Jets are trying hard to trade up to #4 in the draft to take Trent Richardson.

QUOTE
The Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow comparisons continued Tuesday night, but this one came from a Jets receiver who recently caught passes from the team’s quarterbacks.

Second-year receiver Jeremy Kerley did notice a contrast in one area.

"Different than Mark, different than Mark," Kerley told NJ.com about Tebow, who was often criticized for his accuracy with the Broncos last year.

"(Tebow's) ball comes out a little bit stronger, but he's accurate, he's more accurate than what I thought he was going to be. But he's a good dude, he has a great personality, he'll bring a lot of personality to the team."

Kerley was asked how significant the difference in speed was.

"A lot, a lot more velocity,” Kerley said at the NFL Pop-Up store on 41st Street in Manhattan. “No dis to Mark, [Tebow] brings it, man."

Not to dis you Mark, but this guy throws better. laugh2.gif

I'd feel bad for Sanchez as the whole world is waiting for the other shoe to drop (on him), but he's been paid millions of dollars and seemingly goes through an endless parade of hot women. Cry me a river.

And the Jets traded for rightackle Jeff Otah! If healthy he is a huge upgrade over Wayne Hunter.

Big day in New York sports.

So I browse over to the NY Post website, and the first two headlines are that Sanchez outplayed Tebow in the Jets first practice and Rex Ryan declared himself the best defensive coach in the NFL.

Give me a fucking break.

How you Jets fans aren't tired of this clown and this Tebow nonsense and the drama of whether or not Revis will hold out every summer is beyond me.

Why would we be tired of Rex for saying he is the best defensive coach in the NFL? Look at his track record.

And here is the full quote:

QUOTE(Rex Ryan")
"I look at myself as the best defensive coach in football," Ryan said. "That's saying something because [Steelers defensive coordinator] Dick LeBeau is pretty darn good. [Patriots coach] Bill Belichick's pretty good.

"But that's the way I've always believed. … I'm going to be more involved over there whether it's calling games or whatever. Obviously, [defensive coordinator] Mike Pettine that's my right-hand guy. He's always been my right-hand guy and that's the way it's always going to be."

And this is why we like him:

QUOTE("Rex Ryan")
"All the negative things, the fact that we're picked fourth in our own division by most publications, third some, it's like, 'oh really? OK.' That challenges me," he said.

"Any competitor likes to be challenged or bet against. Bet against me. This isn't the first time there's been people that don't believe in me for whatever it is. I'm going to come out and compete. I believe in myself. I believe in the men that I coach and I believe in the men who coach with me. That's why I'm like, 'we're going to be successful. I don't care what you think.' That's the case. If it was a spelling bee, I'd bet against me. Anything else, a fight, coaching football, I'm betting on me."

Today was the first day of camp, the media is going to write about Tebow because he sells papers. And after 24 hours Jets fans need to be fed up about it already? And Revis, the best player on the team, could have held out but didn't. I would think that is newsworthy. He also doesn't threaten to hold out every year. It was this past week potentially and two years ago.

Believe me, I get just as annoyed with Tortorellas "we're not there yet" and "we haven't accomplished anything" routine too. But in a town where you have coaches who have won championships handle themselves so well (Girardi, Coughlin, and even Terry Collins), it's offputting to me.

He could get the same message out there with a simple "we have something to prove, and I think we have the personnel to do it" or something like that. They took a step backwards last year, and camp is ALREADY a circus with this Tebow nonsense. Rex just unnecessarily adds to it.

I never want my teams to be the cocky jerkoffs Ryan wants his team to be. I want them to work hard, win, and act like you've been there before.

Sanchez gets it. And I feel bad for him.

This is the NFL...the Jets may need to sell a few seats, but that's not his job. And it doesn't make his team better. Wasted energy. Just coach the team and let your record speak for itself.

Relax guys. He already learned, remember this is his first head coaching gig, to tone it with the talking. No guarantees. No trash talk with other teams.

Give him a little more credit.

It's true. He hasn't trash talked other teams yet. Day 1 though got his juices flowing. His credit is dry on the talk though. Cash money only until he wins the big one....as a Head Coach.

Isn't he subtly trash talking the other coaches (Belichek, LeBeau) with his "I'm the best defensive coach in the NFL!" comment. Sounds like he's talking shit to me. I don't think he can help himself.

