We're sure the Robin as bride is a misdirection? How? Robin and Barney are having seperate weddings at the same location or are they splicing two different memories?

No, teds storyline is the misdirection...Sorry my original post was confusing. I saw the final moment coming and teds storyline is yet another misdirection.

Ah ok, yeah I agree with that.

Wait so you think that Barney and Robin are getting married but Ted's story is supposed to create confusion over that? Or is Ted's story misdirecting the fact that its not the same wedding?

EDIT: I'm just confused by what you meant by your comment SATS.

That Ted and Victoria is misdirection. We know she's not the one.

Ok yeah. That makes a lot of sense.

DVR fucked up. Got the first and third Community but not the second. Have to wait until it's online to watch the 2nd and 3rd episodes. Furious.

That worked out well. The 1st and 3rd were good, the middle one not so much.

yeah but I wont watch the third without the second.

Anyway, the first, amazing. There was a ton of little easter eggs in there but the fact that the opening theme was very mega man, along with Jeff jumping like Mega Man was amazing, for this nerd at least.

So I just read that while Community was picked up for next season Dan Harmon's contract was up with no talks as of yet to renew it? With everyone saying that last night felt like it could've been a finale, if he's not coming back it should be.

edit: oof, the more I'm reading, the more it sounds like he won't be back in the same capacity moving forward and would "consult" more than be involved. I hope they settle it.

Dan Harmon is up in the air. What makes it worse is that his two co-runners are DEFINITELY leaving, so if he does end up not signing back on, it'll be a completely different show, on Friday Nights. After Whitney.

Harmon out, and it typical Harmon fashion, THERE'S DRAMA!!!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/19/com...d-as-showrunner

Like I said earlier, two of his other show runners are gone as well.

Harmon is being replaced by two writers from Just shoot me and aliens in America.

Friday nights after Whitney.

#3seasonsandafuneral

Edit: what's worse, we can't blame NBC, from everything I'm reading this is all Sony. They want the show to appeal to a bigger audience and get better ratings on NBC. Sony has been wanting this change from the top, so it's a very fair assumption to believe community won't feel very much like community next year.

You can always view Thursday night as the big send off. If I had to take a stab in the dark, the show is going to feel more like the first few episodes of the first season. It was a normal show with some weird tendencies, as opposed to a weird show with some normal tendencies.

I'm kind of torn on that because as much as I hate to admit it, Harmon was out of control sometimes, LOL, in a good way,but still. I always think back to the fooseball moment that went to anime for literally no reason. There was no context, there was no point, and there was no build up to make that a payoff that made sense. It was "let's do this in anime cause it'll be different". Don't get me wrong, I laughed and liked it, but it was just lobbed out there.

The very first episode of community was a send up to the breakfast club and it was obvious and subtle all at the same time. So imagine the characters being more established and having better personalities and a show that more like that. It's not the end of the world...I guess...

And just to wrap up my little tirade, the fact that Sony did this and not NBC gives me th idea that people at Sony weren't happy with his little "fuck you Chevy!!"chant at the wrap up. You don't act that way on a show that doesn't have great ratings and keep your job. Supposedly many people on the set were uncomfortable, and than Sony doesn't even talk to Harmon about coming back, at all??? I could be wrong, but it all seems to coincidental.

Could it potentially end up like Scrubs where another network picks up the show?

The way I see it, they have put themselves in a catch-22 situation. With Harmon et al out, the show will undoubtedly be different. If it fails, another network probably wouldn't want to pick it up. If it succeeds, it succeeds as an effectively different show.

I fear the Community we have known is dead. And I am very happy with the way it went out. That final montage was masterfully done and left me with a great feeling.

Doubtful.
Sony knew it was being given 13 episodes to either show life or die. They figured Dan Harmon had already done 60 or so episodes and, while it was a critically acclaimed show, it was going to be killed off in 13 seasons.

So this is their hail mary - they hired two guys they hope are quirky enough to retain the original audience yet normal enough to draw in a new audience.

I doubt it will work, and I think they know it won't work, but partially for different reasons - I don't think they're fully aware that Community is a show adored by internet people, and those internet people all know Dan Harmon. This is the first show I can think of in which the show runner is loved as much as any actor.

Agree to disagree. I don't doubt chevy is an asshole but I also don't think they liked the creator of a show chanting explitives at an actor in front of his family. I doubted his keeping his job then, but just thought the show would be cancelled instead of him let go.

Sony was successful, thwy got it another season to go to syndication, I don't think they cared of it caught on at that point.firing him without even talking to him? At all according to harmon? That wreaks of bad blood, not new directions

So, I know many of you hate it, but the last couple of years of SNL have been my favorite. Kristen Wiig leaving really wasn't a surprise, and I had a feeling about Sudekis with the rumors (I think SNL is trying to keep him for the elections) but I had no clue about Samberg at all. He's probably my favorite cast member and the Digital Shorts helped make SNL relevant again. When the short was Lazy Sunday 2 and they ended the rap saying its how it began and how its ending I was pretty bummed.

They still have some really funny cast members on, sme of which will get more air time now with possibly three members leaving, but this is the first really big shift in the show in almost 10 years.

