Fine with me. Plus RA is going to be the opening day starter. Johan won't be healthy til May if they are being cautious. But then again I'm just excited for baseball, not optimistic about this team. I just like watching them I have fun with it.

Johan Santana has looked good through 4 innings today. I know its still spring training but he's expected to go 5-6 innings today based on pitch count. I don't think many people expected him to be able to do that this early in spring. Plus he is facing a Cards lineup with Molina, Beltran, Holiday Freese, and Berkman, so its not all minor league scrubs...

I heard Terry Collins on the radio yesterday and I swear...that guy is the most positive dude ever. I mean that in a good way. It's hard not to like him. I hope he gets some good luck in the injury department this year. The Mets aren't going to be a championship type team, but they could be fun to watch as a baseball fan if they are anything like their manager.

Josh Edgin is making a good case to possibly break camp with the big club this spring!

Pros: LEFTY. Solid fastball and curve. Is 22.

Cons: Hasn't pitched above High A ball. Needs to develop a change up. I'll say it again: hasn't pitched above high A ball.

My guess is he'll go to AA as he should, but he's striking out Major League Players and Wally Backman at AAA wants him if he doesn't make the big club.

Johan Santana has looked good through 4 innings today. I know its still spring training but he's expected to go 5-6 innings today based on pitch count. I don't think many people expected him to be able to do that this early in spring. Plus he is facing a Cards lineup with Molina, Beltran, Holiday Freese, and Berkman, so its not all minor league scrubs...

Just as an aside, I miss Beltran. I was one of the few who still appreciated him during all his stupid injuries and general decline. Then BAM last year he's back and we trade him. (Which I totally understand and had no objection to, don't get me wrong.) I wish we could have resigned him though. Of course, with the way our luck has been so far this year, he would probably have suffered a season-ending injury already.

I would have LOVED to sign Beltran again. He really was a great Met and an amazing teammate. Probably my favorite Met besides Piazza that I've witnessed. He was such a wizard in CF too.

As a note for today, Den Dekker is not ready to play in the bigs. The defense is there but he needs to go down to AA and prove he can actually hit. Valdespin on the other hand, could make the team as the 4th OF if there are still injuries (Which seem to be going away!)

It looked like that at the time. I'm so happy that Johan is the starter. He's been one of the feel good stories this spring. Also, the bullpen needs to step the fuck up. Josh Edgin probably won't make the team (like I said hasn't been above St. Lucie or high A ball ever), but Francisco, Rauch, and Herrera need to be good since Byrdak is starting the year on the DL. Parnell has looked like a pitcher which is nice, and Batista will be a good long reliever. Other than that, they need to get their heads out of their asses.

EDIT: Edgin to AA is official. Collins didn't look too much into Rauch's performance today. Byrdak may end up not being on the DL (HE HAD KNEE SURGERY 3 WEEKS AGO IM KIND OF IN SHOCK) which means Herrera will be in AAA.
