7 shots on goal, guys. I'm not going to defend the power play (although it hasn't been absolutely terrible tonight), but 7 shots on goal. Spezza's line has one the entire game. Both goals against were totally stoppable by Biron (second one is less on Biron, since it was a nice play by Foligno).
On the road, against a pretty good Senators team, and having given up 7 shots on goal: I don't think they've been that bad tonight. Still a period left to play, and they've gotten stopped a few times by Bishop. I suspect if we can keep them from getting a third goal, when Torts shortens the bench midway/late in the third, that tying goal is going to come. And even if he doesn't shorten the bench and this ends 2-1, they've got a seven game homestand (one against the Penguins, which is HUGE) to wrap up the conference. No need to panic yet, folks. |

Furthermore, ranger fans breakdown to either Yankee and giants fans, who think anything short of perfection is unacceptable. Like leedsy, kovalchuck and Nash suck because their teams never win anything.
Then there's met/jet fans who think there's always some team out there better than them, making better moves or just waiting for the other shoe to drop because, well, they are mets and jets fans. Youre a mets and jets fan, correct rocha? |

I still think they have a nice long homestand to fix some of their issues and am currently not too worried, but I'm annoyed at the effort in this third period. Still, I think fixing the power play might be all they need to do to patch up their issues enough to take on any team in the conference again. That being said, I completely agree there are problems right now, and I get the frustration. I absolutely don't think people are wrong for being pessimistic. I just think it might *still* be a little early, seeing as they've tended to bounce back almost every time things got rough this season so far. |
