I never suggested the Rangers should go after Parenteau. Guy like that needs to play for a small franchise with no pressure that gives him a shot to play and a great center. ie. The New York Islanders.

The rangers put out the best offer IMO, Nash wants out and the blue jackets seem to want him out.

The Rangers offered one bona fide NHL player, having the worst season of his professional career, for an all-star in his prime. My criticisms aside, I can't fathom why Columbus would even consider that offer. How do you sell this move to season ticket holders?

I was laughed at when I said the Rangers should go after Parenteau, but I think he's really underrated. The question about him, (and any other free agent), is if he could buy into the Torts system. The guy's a very good playmaker and could make for a nice winger on this team.

Per the belief this will be boring, ESPN had an interesting stat. There were 31 trades in 2010. Last year just saw 16. With a lot of deals already been completed, I could see this approaching 10 today. With 24 teams I believe .500 or better, I don't see where the moves are going to be made.

Despite being pretty horrid, Edmonton looks like they're done selling, Columbus has sold almost all of their parts, and about everyone else in this league believe they're in the hunt.

One NHL exec told a TSN guy that this could be one of the busiest trade deadlines in years. I think your point could very well happen too, though.

I think Montreal will clean house. Carolina will trade some as well. Buffalo may sell some parts as well. Minnesota may sell a bit as well. Tampa Bay has some parts to sell. Washington may want to make some changes too.

I still don't understand why they would trade Nash unless he said he would like to be traded.

Seriously, is it just pure Islander bias here? Kyle Quincey got traded for a first round pick!

I don't think it's that irrational to say that you'd want a first round pick for a guy who is 6th in the NHL in assists and tied with Martin St. Louis for 17th in the NHL with 58 points. Not when you're seeing role players get traded for 2nd rounders.

Now, I'm not saying Edmonton should go give up their pick. But the Rangers? Nashville? St. Louis? Teams outside of the top ten in scoring with Cup aspirations? I don't think that's a steep price since everyone says the draft class is not good.

Naaa, Heater stays there. Setoguchi has been so-so for them so it would not surprise me if they move him for a center. Someone may take a shot at Bouchard.

I think the price is ludicrous too, but the Rangers' pick this year (if all *cough* goes to plan) will practically be a 2nd rounder anyhow.

Well... a 1st rounder that will most likely be 27th to 30th. Any team that will have a 20th or lower overall pick would laugh at that request.

Yeah, the offer as you lay it out looks crappy, when you don't include the fact that at least 1 blue chip prospect and a first round draft pick was in the offer also. So ya know, you can sell the season ticket holders on you rebuilding for the future.

I didn't say it was a great offer, I said it was the best offer out there. Once Nash's agent spoke up, I think the writing was pretty much on the wall that they want this done now.

I clicked on NHL Network. Said a guy named David Jones on the Avs was on the block. I've honestly never heard him but when looking at his stats, he's not half bad looking. 6'2, 210, 27 years old.

45 points in 77 games last year and 28 points in 53 this season. Also a very manageable cap hit of under $2.5 million.

Has anyone seen this guy play?

Yes and he is awesome for the role he offers, but definitely not a major need for the Rangers.

Downie was the upgrade on him, though, so he could be on the outs.

I really don't understand Nabakov.

The guy through an absolute hissy fit about getting traded to the Islanders. According to McKenzie, the Islanders are trying to offer him a new contract but you know what's holding it up? Discussions over a non-movement clause. dizzy.gif

Any news on what went back to MTL for Kostitsyn? Haven't see it yet,

In return for Kostitsyn, Preds deal 2nd rd pick in 2013 plus return the conditional pick they got in Hal GIll trade

Preds need offense, but remember, they're 10th in offense. Not bad. Rangers are 12th. What do they do?

The Predators are better offensively than the Rangers! Jesus. That's rough.

Nash practicing. So, nothing's going to happen i think.

Or, CBJ didn't want to tip their hand that they fully intend on trading him today, so you send him out in practice. It also helps give a "business as usual" vibe to the rest of the team.

The guy on TSN is saying that it is GM Howson's last chance to right the ship with a Nash trade. If he does not trade Nash this off-season, the latest, he could be done.

I think he should have been fired 30 games into the season.

You said you watched Jones. How would he not fit here? I'm not trying to argue that he's perfect, but genuinely asking what's the type of player he is? It just seems that considering Boston and us are bit quite similarly, that if the Bruins want him, he could work here too