As a FOOTBALL fan...I would be equally confused and annoyed by Rex Ryan if he was with the Seattle Seahawks and talking about his self appointed status as an NFL defensive coach.

But I would post it in the Seahawks thread.

As a Giants fan it was fun watching the Giants smashing Rex and the Jets in the mouth after all the trash he talked about the Giants and the stunts he pulled last season, and just watch him and the team implode. That being said I'm hoping Rex, Sanchez and the Jets bounce back this season. I've enjoyed Rex immensely ever since he's been a Jets coach, and I'm hoping that the o-line can actually defend a bit for Sanchez to have a sliver of hope in the pocket. The dude had no chance last year.

I never hated the Jets, I never got the Jets/Giants fans hatred of one another. Maybe it's because I never experienced it ever growing up with friends and people that I knew that were fans of each. The only time I've witnessed the animosity is on this board, and videos on youtube.

Fuck Tebow.

08:06 AM ET 07.30 | So much for getting off on the right foot. Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow spent Sunday's practice looking like they were still dealing with rain-soaked footballs. The Jets practiced in sunshine Sunday after Saturday's rain-soaked practice, but both quarterbacks were erratic throughout 11-on-11 drills in the team's first training camp practice in pads. Sanchez finished 1-for-7 in team drills, failing to repeat his strong performances from the first two days of camp. Tebow also finished 1-for-7 in that portion of practice, including an action-packed opening series. He slipped and fell as he handed the ball off on the first play, then sailed a swing pass well over the head wide receiver Eron Riley in the left flat.

Awesome!

Nearly everyone has weighed in on the Jets trade for Tim Tebow in March, now including President Barack Obama. During a campaign stop in Ohio, Obama spoke to 97.1 The Fan in Columbus.

"I gotta tell you, I don't like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of a season, so if I was a Jets fan, I'd be pretty nervous," he said. "Sanchez is not Tom Brady yet, but he led them to the playoffs two years in a row. I think Tim Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man, and he's got just a great winning attitude. He really steps up when things count.

"But there's going to be a lot of tension in that situation," Obama said, "so it'll be interesting to see how it plays itself out."

There is not a QB controversy. The only people saying there is one is the Tebow crowd and the media to sell papers. The Jets and Rex have laughed off the idea of Tebow as a normal QB in the NFL. He will be a huge asset on special teams, along the goaline and as an H back. Perfect role for him I think.

Sanchez is showing how much of a leader he is with the way he is handling this. I hope he has a great year(obviously wont throw for many TD if he is pulled inside the 5) to shut everyone up. Love the guy.

A minute is a pretty long time for a brawl. What took so long to break it up?

I would assume breaking up 60+ NFL players takes a few seconds.

My same reaction when reading the article. I'm not sure which part of this story was news worthy, especially since they didn't use it as an excuse to work Tebow in in some way.

He was busy breaking up the bread and fish for the postbrawl snack. I'm very surprised it wasn't mentioned.

"Revealing yet another wrinkle in their plan to use Tebow, the Jets saw him sprint 20 yards in a Y route to help break up a fight"

The crew at NFL Live will dissect this formation at 430 PM.

Snippet from Curtis Martin's speech. It's a little dusty in here.

QUOTE
At my eulogy, I don't want my daughter or whoever it may be giving my eulogy to talk about how many yards I gained or touchdowns I scored. I want my daughter to be able to talk about the man that Curtis Martin was. How when she was growing up, she looked for a man who was like her father. That he was a man of integrity, a man of strong character, and a God fearing man. That's what I want.

Then at the end of the day, she could say, oh yeah, and he was a pretty good football player. Thank you all.

Fenway Park, in Boston, is a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark. Everything is painted green and seems in curiously sharp focus, like the inside of an old-fashioned peeping-type Easter egg. It was built in 1912 and rebuilt in 1934, and offers, as do most Boston artifacts, a compromise between Man's Euclidean determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities. - John Updike

The Jets are going to be the best cariovascular conditioned team in the league, what with them running all of those suicide sprints because they continue to fight with each other.

OK . So what's going on at Jets camp today? I was in the car listening to The FAN. Fatso was broadcasting from Giants camp and he teased it for later in his show today basically referring to it as Jets comedy show. I get crappy reception and couldn't hear much and I am not in the car right now.

And if you turn on Fox News later, they just might be complaining about liberals, too.
