Callahan and Del Zotto are out again.

Tortorella says he's not sure who is starting in net tonight. Odd (for him).

Torts isn't sure which goalie is in nets tonight. Apparently Crosby's only playing 15 minutes and Letang might play, too.

i am getting a bit concerned with these two when they're not playing in a game like this. I know, I know. We want them fresh for the playoffs. But as much as I am a "team negative" guy, a win tonight would have essentially put this race to rest, gaining 6 points in their past 3 games with going up 8 points with 13 games to go.

I know it's diagnosed as a bruised foot, but was the shot Cally took anywhere close to where his his ankle was broken last year?

Per NYR: Lundqvist, coming back from flu: "Especially with how well Marty is playing, it makes sense that he is in there tonight"

Per Gross: Lundqvist says laying in bed past two days doing nothing not conducive to conditioning. Wants to give it another day.

I'm thinkin there's more to Cally's injury than they're letting on.

There has been guys who skated on a broken foot before-- he wouldn't miss this many games for a simple "bruised" ankle.

This is why I'm wondering if it's somehow connected to the ankle that got broken last year? Honestly, I'm not sure as it could be his other foot now for all I know. But it would make some sense that a shot that didn't even seem that hard could be forcing him to miss so much time.

MDZ's seems more understandable. That just seemed like a NASTY shot directly to the hip bone.

Every eye in the hockey world is on this game tonight. The NHL Network is treating it like the SC Finals, they're barely even talking about the other 29 teams.

29 other teams? Yeah, they're barely talking about the Rangers as well. Of course, when Crosby comes back, that's a given. But really, the Rangers are almost an afterthought in all of this, the team who set themselves up for the classic fall once the champs got their groove back.

I know the Rangers have some injuries, but let's see what they're made of tonight.

This treatment is exactly why I loathe Pittsburgh so much-- the League treats them like they're the only team that matters. Whoever said "pet team" was dead on the money.

Anyway, this will indeed show what kind of guts the team has. It will be a difficult game, probably the most difficult of the season so they've got to remain disciplined if they want to have a chance. With Biron in net and DZ out, going short-handed against the Crosby-infused Penguins is like playing Russian roulette.

Dude. Give it the fuck up. Best player in the world is coming back. What do you want them to do? Not make a big deal about it? When Jordan came back, it was a big fucking deal. Same here.

The Rangers even have more nationally televised games than Pittsburgh this year.

No, I get the coverage and that's fine. What bothers me is that the media has pretty much assumed that it's going to be an easy victory for the Pens.

Is that really a horrible assumption? They have the best player in the league right now. The best player in the world. They're getting back their top defenseman. They're playing their number one goalie. They've won 9 straight.

We're missing our number one goalie. We're missing our captain. We're missing one of our top-4 defenseman. We've lost (rather decisively) the last 2 (or is it 3?) games we've played against them even though we had all the people who are missing in this game, and they did not have the best player in the world.

Explain to me what's so unbelievable that the media would be thinking the Pens would win tonight?

AND, our own gm just said that they're the best team in the league right now.

I mean really, is it outlandish for the media to say that they're the favorite to win tonight?

The only thing I will say on KOD's behalf is this. We've routinely been a great team this year but we've been always overshadowed, and I can understand some getting tired of it. Before it was the Bruins and their streak. Then the Flyers were a team people talked about more with 24/7 because they had better soundbytes. Now it's the Pens, etc etc.

It's understandable why the Pens are the talk of the town now. Just saying, I think the frustration is something that's accumulating, hopefully within the locker room as well.

WHY ISNT RYAN CALLAHAN PLAYING THROUGH A SEVERELY BRUISED FOOT!? WHY ISNT DEL ZOTTO PLAYING ON ONE HIP!? FUCK LUNDQVIST FOR NOT PLAYING WHEN HE HAS THE FLU!

Jesus.

I'm fine with Callahan not playing tonight. He rushed back already and looked like garbage. Same with Del Zotto. Tonight isnt a must win game. We would still be up by 4 points with 12 games left if we lose(which we wont). Let them heal for the real must win games.

Rangers looked like a Bantam 'B' team when they matched up against the Pens last time. Considering the missing personnel, I will be happy with a competitive game.

The Avs won a cup with Forsberg - at the tippitey top of his game - out and Pittsburgh has been amazing without Crosby, so if the Rangers can't suck it up and win a big game when they have to - and you're kidding yourselves if you don't think the Rangers feel this is a BIG game - then the likelihood of this team tasting Stanley Pie looks slim this year.

Rangers looked like a Bantam 'B' team when they matched up against the Pens last time. Considering the missing personnel, I will be happy with a competitive game.

Jeez that's just one game. They've been right with them the past couple of years winning and if not at least competitive.

Rangers have stepped up for all these big games this year and they have been very good at home. I expect more of the same tonight.

The prior game was also not at all competitive. The past couple of years are completely meaningless.

You didn't follow the correct format.

So only the last two games this year are relevant and not the prior two where they BEAT the Penguins? OK then rolleyes.gif

First of all, I never claimed that the last two games were the only ones that were relevant, but with the number of roster changes over the years basing how the Rangers will do tonight based on what they have done over 'the last couple of years' is a little silly.

Roll your eyes all you want, but logic is on my side, pollyanna-ism is on yours.

That said, anything could happen and logic doesn't have to have anything to do with what goes down on the ice tonight, which I am hoping is a major league b1*#%-slapping with the Rangers doing the slapping.

Missing three of their best players tonight, this seems like a nice proposition for the Rangers. Win, and it's one of the biggest, most gritty, heartfelt wins on the year. Lose, and you fall back on having a depleted squad. I really hope the latter isn't the path everyone takes because this team is *certainly* capable of getting it done tonight.

Here's the question though: with Biron in net, do you play conservative and help him as much as possible, or do you come out guns firing and try to get an early lead to build on while risking conceding a lead early on? I say the top line needs to come guns ablaze tonight, and try and catch the Pens early on.
