Aw, look at that. The single ray of sunshine in my baseball world since 2003.
I have been paying zero attention to baseball this winter. Have no idea who is projected to start for the Royals this year. I suppose I should read up a little, so i can be optimistic for a week or so. -------------------- Y'all laying up, doing shit. Nahmean, playing whatever little volleyballs they got on the beach and doing everything, the activities.

Yeah, let's dismiss his entire tenure with the Sox because a healthy Derek Jeter dove into the stands while a broken down shell of himself Nomah sat on the bench. In his 9 years with Boston, he had a .323 BA, .370 OBP, .553 SLG and .923 OPS so suck on that!

Busby was not very good for long but he did pitch 2 no no's. Cookie Rojas was a critical part of their early success as was Freddie Patek. These 2 guys were beloved by KC fans. Mayberry was a BEAST. Willie Wilson was a very good player for a long time. Quiz is a no brainer...(no pun intended) and AO was also a beloved player that was there when they were becoming a legitimate contender. And I have NO problem with Hal McRae other than he blew up Willie Randolph for no other reason than to hurt him. He was a really good player. The list is pretty good. Gura...eh, but again, he was a rock in their rotation. As was Dennis Leonard! Leonard was feared by the Yankees. A freakin' BULL. I think these team HOF things should be more flexible/lenient than of course the MLBHOF. So players who were favorites and just below MLB legends are justifiably included. My Yankee HOF would include Roy White and Bobby Murcer as well as Willie Randolph and Mel Stottlemyre. They were very good all star caliber players with long time service to the team, but of course not of the Mantle/Brett caliber. |

Their HOF has 23 people (the Kauffmans absolutely belong in there, bad miss on my part), and they've won one title, though they did have some excellent teams through the 70s and 80s. It's just a little ridiculous at this point. Mayberry was indeed a monster, but he had three big years, and was with the team for five total. Gubicza? Come on. He had one season where he won more than 15 games. It'd be like putting Tino Martinez or Jimmy Key in a Yankee HOF. At least those guys won titles. The Royals harp on those years because they have to, much like the Rangers harp on 1994.

Yeah...Gubicza was a tough call for me as I'm not a KC Fan and he wasn't relevant to my experiences...same with Montgomery. Mayberry had 6 full seasons with KC, but Wow...seemed a lot longer back in the day. Great player...clutch. Keep in mind that the numbers weren't as gaudy back then. With expansion and PED's...the stats have flown out the window since the 70's. Tino has 4 Rings...that goes a long way towards being considered a great Yankee. Key...1 ring, really critical part of that year...but no. |
