If it says "Kosher for Passover" on the box, you're OK. If not, steer clear. "Real" marshmallows, though, are not Kosher.

I hate the fact that the recently-divorced and incredibly adorable secretary at my office is reciprocating attention. She's younger than I(never really a problem) but is divorced and has kids. She's so damn cute though! What the hell do I do here? I have no experience with the 'separated' category. The whole inter-office thing really scares me too. Argh!

Depends how you feel about kids, really. Unless her husband was a dirty fucker who slept around and gave her a bunch of weird diseases, I don't really think the "separated" aspect means much other than she will probably be a little more reserved with you in the beginning.

But I'd stay away because of the inter-office thing. At best, if/when you break up, things are merely awkward. At worst, it's a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

My parents met at the office and they're coming up on their 50th wedding anniversary.

As for kids, the kid thing worked out fine for me so I'd judge it entirely on how you feel about her. I raised a son of my own and now my fiance and I are raising her daughter and it's great. Generally you don't get into that unless things are going well and, if things are going well, then you'll want to get to know her kids so it's a self-solving problem. (I.e., Don't put the cart in front of the horse. If you two are into each other, start there and the other stuff will sort itself.)

This begs a question. If you hate the fact she's reciprocating, then why did you start giving her attention in the first place ? Just sayin'.

I think your scenario has one issue. Back when your parents were working together things were different. Now, sexual harassment litigation and other HR issues make the employer compelled to part ways proactively with issues.

As for the issue of divorced thing should be no issue whatsoever. So many women are divorced. You just have to make sure she isn't psychotic. Sometimes, there is a reason they are divorced. Try to see that in her personality.

I would proceed VERY slowly and feel my way. Flirtation is commonplace in just about every office I have worked in.

Sometimes things just take care of themselves either way. No matter what happens next keep it on the under.

People who drive their car like they are drafting behind you when you are doing 85mph down an empty road. If I slow down, you get closer. If I speed up, you speed up.

Pass, change lanes, back the fuck off… Just do something that enables you not to be on my ass.

Does your car have a sunroof? Keep a cup of pennies or roofing nails in your console for such occasions!

Geez...and I felt guilty about my cat solution! laugh2.gif

I would just put on the flashers and slow down....I ALWAYS let the asshole go in front of me. This way THEY get pulled over instead of me. And yeah....it does happen.

A guy I know tried to rally a whole bunch of us to go to dinner on Saturday. No one was interested, but he pleaded, saying he had a $40 living social deal that he had to use. Two of us agreed to go on Sunday instead. He made my friend pick him up.

He proceeded to order $40 of food for himself, at a place that had $12-$14 dishes.

I just saw this as bad form. If you tell people you want to go to this place in particular because you have a groupon deal for that amount, don't you typically share? In my experience when someone has something like this they use it for everyone. Maybe I'm being presumptuous, but if you don't want to use your deal for people you don't invite them when you use it (unless it's a deal that clearly only covers one person, in which case it's acceptable.) I mean, hell, he ordered a huge side of fries, and when the girl he made drive reached for one he pulled them away from her, claiming they were all for him and that it was his coupon we were using so we should respect that, which the two of us thought meant he was saying he was being generous with the coupon and didn't need to be with the fries (of which he at 4 and took the rest to go.)

He's a roommate of a friend and works at the same company as most of my friends, so he's not a friend but an acquaintance that shows up from time to time. I've made my lack of interest in hanging out with him regularly fairly well known, with the tipping point for me being the time my friend and I wanted to go to this chinese place we like and decided to open the invite up to a few other people. His roommate asked if she could invite him and I said sure. She calls me two minutes later to say he did not like the place we'd picked (and had been talking about going to for a week) and made reservations for us at PF Changs.

He made me go from a solid authentic place to a sodium-saturated chain?

Dead to me.

I went so that I could be a jerk about it. I've turned it into a large running joke with the entire group, one he finds not very funny but he's never invited to anything without being forced to promise not to change it. I get a kind of satisfaction from that. An evil, long-running satisfaction that has lasted far longer than the joy of eating at that restaurant over PF Changs.

As a bit of background, none of us are from Cincinnati and we all moved here the same time and all have similar backgrounds. Most of my friends work at the same company, those that don't went to school with me. We're kind of several small groups that occasionally morph into a bigger group, like Voltron but with slightly fewer intergalactic monstrosities. He's not really part of any of the smaller groups, just linked to us by working in the right company and having a roommate I'm very close with, but she's moving out next month. But now pretty much anyone connected to him in any social way has this running joke about him and trying to change existing plans.

Beam, I dig how you were able to turn his dickishness on the PFChang's adventure into a positive (well, positively evil muwhahahahaaa!) source of entertainment. But holy shit, first dude offers up this coupon, then hitches a ride and then deflects an attempted Idaho tax by the driver!? shock.gif Idaho taxation is a tiny fee to pay for a ride, fer fak's sake. That merfer would have been left to walk his silly ass home, had it been me in charge of the keys. You guys showed tremendous restraint that night.

My friend is actually annoyed at me for not stepping in, but she's come to realize that I kind of like watching this dude's antics as they occur and calling him out on it later and to a larger audience.

He's a very nerdy dude that's nearly engaged. He's convinced that he's the ultimate ladies' man, though, and that if he were single he'd have the entire city wrapped around his little finger, which also amuses us endlessly, especially as he rarely goes out beyond dinner because he does not drink.

Idaho taxation is a fantastic term and will be used in the future!

Relevant!: When To Dump Food Loser Friends

"Don’t you hate it when some happy idiot in your group suggests dinner at a hideous, expensive restaurant? And everyone else chimes in to excitedly agree? What do you do? Stay home and play Words With Friends, or suck it up and endure a foul, and possibly overpriced, dinner? My friends should be paying me to eat here, you think as you dejectedly throw your debit card into the pile."

Speaking of which, my brother and his wife will no longer play Scramble with me. His last message to me on the subject was "Fuck. You." Scramble is tearing our family apart!

Even more ridiculous is that I don't have a smart phone so I was constantly having to steal Hilary's phone from her to play.

I'm totally known as the food snob of the group. And proud of it. I'm not the debbie-downer my dad was about it, but people know I prefer the top restaurants and despise the chains and places that are obviously cheap for a reason.

I would condense that to

More <adjective> is always better = snob
More <adjective> is usually better = snooty but smart about it

Also, context matters.

"Oh man, I really enjoyed my steak at Chain Steakery last night."
"Pfft, overpriced and unauthentic food."
= douche

"Hey, what's good to eat?"
"I really appreciate reasonably priced, authentic cultural food like Local World Country Eatery."
= cool
