And now we're into "Heartbreaker"

my wife who likes Zep would still be HORRIFIED on how loud it is right now.

She's out for Happy Hour with the Corporate types...sucker!

I've been obsessing over NIN the last few days. Been all over the interwebs and the YouTube. Now I want the whole NIN catalog. I've always liked NIN but now I love NIN. I found this little bit of Trent's past on YouTube. Here's proof positive that yes, you can live down your past. Way, way down. However, some d!ck will find it and put it on YouTube for everybody to see.

Sat on the soundboard for Kings of Leon at the Garden last night. All I could do was smile as I kept looking up and all around at a sold out MSG rocking hard to a band that has had almost zero commercial success.

First time I ever saw a show on floor at MSG, and while I've heard about how that bitch shakes, this was my first hand feeling it. Hundreds of Ranger games all my life still doesnt constantly remind me that ice-level is 5 stories up. Kinda scary acually. The floor literally bounces up and down.

But the Kings, man did they bring it. Touched all their records, and just when I was sure they were gonna lose the place with a really old song they proved completely wrong.

Really really good show. Glad I saw it.

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my new turntable? wub.gif

Today I went out to my favorite used record store and bought "still in the wrapper" copies of Pyromania, High and Dry, Aerosmith "Rocks" and Kiss "Dynasty" and "Love Gun." For $20. This really is awesome.

I didn't realize he was going to be there - good to know. I'll have to see if I can make it down then (depending on what tickets I can find through brokers/craigslist/etc). I saw him at the Bank of America Pavilion (both the show that he left after a few songs because of his sore throat and the makeup show) - sooo good.

Meanwhile, I've been obsessed with this song & video lately:

I LOVE the old man in it.

Supposedly the scenes with the old man were from the Pet Shop Boys movie "It Couldn't Happen Here". I've never seen it, but based on that, I'm kinda tempted to try to track it down now.

Fans of the Black Keys should check out Dan Auerbach's new solo album. He's got the entire album streaming on his Myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/danauerbachmusic

The album builds so if you want to just leap in and listen to a single song, you might want to start with track three, Heartbroken, In Disrepair.

STP's 'Core' in its entirety - really was a solid(good not great) album beginning to end - maybe 1 clunker but nothing to ruin it...after that , they were a few hits singles here and there.

Definitely their heaviest riffs and bass lines - then , acoustic guitar and poppy riffs.

They are like a Tale of Two Bands..."It was the best of bands, It was the worst of Bands."

One of the guys I work with saw Testament over the summer and he said they sounded pretty good. I guess it just depends on what they play. They could still be pushing their new album which consequently isn't THAT bad but it's not the older stuff.

When I saw Priest on that tour they weren't so good. Halford is really losing his voice and looks like he can barely move. Heaven and Hell on the other hand, amazing.

Testament was good, but the sound was a bit muddy. Theyve had this issue 3 times in a row now.
Megadeth was shockingly good, like way better than that douchebag has any right to be.
When i saw Priest in Italy last summer they were excellent, this time not so much. Same set but they looked way bored and Halford seems to be wearing down. His voice was fine, still powerful but its obvious he doesnt try for certain notes anymore. He nailed Dissident Aggressor last time, but faked it this time. He seems very immobile, just stiff as hell even though hes still trying. Old age is sad.

What did MegaDave play? Mostly old stuff or are they still trying to pimp their new album?

I think two new songs, and 10 old ones, mostly the "hits". Testament played 2 new ones and the rest older, but not really the hits some were expecting, i dug it though. I may go to london to see them do the first two albums.

That's a shame. Probably way too much low end from too many sources.

Hah! laugh2.gif Love him or hate him or hate him some more, that SOB Mustaine has chops for days, and knows how to pick a band.

U2 - No Line on the Horizon

(Advanced copy)

My initial verdict? Fail.

The first few songs are okay, and Bono, singing wise, sounds better than he has in a long while, but overall the album is a bore - U2 going through the motions.

The first few songs are okay, and Bono, singing wise, sounds better than he has in a long while, but overall the album is a bore - U2 going through the motions.

Yeah -- They really have to fail hard to lose the likes of you and me Andy but, I started listening to this on my way to work this morning and it's really just no good. I even found things to like about the last album but just don't see it happening on this one. What really drove it home for me, though, was when I was discussing it with a co-worker and he said, "Let me guess -- They've become Coldplay." I thought about it for a second and replied, "Saying this really makes me want to slam my dick in a drawer but, honestly? Coldplay's most recent album is far more interesting than this."

This.

I think what happened was they got caught up in trying to sound relevant (like Coldplay) instead of just being U2 and really doing what they do best - great arena anthems with a hard rock edge (no pun intended) and envelope-pushing sounds and arrangements. Now, they're trying way too hard to sound "deep" and pretentious.

The Edge is even recycling his old riffs! And Bono's lyrics? I heard smack addicts garble better stream-of-conciousness stuff that this. Again, fail.

Still haven't really decided what I think about them.

Any good? I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. I'd like to get it soon, as I'd imagine that the show that I'm going to next month will be heavy on the new stuff - though when I saw him in '07, it was a good balance of Ringleader, older solo stuff, and Smiths material.

There's a big buzz about them all of a sudden. laugh2.gif You know if the album cover is cool, the music's gotta be great.

Just picked up Lamb of God's newest one, Wrath. It's really good so far. Blue, have you taken a listen to this yet?

Man, what the fuck happened with the vocals on Wrath. Blythe sounds like a shittier Devin Townshend.
