He is an idiot. "We asked if he wanted to pitch and he always said yes!". Well no shit. You asked a professional athlete in a contract year and in front of his teammates if he wanted to pitch and he said yes.

This is the same BS line football/hockey coaches use when they are asked about a players health. "He said he was okay!"

He may be an idiot, but I still enjoy the hell out of his response to Cashman. That was excellent scouting and signing, picking up a guy who you view after two games to be "damaged"

Awesome job.

It only makes HIM look stupid. why did you sign him then? Give me a logical reason why you signed him.

Cashman said he knew the workload he was under. But that doesnt negate his opinion that the Mets could have used him better. I dont see the big deal here.

He stated that he was in the market for a LHP, Feliciano was the best on the market even with the workload concerns, but he feels that his injury is due in part to the Mets overuse. He is not saying that he didnt know how many innings he pitched etc.

And everyone league wide knew he was overused. I don't see the point in calling the Mets out on it NOW.

Here's my biggest beef. When other teams managers or owners call out the Yankees for ANYTHING, they go into full blown asshole defense mode and how dare yous. don't even get me started on the crap that went on after The Rangers beat the Yankees and people like Ryan started saying things. Oh god forbid.

But for Cashman to take a clear shot at the Mets. Well that's just okey dokey.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with other teams running their mouths towards other clubs, my issue is with the hypocrisy of the organization saying one season that they only worry about their club and will only comment on their club followed by shots at the Mets.

That's my issue.

Okay, so this is your issue. And its your opinion. And it has nothing to do with the actual merits of what Cashman said. Your just upset Cashman said anything.

Because he has a shoulder issue now? I'm sure when Cashman said it he wasnt in a state of anger or bitching about it. HE WAS ASKED if he felt the way the Mets used him contributed to the injury. He responded by saying, in his mind, yes it did since they used him at an historic pace. He is not claiming ignorance on his prior usage.

Its amazing to me what becomes a talking point nowadays.

I'm not gunna sit here and debate Feliciano wasn't "damaged" I think it's silly to more or less admit you signed a "damaged" player, but yes Jerry used the hell out of him at an infuriating rate.

It may be true that the Mets overused him, but it isn't against the rules, just like the Yankees spending a boatload of money isn't.

So if you don't want clubs running their mouths about your practices, maybe you should kindly return the favor. It was also pretty unprovoked. There was no reason to call the Mets out whatsoever. He could have made a point about Feliciano any number of ways and not been a dick.

Look I actually have no issues with Cashman and I'm loving his newfound honesty with the media and his almost don't give a shit attitude, I just don't see what point he was trying to make by mentioning the Mets.

I mean honestly, what was the point?

Greatone I'm clearly not gunna change your mind and vice versa.

I'll leave it at this. The Yankees spending a shitload of money isn't against the rules, and neither is starting a relief pitcher just about every single night.

The Mets didn't do anything wrong. It was stupid, but they didn't do anything wrong. Sorry you signed a guy after we had him Cashman.

Lol, Cohen, Ron and hernandez making jokes about Cashman's comments. Gary started it by talking about the marlins lefty not being abused followed by laughter and then Gary Ron and Keith all agreeing "the numbers were out there...why sign him and them complain about it"

Love these three.

I think later I'm going to make a lifetime movie poster showing feliciano wiping his brow in the foreground with an evil Jerry Manuel and earthen ghosted in the background.

After 3 seasons of abuse Pedro finally gets free of his abusive relationship with the new York mets and goes over to the Yankees and the loving care of Brian cashman (funny note, auto correct kept trying to make that say cash man) the Yankees come into citi field for a big showdown, but cashman isn't at the game to protect him and the history of abuse stars all over again!!!!

Listen, I didn't come in here to debate things like the alleged hypocrisy of the Yankees or that they spend money because it isnt against the rules. I came here to show that all Brian Cashman said was that he thought the Mets could have handled him better. He was asked the question. He answered it. You may not like his answer, you may not like his answer because he is directly or indirectly calling out another organization. Whatever. But what he said was not wrong. And what he is saying is not him complaining about not knowing about Felicianos usage.

Thats it. All the other stuff is static BS.

Are we done now? Get it all out of your system?
Because, you know, the Mets won today. And it was pretty awesome.

YEAH BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiii

It was pretty sick seeing them score 7 runs in the first 3 innings. WITHOUT Beltran and Bay!

Can't wait for Bay to be healthy!!!

I am done, but you say this like I was interrupting anyone from trying to talk about the game. Not a single post. Just sayin.

Watched the whole game, loved it. Looking forward to r.a. Hopefully proving me wrong and having just as good a season as last year.

Willie Harris is a bench player who's filling in until Bay is recovered. Santana will be back in late June.

I get a big kick out of the run the Marlins scored in the third being unearned for Dickey. He walked the batter, was credited with a wild pitch allowing the runner to move to second. Then it's a passed ball on another walk. Sac fly scores the run. Odd.

That sounds an awful like a Reyes run.

Speaking of which, Reyes needs to score more Reyes runs this season.

Wow. Was resisting the urge to post during the inning. This team would have just given up last year. Probably would lose it 10-0 too. Now its 7-7.

Did I mention holy shit? smile.gif

I remember that game when they scored the 10 runs against the Braves. My ex and I were going out and I just wanted to go because they were playing awful. But he insisted we stay and watch as they kept hitting and hitting...Glad he made me stay and watch.

All I want from this team this season is to be entertaining. That was an entertaining half inning.

Man I wish you guys could hear the AM sports talk radio here in Philly. It's hilarious.

I really could care less about the outcome of this game at this point. Showed some good guts tonight. Its the fifth game of the season. Good job.

I would like the last guy to make the team to you know not give up 4 runs in the first 2.2 innings he pitches. Opponents are hitting over .400 against him.

Watch your mouth. His beard excuses him from all criticism. ALL criticism.

Don't say anything, don't defend your yelling, don't apologize, don't say anything, just do not do it again.

My biggest worry in regards to Pelfrey is that his fastball is just dead flat right now (well that and his sinker not sinking). Kind of makes me wonder if maybe he only focused on getting his arm strength ready for the season during spring training, and didn't work enough on the command of his pitches.

xcdude, when you say you expect the last man to make the team... What are you expecting from him?

I guess I expected him to have a fire under his ass since he was almost cut and look much better than he has. I guess I was just pissed that the team doesn't give up an manages to erase a 7-0 deficit, and the first batter faced after hits a HR. I also am mad he stayed out there as long as he did, which is management's fault. Boyer historically has been bad against the Phillies (he had a 12.75 era against them coming into tonight) and just didn't perform.

Beltran is my favorite current Met, so I was really happy to see him hit two home runs at a game I got to go to. smile.gif
Hoping it's a signal he's back.
