Listening to Carton #Losing There have been occasions where I've fallen asleep in the recliner while MSG is on and been wakened by that idiot. It's a nightmare. Just seeing him pose with his arm around the microphone makes me want to destroy the flat screen. I have to change the channel before I turn it off just in case he's on again when I turn it back on. Welp, now at least you have an answer to the question "Who the hell listens to this asshole?" It's HDH |

LOL, I love how trolling is the new word dujour around here. Any kind of dissenting opinion is apparently trolling. Is LisaLisa trolling the Trayvon thread because of how vehemently opposed she is to any opinions that defend Zimmerman? Annnyway, I never doubted the legitimacy. You asked for thoughts, I gave you mine. I have no thoughts on this because it doesn't matter. I do have thoughts about people who listen to Carton without feeling the urge to break their tv and/or radio. OMG TROLLING!! This post has been edited by SorryaboutthatWhoa: Apr 12 2012, 01:10 PM |

QUOTE Yeah, you're a moron who voluntarily listens to Carton. QUOTE Listening to Carton #Losing QUOTE Welp, now at least you have an answer to the question "Who the hell listens to this asshole?" It's HDH This is what you've posted on the topic.....how is this a "dissenting opinion"? I clearly asked for thoughts on the Mets conducting this ceremony, and you called me a moron. How is that not trolling? And I think Lisa has been debated. Did anyone call that trolling? -------------------- Maybe I get what you're saying, not that your argument is coherent in the least. - Brian Leeds

How is that not trolling? Dude, do you really want to do this? You aren't a Met fan. You came into the Mets thread with this story and then said this in the very same post: QUOTE BWhahahahahahahahahaha. Mets. When I jokingly said that my "thoughts" to answer your question were that I felt people who listen to Carton are morons ( an opinion I'm sure I share with many here) you responded, in a Mets thread: QUOTE I'm not a Mets fan. #winning I think it's kind of weird for someone who started a whole topic of conversation in the interest of trolling to bitch about wise ass responses back. |

The ceremony will be Bobby Jones, Al Leiter, and John Franco beating Chipper with bars of soap in tubesocks.

This is one of the most ridiculous ideas I've heard in awhile. Xdude, you need to separate any type of respect/recognition a fan base might give with an entire professional organization thanking someone for kicking their asses for 20 years. The Mets organization needs to gain some self-respect.
I doubt Fenway Park has a ceremony for Derek Jeter. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

Here's the quote from the team official: QUOTE “It was a conversation that went like this,” Dukes explained on air, “‘Will we acknowledge Chipper Jones’ career? Yes we will.’” It could be a graphic with his career stats when he comes up to his first AB in his final game! WE DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS! I said a 30 second to one minute video before his AB wouldn't be bad! I'm not advocating a full blown ceremony before the game! People care way too much about this shit! -------------------- |

And the counter to your point xdude is why, in any form, should the New York Mets organization make a tribute to a player on a bitter rival for 20 years who helped keep them away from the World Series for the vast majority of his career?
Again, do you think Red Sox fans would be okay with John Henry making the Sox show/give a tribute as an organization to Derek Jeter? -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

Again, do you think Red Sox fans would be okay with John Henry making the Sox show/give a tribute as an organization to Derek Jeter? If its just an acknowledgement of his career numbers and a moment where the fans clap him off so we never have to see him again its not a big deal in my mind. HDH was implying its a "ceremony" and something larger than that based on what he heard from the radio. If they have a fucking ceremony before the game and make a big deal out of it, I'd be livid! I just have faith that its really nothing more than a statement on the scoreboard saying "Congrats on a HOF Career Chipper." My ideal scenario: Scoreboard flashes with a small congratulations. Mets fans give him an ovation recognizing him as a great player even if we fucking hate him. Johan is on the mound and the first pitch is thrown behind him reminding Chipper its still a regular season baseball game that we want to win and he's a total dick for naming his son Shea. EDIT: Also like Nilan said, A "Fuck You Larry" chant is totally in order after. This post has been edited by xcdudesquadloves91!!!: Apr 12 2012, 04:36 PM -------------------- |

Okay. But you do understand the difference between what HDH heard and was later confirmed and fans applauding, right?
If it is anything more than a scoreboard message along the lines of what you suggested(Congrats on a HOF career) fans should burn that place to the ground. -------------------- "I think Greatone is one more JKman talent evaluation or 101 trade proposal away from going on a killing spree."

If it is anything more than a scoreboard message along the lines of what you suggested(Congrats on a HOF career) fans should burn that place to the ground. I'll even give them a 30 second video tribute leading up to that as the max I'll allow it. Dude, I posted what the team official said. They would "acknowledge" his career. There is no information given beyond that. All I'm saying is what I'd approve and is pure speculation. To me acknowledging it isn't a full fledged ceremony. The team official said "acknowledge" not "tribute." That's the difference I was trying to point out and didn't have issues with. My bad. -------------------- |

IF this is a ceremony involving some kind of plaque or something, I hope David Wright or somebody says something like "Fuck Chipper Jones", obviously not in that colorful of a sentence.
Listen, I am not saying it is THAT big of a deal, but I personally would be disgusted as a fan, especially given the chance that the Mets may be as bad a predicted. And it might be even WORSE if they are actually playing for something in September when this occurs (It would probably be Sunday, September 9th). Though, if they don't keep up this good play, there might be 14 people in the park anyway. -------------------- Maybe I get what you're saying, not that your argument is coherent in the least. - Brian Leeds

It's still not as bad as the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. I disagree. That tribute is to a NYC National League icon. The Mets are carrying the long NY/NL tradition. I don't have a problem with it. Sure he was a Dodger, but he was much more than that to baseball and the USA. The big complaint when it opened was the lack of Mets stuff throughout the park. And that thing when Gooden signed a wall and they wanted to take it down. But I think they've improved that since? |

Yet, if you asked Jason Bay what a home run is...he'd have no clue. Not even a descriptive diagram would work.

Wow! Just watched the Braves/Mets highlights . I thought you guys were exaggerating ,but Jason Bay really is a shitty outfielder. He's a shitty hitter, but he's actually pretty damn fucking good defensively? -------------------- |

I'm Ron Burgundy? -------------------- I can come to terms with the senseless violence, I understand that bad things happen to good people and that God doesn't intercede in mortal affairs in the way we might want him to, but what I don't understand is why he dyed his hair red. Doesn't the Joker have green hair? What, was Sally's Beauty Supply out of Electric Lizard Manic Panic or something?

I feel like if we made a movie about Frank Francisco's last few games it would be called:

David Wright on Jose coming back to Citi Field: http://www.metsblog.com/2012/04/23/wright-...s-reyes-return/
My favorite highlight: QUOTE [Wright] Reyes knows better than to drop a bunt on him and shouldn’t unless Reyes wants to go hitless.

Phil Humber is the 7th ex-Met to pitch a no-hitter/perfect game for another team. Mets still do not have a no-hitter.
