Wow. What's the story there? Geez. Puck Daddy's piece on the Pahlsson acquisition implied that Pahlsson might bump Hodgson to wing; perhaps the plan was actually "replace Hodgson with Pahlsson" and they wanted to make Hodgson into a new asset altogether. But this guy is one of the top rookies this year. Strange to move him for a prospect who (while highly touted) isn't performing nearly as well. Strange. -------------------- Maybe I get what you're saying, not that your argument is coherent in the least. - Brian Leeds

So biased on TSN saying it benefits the Canucks. Kassian may be very good in the long-run as a power forward, but Hodgson is like an established NHL center that can thrive big time.
Gragani can be the steal of the deal as he can be a slick offensive d-man, but also a disastrous player on D. Sulzer is a throw in, he is not NHL caliber. I love this trade for Buffalo more than for Vancouver. -------------------- ![]() |

Hey, whatever. Glen didn't blow up the team. Now let's get Dubi going and score some fucking goals and win with the goddamn team that's gone this far. And get Kreider the fuck outta Boston. I will admit. I was slightly disappointed when Portzline tweeted it didnt get done. For about 2 minutes. I dont think I wanna know what was in that "mammoth package" Dreger said the Rangers came in with. |

The only reason I'm not pissed with Sather is that NOTHING happened today that I feel the Rangers "missed out on". I'm very concerned about the lack of depth beyond the 12 forwards, AND the fact that Boyle, Prust, Rupp, Mitchell, Fedotenko, and/or Bickel will be part of this playoff run, though.
VERY heavy reliance on top two lines to provide offense which has not come easy. As Tortorella believed, they are NOT ready this year. Add Kreider and Parise in the offseason? Then maybe. -------------------- Maybe I get what you're saying, not that your argument is coherent in the least. - Brian Leeds

Wait, Rolston has 4 goals and 5 assists in 49 games. Sounds like an out-of-gas dude to me. So the Bruins traded for a questionable winger and two whatever defensemen (Mottau played for the first time since Dec. 29th last night, Zanon is a -1 with 6 points in 39 games this season). Not exactly huge moves. Yeah, warm bodies, maybe a little upside, but I don't know that I'm thinking the acquisitions change anything.
Edit: I get just wanting a body on the roster to back these guys up, but it seems like the ask for anything of value was just too high. This post has been edited by Kusand: Feb 27 2012, 03:56 PM -------------------- |

Would like the core of the team to get a solid playoff run under their belt. Most teams must go through this before winning it. Pittsburgh comes to mind. |

I'm disappointed, but only because we moved Christiansen and Wolski to clear cap space. That cap space will be completely useless now, and I do think that having both players as spare parts for injury replacements would have been better than not having them around.

Was really hoping to get someone to play on the second line. But I guess a guy who has no real hockey skill and can beat the crap out of people is cool. Seems to me like no one was available for a good price. When the asking price for Paul Gaustad, he of seven goals on the season, is a first round pick, you know the buyer's market is pretty awful.

Why the heck would you want to revisit Nash in the offseason when you can go all in for Parise? How have former Devils done as Rangers? Yes, being a former Devil means you will automatically suck as a Ranger. The fact that you'd rather give up good, young players rather than take a run at signing a guy for similar money and no roster players lost? I'm glad you aren't running the Rangers. |

That cap space will be completely useless now, and I do think that having both players as spare parts for injury replacements would have been better than not having them around. This is honestly a problem. As much as many are praising Sather for not making a big move that gutted our youngsters, it's pretty clear he had a move he wanted to make (or moves), and ended up swinging and missing. Now instead of having two NHL forwards sitting in our press box that could play if an injury occurred, we have zero. At this point, what are our options? Kris Newbury? A return of Hobbit? I don't want to say I "miss" Christensen, but it seems like a waste of time trading him with no one to replace him. Btw, Howson on TSN -------------------- |

