Roddy Piper vs. #54 Bam Bam Bigelow - piper, tough draw for bam bam.

Pipers pit defeats Bam Bam wrestling in flames in old school WWF video games.

QUOTE
#8 Gobbledy Gooker vs. #53 The Hurricane - Hurricane, three weeks in a row put on my favorite raw matches. He's a dark horse people.

His matches against HHH when Hunter was legit shocked at some of his moves was gold.

QUOTE
#9 Edge vs. #52 Undertaker - brutal brutal draw for edge. Taker.

Agreed. Great wrestler against a legend.

QUOTE
#10 New Age Outlaws vs. #51 Ric Flair - OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW!??!! I've never been a huge flair guy. NAO

Picked NOA as well. Just a preference. Flair is way more successful but he held on too long.

QUOTE
#12 Jeff Jarrett vs. #49 Sting - sting.

Went Sting but it was close for me.

QUOTE
#13 APA vs. #48 Kevin Nash/Diesel - gotta go diesel. Involvement in now easily trumps apa.

Diesel. Damn!

QUOTE
#15 Al Snow vs. #46 The Rock - please. I loved how weird snow was but I've been quoting the rock for over a decade.

QUOTE
#16 Yokozuna vs. #45 Big Boss Man - I already forgot who I voted for. Greatone you went opposite of me, who did you go with? I think I went Yokozuna, I'll never forget the rumble where no one could lift him out.

Went Big Boss Man. Granted Yoko was at the end when I really started following by Boss Man gets my vote based on the totality of his career. Huge role in the Attitude Era.

QUOTE
#18 Jake Roberts vs. #43 Shawn Michaels - I think I went jake the snake. I'll never forget him using that damn snake n macho man. It terrified me.

You're nuts. You voted for a guy who carried a snake in a bag over HBK? Michaels WAS the WWE for most of his career. 4 of his matches rank in the top-10 of my lifetime. Great on the mic. Great tag team twice. Great heel turns. Great return after severe injury. Probably the best all around guy ever.

QUOTE
#19 Eddie Guerrero vs. #42 Owen Hart - this is so weird, I went Eddie.

Same. Owen was solid but he got by based off his last name. The most memorable thing of his career was a puny fan impersonating him with DX.

QUOTE
#22 Lex Luger vs. #39 Hardy Boyz - hardy boyz again for entertainment value. Tough daw for lex.

Hardy Boyz. Luger was the man but the Hardys are probably the most extreme mainstream tag team of the last 15 years. Those TLC matches are EPIC/vintage JK

QUOTE
#25 Rob Van Dam vs. #36 Scott Hall/Razor Ramon - hey yo, vs a guy who got his name because he kind of looks like someone. Razor Ramone.

RVD is super underrated. But Razor was the epitome of cool.

QUOTE
#26 Stone Cold vs. #35 Vince McMahon - stone cold. Would've liked to see Vince go further but c'mon.

Fitting that Austin is the one to knock out Vince.

QUOTE
#27 CM Punk vs. #34 Terry Funk - punk, sorry terry, the pipe bomb gets him some passes alone until later rounds.

Terry Funk wore a snapback hat in 1998, got chokeslammed out of his shoes and had a seizure from it. Punk.

QUOTE
#28 Vader vs. #33 Goldberg - I went vader, was never big on Goldberg. I was more amused by Gilberg than Goldberg. Fake fan chanting? Ugh,

Goldberg! Massive undefeated streak, ended Harts career and when he first beat Hogan for the title it was one of the matches I was 110% invested in. Plus, it is tough to find a wrestling jew.

QUOTE
#29 IRS vs. #32 Rick Rude - IRS, always liked him.

Rick Rude for no particular reason.

QUOTE
#30 Kane vs. #31 Earthquake - I really like Kane but I remember being in awe of earthquake as a kid. I appreciate everything Kane has done, but part of me keeps thinking about how he's ridden takers coat tails to do it.

Kane. The last half of his career is ruining him but the first five or so years trumps Quake.

I saw CM PUNK actually wrestle Terry funk in a rec hall in philly ten years ago, it was something.

My voting matches most of the current leaders except i voted Angle, I think people forget how awesome he really was in his wwe days. A total natural in every way, Cripple H is more politics than greatness.

Alright, I guess it's point counterpoint time:

I know you don't even like Cena. Let's knock this bitch out now! "Helllooooo Ladies" is infinitely better than pointing at the camera while saying some shit no one understands. "herp you know you're ready, You like it" salute. Blech LOL, I'm half kidding to try and move Venis on and knockout Cena because I do appreciate his role, but seriously, we both dislike the dude.

QUOTE
Warrior sucks. So overrated. I thought Ravens lunatic rants were so fucking deep. Which if I ever snap and end up in jail you can point the previous sentence out to my father and other supposed role models.

I think this and Jake the snake are where our age difference will come into play in these arguments. You're nuts. I don't dislike Raven, but up against the Ultimate Warrior? C'mon. BTW, we're talking original WWF warrior, first ever person to hold both the IC and the WWF belt.

