My grail came in today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the jersey for those who don't know what I'm talking about (not my jersey I don't have a camera)

There are a few thank you's that are in order

I'd like to thank myself for finding this jersey and being a Rangers fan
I'd like to thank Mike (bleedin-blue) for placing the bid for me and shipping the jersey down to Hotlanta. It took some effort on his part, and he's a real awesome guy.
I'd like to thank Gary Bettman for not being commissioner during the 1991-92 season so these awesome throwbacks could have been originally made possible
I'd like to thank the Rangers for being an original 6 team
I'd like to thank my body for being skinny enough to fit into a 44 somehow.
I'd like to thank my dad for making me a Rangers fan
I'd also like to thank jersey collecting because you are the greatest hobby ever!

how would you jersey guys feel about a "vintage" style rangers uniform as a third? i dont mean bringing back an actual jersey from the past, but creating a new one that looks like it could have existed in the 20's. maybe using more of a navy blue, with an off white/bone color instead of bright white. have the words "new york" diagonal just to further differentiate from the regular uniforms. classic style, with slight color changes.

muted navy blue jersey
two thicker arm stripes on the elbow in lieu of three. red on top of off white.
off white around the neck/collar with red backing the nhl crest.
two thicker stripes on the bottom hem of jersey in lieu of three. red on top of off white.
red pants
blue socks, two thicker stripes inlieu of three. red on top of white.

red would be deeper than the current red.

If the Rangers participate in the Winter Classic I want this jersey to be used:

Don't want it used as a third jersey though. Also, the TBTC jersey pretty much covers everything from the beginning up to this jersey. After '46 they used the font they pretty much use now.

I agree with Xcdude regarding that style for a Rangers Winter Classic (which I suspect will be sooner rather than later).

For a 3rd, I'd rather have something more like the Liberty style. I'd actually be okay with them bringing it back (white or navy). After how horrible some of the recent 3rds have been, I'd almost rather not have a 3rd.

I want to say bring back the white liberty, but then it takes away from its mystic imo. I really want one of those jerseys. You don't know how jealous I am of you aketon!

I do like the white liberty - I admit it took a while for me to come around. First, I don't like white 3rd jerseys in general. Secondly, it's the Blueshirts we're talking about, shouldn't their 3rd be a shade of blue?

I heard next year is Rangers Capitals at Yankee Stadium, but that was just on some CBC blog.

Edit: Here's the quote from CBCSports.ca

QUOTE
26. Reports are that the Capitals will play the Rangers at Yankee Stadium in next year’s outdoor game. That’s a make-good to Washington. The Caps were supposed to play at Fenway, but were yanked because of concerns their ratings would be too low.

I actually came here to post something about this, I picked a copy up in Penn Station tonight while waiting for my train home, and it's a really well put together collection. Quality pictures and a bunch of jerseys I'd never even seen before. Made the extra hour I had to wait go by in no time at all.

Those are great! I firmly believe they should use them as their 3rd jerseys. I hate the navy Liberty jerseys. This is the one I own (forgive me - it's only a CCM replica...sorry).

Here's a somewhat odd question:

A good buddy of mine is also a huge Ranger fan (who hopefully doesn't read this thread), he recently had a kid - middle name: "Avery" who is my buddies favorite Ranger. Anyhow, I wanted to look into getting a toddler jersey for x-mas with 16 on the back, but IceJerseys doesn't seem to let you customize toddler jerseys. Anyone know where I can get a customized toddler jersey, or am I going to have to do some sewing?

Thanks for any advice/tips.

To be honest, your best bet is to probably just find a really small infant jersey and have it screen printed on. Nobody is gonna be able to cut a kit that small and sewing it on will be really tough. I know eBay has the smaller ones usually so that'd be a good place to start.

Anyhow, I wanted to look into getting a toddler jersey for x-mas with 16 on the back, but IceJerseys doesn't seem to let you customize toddler jerseys. Anyone know where I can get a customized toddler jersey, or am I going to have to do some sewing?

To be honest, your best bet is to probably just find a really small infant jersey and have it screen printed on. Nobody is gonna be able to cut a kit that small and sewing it on will be really tough. I know eBay has the smaller ones usually so that'd be a good place to start.

Thanks for the advice. I noticed shop.nhl.com actually allows for customization of toddler sweaters. Though it's kinda expensive (like $60-70) IMO for something the kid will wear for maybe 1-2 years before he grows out of it.

Holy crap, $70 for a kids custom job? That's insane. Have you just tried getting like one of those Rangers onesie things? That might be better off for an infant.

I got this one yesterday too:

Scott Young wore this in the 1994-95 season. There's a shitload of wear on it too. Lots of repiars, board burns and a bunch of stick marks. I love them Nords jerseys and have one more on the way!

So, crazy question for you, BB - does a Cornell Moulson gamer exist, and how retarded pricey would it be? Hell, how much is a gamer in general, assuming we're not talking about a major star?

I'm sure there's one out there. If he wasn't propelled into stardom you could contact Moulson himself, but you could always ask Cornell if they have any extra game worns and you could strip it and customize it for Mr. Moulson if you are that desperate.

That's tough. Usually colleges are kind stingy with their stuff and don't often consign them to auction houses or anything like that. Your best bet would probably be to contact the athletics department at Cornell itself and inquire about any jerseys that they have, if any. I know many NHL teams and even the lower-tier teams will deal with private collectors but I don't know about colleges. It can't hurt to ask though I guess.

Holy crap - where did you find the picture in your signature? It's fucking glorious.

It was actually from a deadspin post about a week ago with some crazy fan art for sports teams. That was the first picture they showed, and I still can't get over how awesome it is.

Nah, I took the bus from NYC to Boston and after hauling ass from outside, I missed the train by about two minutes. It worked out though, I never would have seen that magazine if I made that train.

Quick question for the jersey collectors......do you keep all your jerseys in display cases and hang 'em up? Or just keep them put away? I have a few jerseys but only one authentic; a 2006 Lundqvist which I keep in a case and have never worn, hoping to get it autographed one day. My other ones ('97 white Gretzky and '94 blue Messier) are only replicas and I wear them occasionally. I also have a few jerseys with nothing on them (blue Liberty, white Liberty, vintage white, and a newer blue).

I just keep mine in my closet. Nothing really special enough to put up in a case - maybe my Mike Donnelly game worn Stars jersey from '95. laugh2.gif

see I dont have a problem with that, but the thing with my Henke jersey is that it's an authentic and it cost me a ton of money so I'm afraid to touch it, lol. But like I said, my other two I wear occasionally. If I got more I'd probably wear them as long as they weren't authentic or game-worn....I don't care much about replicas.

It's like a phobia I have with my Lundqvist one.....I just can't bring myself to do it.

part of the reason for casing it was to hang it up in the house, just cuz I think it looks kinda cool. I mean I can't bring myself to wear it, I guess it's an OCD thing. I wouldn't have a problem hanging it in a closet if I had to though.
