I can't believe no one mentioned Kovalchuk being a healthy scratch tonight against Buffalo. At least, not in this forum.

So, is this the demise of the Devils? Winless at home. Shaky defense. Their all-star player becoming a healthy scratch. Cap troubles. No hot prospect. Brodeur showing his age.

Is this it?

Do we even ask the question: "How long will Kovalchuk remain with the Devils?"

Maybe it is way too early to have such thoughts, but i think one thing is certain. Johnny Mac lost his giddy-up, as Slats would put it, altogether. He will be the first coach to get fired, says i.

It's too early. Sure, they look awful right now but one thing we have ALL learned is that this asshole franchise can turn it around at almost any time. If they're 6-14-2 at the Thanksgiving break, then maybe it's the real deal but until then, they're still a threat.

They're starting a six-game road trip tonight where they go out west to San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles then have to go up to Vancouver and THEN to Chicago. This trip will make or break their season. Here's hoping for 0-5.

I'm with Blue on this. It's way too early to really judge anyone so far.

If it is, I'm taking full credit. I took Brodeur in my fantasy draft this year after he'd fallen into the 8th round. I felt I had to take him, but I still felt icky.

Yes, it was.

QUOTE(LisaLisa @ Oct 23 2010, 07:26 PM) *
FWIW, Joe is right. Kovalchuk isn't dressed for the Devils game. And a Devils player named Pelley just got hit in the face by a puck. Don't know how bad he's hurt yet.

And it's too early to make that big a deal out of. The Devils are not a "panic attack" type of club.

Mind you...it's a salary cap league. He's worth 200 on a cap of 1300. Craig Anderson didn't even get taken (also 200). Salaries are based on last years stats.

As per one of my Devils' fan friends, he got a tummyache after eating some bad clams. I don't know if he was just making up an excuse or not, but take it for what it's worth. Who really cares anyway?!!

Kovalchuk has as many or more points than any Devil (or Ranger, or Flyer), and in one fewer game in the Devils' case. Of course, you'd think they might have sat Langenbrunner or Zajac, who are off to worse starts, but without a distrust and dislike of Eastern Europeans, it wouldn't be the National Hockey League.

Oh, and the Devils sit him and they lose 6-1. McLean obviously has his finger on the pulse. He won't make the all-star break.

It either lights a fire under his ass or it completely destroys his faith in the team. Hopefully it's the latter. Tonight is a make or break game for the Devils. They lose this and they're starting a KILLER road trip 0-1. A win and there's still some glimmer of hope. The Rangers REALLY need to stomp their asses tonight and send their season down the crapper.

It's the Devils they'll figure something out. The season is far from over. I highly doubt that if they lose this game they'll be done. We're like 6 games into the season, if they are playing like this in December then they are fucked. Remember its also the Eastern Conference, no one is ever out of the Playoffs.

Devils fans are really ready to commit suicide right now. It's trade everyone and get picks in return. Funny shit. I want to see how many people go out to the games if they start out like 5-20-2.

Some Devil fans I know are calling for Langenbrunner to be traded. They're saying he's floating around out there, seems disinterested. Not being a captain at all, pissed he took 3 penalties away from the puck last night. If there was anyone Johnny Mac should have scratched it should have been him.