QUOTE
Goldust. Was such a unique character and had some great feuds. I liked BB but Goldust was more entertaining.

You swayed me.

QUOTE
Went Big Boss Man. Granted Yoko was at the end when I really started following by Boss Man gets my vote based on the totality of his career. Huge role in the Attitude Era.

See, I didn't watch a lot during the beginning of the Attitude era. Leading up to the Rumble I kept saying to my dad "how is anyone going to get Yoko out of the ring?" and sure enough that was the angle they took. Something like 7 guys trying to unsuccessfully lift him.

However, While you remember Boss Man for the Attitude era, I remember him in his fueds with the Mounty, lumberjack matches and jailhouse matches, so again, I'll concede this one.

QUOTE

This is the age thing again, I think. Like I said in the wrestling thread, when I think wrestlingin the 80s as a kid I think Jake, Hogan, Macho Man.

QUOTE
Goldberg! Massive undefeated streak, ended Harts career and when he first beat Hogan for the title it was one of the matches I was 110% invested in. Plus, it is tough to find a wrestling jew.

Looks like we found our big feud for the first round. Fuck Goldberg. He always kind of hated the product, it was a cash grab for him, his undefeated streak was garbage, FAN CHANTING OVER THE LOUDSPEAKERS and frankly, he wasn't all that great in the ring. If we're gunna knock owen for being mocked by a skinny twerp, again gillberg. Tell me you didn't laugh when he came out hitting his hands to canned fan chants and damned sparklers. I'd give you this one against a select few on the list, but Vader? No way.

QUOTE
Rick Rude for no particular reason.

I don't know where to go with this one. I don't really feel like fighting for IRS and you have no particular reason for picking Rude. I guess this is one we'll let the voting decide on.

QUOTE
Kane. The last half of his career is ruining him but the first five or so years trumps Quake.

I actually disagree, I'm actually enjoying this part of his career, but ya know what, screw it, I'll switch over to Kane.

Your move.

Hustle. Loyalty. Respect.

Yeah, Venis advances.

QUOTE
I think this and Jake the snake are where our age difference will come into play in these arguments. You're nuts. I don't dislike Raven, but up against the Ultimate Warrior? C'mon. BTW, we're talking original WWF warrior, first ever person to hold both the IC and the WWF belt.

I'll concede this one. Warrior is one of the best of his era. I just don't think he is an all time great. The Derek Jeter of WWE.

QUOTE
This is the age thing again, I think. Like I said in the wrestling thread, when I think wrestlingin the 80s as a kid I think Jake, Hogan, Macho Man.

I will fight to the death for Michaels. It's gonna have to be a Mount Rushmore type guy to knock him out and I don't think Roberts is that guy. Both are legends and I'm not saying Roberts is trash or anything. In fact I like Roberts the best out of him, Savage and Hogan. I just like Michaels more.

QUOTE
Looks like we found our big feud for the first round. Fuck Goldberg. He always kind of hated the product, it was a cash grab for him, his undefeated streak was garbage, FAN CHANTING OVER THE LOUDSPEAKERS and frankly, he wasn't all that great in the ring. If we're gunna knock owen for being mocked by a skinny twerp, again gillberg. Tell me you didn't laugh when he came out hitting his hands to canned fan chants and damned sparklers. I'd give you this one against a select few on the list, but Vader? No way.

Yeah the streak turned into crap the longer it went on. But what has Vader done? Most of his success is in Japan.

As for Kane....I just hate how they have him as a funny character now but try and bill him as a "monster" who should be feared when they see fit. His unmasking was the worst thing they could've done.

Oh and the Bushwhackers? PUH-LEASE. If we had The Headbangers instead against MDM they'd get my vote.

Where did you stand with fandango by the way? I'm really happy he drew big show in the first round as I've never been a huge fan.

Also, my dad and I happened to be at the mall and he was there for a signing, we didn't even know he'd be there. He starts walking by after the signing, shaking people's hands and stuff. I put my hand out and he snubbed me.

Screw him, my vote is fandango.

Yeah I went Fandango. The only time I liked Big Show/The Giant/Paul Wight was here:

Memorable promo by Rock.

So, that leaves us with vader/Goldberg. Jake/michaels.

I just hated everything Goldberg represented. Not to mention that weak sauce exit at mania with him and Brock leaving. Blech. I don't even really love vader, I just really don't like Goldberg.

Jake and Michaels is really tough, it's two powerhouses. Leaving out of the ring personal issues out of it, jake the snake was always larger than life for me. On the other side of the token I really really hated the heartbreak hotel segments. To be fair I hate that whole talk show gimmick with the exception being pipers pit.

But there was DX. It's like my 80s self vs my high school self.

Alright, even though jake is leading in fan voting, I'll go michaels, DX being the tipping point. That being said, Goldberg and his manufactured undeserved streak have t go.

Fine. Let's wait until we hear from some of the other WWE fans before moving to the next round.