If they call up Kreider for the last 20 games and playoffs it'll count as a complete season? I'm genuinely confused at this point with Kreider. First, I see stuff like this that he'd come up at the end of the season. Then I read other posts that he's not going to be in the NHL for the next 2-3 years. Now he's going to come and be on our team this season again? Isn't BC still playing until at least March 3rd? Even if they lost in their conference tourney, are we really saying Kreider is so amazing he can leave the Eagles, come to the Rangers and in less than a week start playing in the NHL and contribute? I really feel the expectations some of you are placing on this guy are putting him in a position to fail. Yes, reports are he sounds good, but I haven't heard of anyone saying he's going to be a bona fide NHL superstar either. I'm disappointed, but only because we moved Christiansen and Wolski to clear cap space. That cap space will be completely useless now, and I do think that having both players as spare parts for injury replacements would have been better than not having them around. Btw, Howson on TSN You could bring anyone up from the AHL and they'll be providing what Christensen or Wolski would have provided. Zucc would do just as much if not more than either of those players would have with the limited time that Torts would have given them. That argument really doesn't make any sense. -------------------- Prez: Oh. Nothing there. It's so tiny. No mere mortal can...ohhhh. You see what he just did? What? He did it again! Who is this man? Where does he come from? Can anybody stop him? Please don't hurt us, please. My eyes! My eyes! It's so big, and clear, and bright.

As Tortorella believed, they are NOT ready this year. If you're referring to his recent comments, that is not what he said. At all. He said essentially that he didn't want his team looking ahead and, as far as he's concerned, they are no better than their opponent on any given night. Listen, I don't want to see more Stu Bickel either, and I don't dispute that they could have used a move or two today. But this "twelve forwards" stuff is overblown. It's all about icetime. The void of John Mitchell is covering about five minutes of icetime. If someone on the front six is hurt, they're in trouble anyway (unless we're still going with the "cog" argument). Richards, Gaborik, Callahan, Stepan, Anisimov, Fedotenko, Hagelin, Boyle, Prust, Dubinsky, Rupp, and Mitchell are probably okay. It's not needing new guys to me, guys just need to play better. Richards and Dubinsky can clearly be more productive, and Stepan and Anisimov have struggled at points. Fedotenko (and maybe even Boyle) is a regular-season dogs that plays well in the postseason. Staal can play better. There was crap in the water today, they went for the big fish and missed. Move on, play better, beat the Devils tonight. -------------------- Batman uses women for sex and tactical advantages.

Let's all be honest here--
How many of you actually believe this team is a Stanley Cup contender this year? They're close, but they aren't there yet. Even assuming that everyone stays healthy (a fairly large assumption given the grueling nature of the playoffs), we are still going to be relying extremely heavily on Lundqvist to be perfect. Take a look at this season-- they have won consistently, but how many of those Ws were because the Rangers thoroughly dominated their opponents? Now, how many were because Henrik (and the people in front of him) were even more stellar than usual? See what I'm getting at? The defense and Henrik have been absolutely lights-out, and that has masked our offensive woes up until now. But as teams start playing harder and taking less risks, the offensive woes will become more and more apparent. In order to go deep, we're going to end up falling back into the same old "hang on for dear life and pray that Henrik can bail us out" pattern that was so stressful to endure in past seasons. And in the end, that strategy will ultimately fall short because a goalie can only keep that up for so long because it exhausts him and cracks appear in his armor. -------------------- |

Larry says last offer was Dubinsky, Erixon, Miller, Thomas, and this year's 1st.

CBJ wanted Mcdonagh/MDZ, Stepan/Hagelin, Kreider, Dubinsky, and the pick.
Yeah, good luck with that. For a 60 point guy with an oppressive contract? -------------------- Maybe I get what you're saying, not that your argument is coherent in the least. - Brian Leeds

That's really unbelievable how horribly they did this. The Blue Jackets were the ones that said they were open to dealing him!!!!!
Now you have the guy saying trade me, and they don't pull the plug on it? How any of these people (including Patrick) have a job right now is beyond me. They didn't need to do ANY of this. They could have gutted the team and started anew. There are zero reports saying Nash wanted out of this situation. And now he's publicly saying that they didn't grant his trade request? Wow. Just wow. -------------------- |

Mostly agree. -------------------- ![]() |

Howson says Nash approached team and asked to be traded. Oh boy. They fucked him hard. Good. I ask again, what has Rick Nash ever done in Columbus that gives him the balls to make this demand? Shane Doan should show up on his doorstep and club him with an Easton. -------------------- Batman uses women for sex and tactical advantages.

Honestly, McDonagh, Stepan, Kreider, Dubinsky, and a 1st rounder should get you Malkin or Ovechkin. Not fucking Rick Nash.

Shane Doan should show up on his doorstep and club him with an Easton. How about the fact it was Columbus that started the whole process to begin with?! I know you don't like Nash, but now you're getting a little ridiculous. The Jackets were the team that said they'd be open to trading him which started all of this. After 3 weeks of uncertainty, Nash says he wants to be traded. You even said you liked that move. Now, you're on him for demanding it. Seriously, this is bi-polarish This post has been edited by jkman61494: Feb 27 2012, 04:35 PM -------------------- |
