Poor Dubinsky. The guy must be sitting alone at his house just refreshing tweets and twitching his knee.

Nah, he's drinking that ginormous bottle of champagne he won for $5K at the rock of dreams benefit on Wednesday. I saw him outbid John McEnroe'sd equally ludicrous sum.

I actually going to be that if someone from the roster goes, it won't be Dubinsky. I say Anisimov or Hagelin. Have to sweeten it if not including Kreider or Erixon.

It almost has to be Dubinsky going the other way, just to offset some of the salary.

They don't need to offset salary right now. In the offseason yes, but not now.

Wow. Clutterbuck sounded pissed off in his tweet about the trade.

What'd he say?

They showed it on TSN saying something along the lines that Schultz was this whole organization.

Going pretty much exactly as I thought.

CBJ really messed this up. I knew the Rangers were never "out of it" Nash is involved now you say? I knew there was no way he didn't start applying pressure/

He was either getting Nash for what he wanted, or he wasn't getting him. An hour to deadline and Nash and CBJ start sweating instead of other teams bidding for his services and ring ring ring goes Glen's phone while he smiles with a Cigar in his mouth

"Hello Howson..."

Yeah, but CBJ can easily hold onto him until the off-season, too. What, he may be disgruntled and and unhappy for another 6 weeks? They're already a lock for #30 in the league at season's end.

Yes, but Nash said he wouldn't change his list of teams. I think Toronto and the Rangers are incredibly less likely to do something in July as opposed to now, and Howson has to realize this.

Quickly fading possibility of Nash to NYR, per Dreger.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is that a-hole Patrick.

Quite the contrary, I think the suitors would be more inclined to make a move in the offseason. Sellers can request more at the deadline because they have the power, particularly if there are more suitors. Offseason? Not so much.

Howson has never showed to be shy of pulling trades. All the sudden Patrick comes in and it's impossible to negotiate. Patrick pulled this trick in Pittsburgh by asking way too much from the Rangers for Jagr, but was okay to take a bunch of crap from Washington. It's Craig...F'in.... Patrick.

Seems kind of strange that they'd be setting up a press conference in Columbus other than to have Howson try to say "we don't know what you're talking about! We love Rick! We never considered trading him!"

With how poorly they've run everything, I wouldn't be surprised to see them try out this tactic.

You probably have to take that with a grain of salt though as they'd be trying to put the pressure on CBJ to make a move now rather than later.

If the Rangers go after Nash, it's to make a push now because as everyone has said there's no guarantee they are in this spot next year. The Rangers gave what was rumored to be the best offer and now Nash and his agent are on the floor kicking and screaming.

All the pressure is on Howson, Glen goes back to his first place club regardless and CBJ has to take a lower offer or put up with the baby and start this whole circus again in a few months.

Absolutely correct.

Remember when the Rangers were in on Heatley? Ottawa wanted too much and Rangers said "ok...we'll take Gaborik next month, buh bye". Now i know Michalek is having his first excellent season, but i think the Sens didn't get much from San Jose either.

He's got 20 minutes to fumble through his pockets. Seriously, right now the Rangers have the minimum 12 forwards on the team and not a single one more, and nothing worthwhile in Hartford to call up.

And now TSN is reeling trying to talk about why New York shouldn't and won't make the trade.

I don't think the Nash deal happens and I wonder if Sather is willing to stand pat because no one in the conference made a big move. Frankly no one in the LEAGUE did anything of note.

I guess I give Nash some credit if he (his agent) really is pushing this, because it means that he wants to be in the playoffs. I don't like how he loafed in Columbus, but I like the idea of a motivated Rick Nash in New York. Honestly, Dubinsky, Erixson, Miller and the Rangers first is not a terrible package. I still think Columbus gets hosed, but I don't see a better deal materializing ever for Rick Nash. He makes too much money.

No, that was me.

I was originally picturing a horse race finish line and trying to come up with a pony pun, but the image of Slats on a thorobred seemed like animal cruelty, so I went with Dash for Nash instead.

Honestly, Dubinsky, Erixson, Miller and the Rangers first is not a terrible package.

The Rangers offered one bona fide NHL player, having the worst season of his professional career, for an all-star in his prime. My criticisms aside, I can't fathom why Columbus would even consider that offer. How do you sell this move to season ticket holders?

You've gone from not being able to fathom it, to "it's not a terrible package"?

Can you let the guy get caught up in it already..

I'll take this time to remind everyone that deals will most likely still come in for about an hour after the deadline.

Deb Placey was already tweeting that things are backed up at the NHL offices, so we get some more time for drama.

Again, the fact that they have a press conference set up in Columbus intrigues me. Is it really just to talk about the trading of Paulsson?

Or are they going to have a love fest for Nash, throwing some confetti and maybe even bring in Altaki's clown to have a party

That's a decent pick up. I was hoping this would be the Rangers plan C.

Orrrrrrrrr, it could be to discuss why the potential trade that everybody has been talking about for over a week didn't materialize. When everyone's talking about Nash moving and you're actively shopping him, you kind of need to discuss it either way.

Same here. But then I read he had 9 points this year. Still, could have been a depth pick up if nothing else.

And it possibly could have been. Do you ever find out who put in a claim on waivers but didn't get it b/c of their waiver position?

What I do find interesting, you're not hearing about the Rangers doing anything else.

I have to think that either this trade is already done, or we'll hear about something else that was completely off the radar while everyone was sucked into Nash mania.

I just find it odd because Glen doesn't normally sit back at deadlines.

For what it's worth, I think the team is just fine as it is. I'm not overly concerned about them, and think the scoring could pick up. If they get Nash, that's great, if not, maybe Dubinsky steps up and all of a sudden the team has more offense without doing anything.

Watching tsn tradecentre right now and the analysts think that it is too late at this point for any Nash deal. Looks like it's happening over the summer.

Well TSN is already talking about Nash in June, so I think it's dead.