Edit: Wiig and samberg both got send offs but Sudekis didn't. That's why I'm convinced SNL is going for the hard push to keep him as Romney for next season in some capacity. He was a mess during Wiigs send off though so who knows.

She was by far the most talented member left, I think. Bill Hader is pretty good, but after that it's rough. Not that they all don't have their moments, but they aren't the types who are funny regardless of the sketch, like Heder and Wiig (and Ferrell and Hartman and Farley and Belushi and etc.) are. That show is going to be tough next year if they don't find some great replacements.

Indeed it does, aside from how annoying John's high-pitched screams are.

A fun tidbit about that film is that there are numerous inconsistencies in that film regarding SFX. Once you realize where they are, they can never been unseen sad01_anim.gif

Eh, Hader and Armisen are givens, and I like Seth on the weekend update. If Sudekis does stay to do Romney I think they have enough big talent to carry a very funny bobby Moynihan, Taran and Kenan. I also like Abby Elliot and Nasim who might shine with ore to do with Wiig gone. One of the people I'm not big on is Jay Pharoah. Apparently he has a huge following but all he does is Denzel and Will Smith on the show, has anyone here seen him live that could tell me that SNL is under utilizing him?

Anyway, What will be really interesting is if Jon Hamm keeps popping up (him and Wiig are good friends and I think it's part of the reason hes always there) what they do to replace the digital shorts that basically reinvigorated the show, and this is basically the end of the Justin timberlake era, unless they finally give him some new skits since all the performers are gone that all his famous ones are with, excluding "bring it on down..."

Edit: Pharoah does jay z too

Kristen Wiig's characters were all the same: weird. I, for one, won't miss her.

This is really not related at all, but when the time comes for some of these actors playing Marvel superheroes to move on because of age or what have you, I've read that instead of rebooting the franchises or doing remakes or starting over, they are considering the Bond formula of just continuing and dropping in new actors.

Good. That is a downside to reboots is they end up wanting/needing to do the origin story over, and that's not always interesting. I'm pro-reboot on the whole, but I think if they want to go forward with the Avengers, they just can't reboot for every new actor when there's likely to be so much turnover in the cast. I think how they just dropped Ruffalo in for the Hulk is a good sign, though.

A reboot is only needed if you completely change tone, but yeah, how many can we have?
I've got zero interest in seeing this new Spiderman movie. I know how Spiderman becomes Spiderman, and I'm not at all convinced that the Raimi adaptation needed to be redone or can be redone better (though getting rid of whatshername the Pumpkin Head is a good start!)

I don't know that it needed to be redone, but I can't blame the studio from wanting to 100% distance itself from the shit show that franchise became with the 3rd. Supposedly the new movie is a complete change in tone as well, but I guess we'll see.

I'm not really looking forward to it much either.

I think they want to change the tone and make Spiderman darker and more realistic with the reboot. There is actually blood in the trailer, which is a good sign. In all three of the previous Spiderman movies, he would get his ass kicked and the end-result would be a few tears in his suit-- bullshit. I'm not saying that it should be a gorefest because after all these are meant to be family-friendly movies, but a humongous pet peeve of mine in movies is when characters have no bruises, scrapes, cuts, or blood to show after fighting.

That said, it is possible to do a reboot without redoing the origin story. Everyone knows spider-man's origin story already, so I think it's a waste of time doing it again so soon. Also, I think it's funny that both origin stories feature a scientist performing a dangerous experiment on himself and becoming a mutated green psycho.

The other thing to remember about the new Spiderman is that it is an exercise in retaining their rights to the franchise. I think they have to crank out a new movie once every five years or the rights default back to Marvel.

Well on the bright side, it couldn't possible be any worse than the 3rd Raimi movie. God, what a clusterfuck.

On the one hand, the last one was super disappointing, despite a great trailer. On the other hand, I really, really like Craig as Bond and this one has Sam Mendes directing and Rodger Deakins doing cinematography!

The History Channel will be airing a 3 part film on the Hadfields and McCoys . Kevin Costner is the head of the Hadfiled clan and Bill Paxton the McCoys. Looks really good.It will air Memorial Day.

I didn't like QoS as much as Casino Royale but I think Casino Royale set the bar so high that no subsequent movie could match it. That said, after several repeated viewings, I've come around and like it for what it is - an epilogue to Casino Royale. You probably could make a case for combining the two movies and editing them down to one 3-3.5 hour movie.

I don't think I've actually seen any of the Craig Bond movies. My wife hates the idea of him as James Bond and refuses to watch them. I think I saw part of Quantum of Solace maybe.

I was disappointed. I wouldn't say it sucked, but it had little reason to rewatch. Casino Royale has some pacing issues and some dead zones, but it works so well because it builds Bond up as a wounded badass. A sequel should be able to build upon that without slowing down as often (less backstory) and hopefully without the dead spots I felt Casino Royale had.

Hopefully this one will. Daniel Craig is too awesome a Bond to not have more awesome movies.

I shouldn't admit it, but Glee was a pretty good hour of television last night. For the first time watching that show it actually felt like high school.