I Don't Like: Lundqvist falling on his head

#1 John Cena vs. #60 Val Venis
Val Venis. Never a fan of Cena, and Venis was always good for a few laughs. The whole choppy choppy thing while outrageous is still a great moment in my mind.

#2 Legion of Doom vs. #59 Dudley Boyz
Dudley Boyz. LOD were great, but I've seen the Dudleys in ther ECW prime and the heat they got was atomic.

#3 Ultimate Warrior vs. #58 Raven
Raven. More often than not I'm gonna vote for the ECW guys. It was close, but the Raven-Dreamer feud was just legendary

#4 The Mountie vs. #57 Iron Sheik
Iron Sheik. No explanation needed

#5 Randy Savage vs. #56 Hulk/Hollywood Hogan
Macho Man. Gotta go with Macho Madness. I always felt he was #2 to Hogan, but was a much better character and performer. He has a more classic feel as opposed to Hogan who sells out at every opportunity.

#6 British Bulldog vs. #55 Goldust
Goldust. I always liked the Bulldog, but Goldust had that edge the company needed at the time and the stutter stuff is comedy gold.

#7 Roddy Piper vs. #54 Bam Bam Bigelow
Roddy Piper. Never really a fan of Bam Bam and Piper is a classic

#8 Gobbledy Gooker vs. #53 The Hurricane
Hurricane. Hurricane in my opinion has always been underrated.

#9 Edge vs. #52 Undertaker
Undertaker. Tough one for Edge, Undertaker has always been my favorite guy.

#10 New Age Outlaws vs. #51 Ric Flair
Oh You Didn't Know? I dont Wooooo nearly as often as I go along with the NAO shtick.

#11 Chris Jericho vs. #50 Doink the Clown
Jericho. One of the best performers the company has had, and continues to be so.

#12 Jeff Jarrett vs. #49 Sting
Sting. Pretty much the reason I watched WCW as a kid. I wanted to see him go over the NWO. Pretty sure that's the only reason I bought Starcade the year he fought Hogan

#13 APA vs. #48 Kevin Nash/Diesel
Nash/Diesel. I couldnt stand JBL once he became the businessman, and Nash is just a legend.

#14 Kurt Angle vs. #47 HHH
HHH. It's really a shame Angle wasn't paired off against nearly anyone else. I hated him for the longest time, but I've grown to appreciate his work. Definitely goes to Hunter, all the DX stuff was just awesome.

#15 Al Snow vs. #46 The Rock
Head! Bit of a shocker on this one, I've always been an Al Snow fan. The stuff he did in ECW was pretty cool. He probably could've been used a bit more in the WWF. There's a bunch of stuff The Rock's done that's been pretty mediocre.

#16 Yokozuna vs. #45 Big Boss Man
Yokozuna. Never that big of a fan of the Boss Man.

#17 Mankind vs. #44 Scott Steiner
Mankind. I dont think there's ever been an entrance theme that's made me as uneasy. Same goes for the boiler room promos.

#18 Jake Roberts vs. #43 Shawn Michaels
Heart Break. The Snake was cool, but there's a reason Michaels is called the Showstopper.

#19 Eddie Guerrero vs. #42 Owen Hart
Owen Hart. I never liked Guerrero. I didn't get the hype about him, thought he was somewhat boring, and hated his characters. Hart was probably the first heel I liked despite him being a heel.

#20 Curt Henning vs. #41 Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Hacksaw. 'Merica, hoooooooooooooooooo!

#21 Big Show vs. #40 Fandango
Almost! I feel the same way about Show as I do about Guerrero.

#22 Lex Luger vs. #39 Hardy Boyz
Hardy Boyz. TLC

#23 Rey Mysterio vs. #38 Bret Hart
Bret Hart. Don't like Mysterio, Hart is the only guy that I wish would've stuck around. Best there is, best there was, and the best there ever will be.

#24 Million Dollar Man vs. #37 Bushwhackers
BW My buddy and I were totally into the Bushwhackers. Neither of us can explain why...

#25 Rob Van Dam vs. #36 Scott Hall/Razor Ramon
RVD. Razor is a legend, but RVD is right behind Undertaker in my book. He was one of the guys that made ECW what it was. I have many fond memories going to those shows just to see him fight.

#26 Stone Cold vs. #35 Mr. McMahon
Stone Cold. Probably one of the best feuds of all time, but McMahon doesn't stand a chance

#27 CM Punk vs. #34 Terry Funk
Punk. I've seen Funk in some ridiculous matches, but I feel like Punk tries to push the limit of what's acceptable as much as he can. His impact on what would otherwise be a completely stale product gives him the edge.

#28 Vader vs. #33 Goldberg
You're next. Not gonna lie, I was on the Goldberg bandwagon for a while.

#29 IRS vs. #32 Rick Rude
Rick Rude. Not much to say here really, just a personal preference

#30 Kane vs. #31 Earthquake
Kane. The big red machine by leaps and bounds.
