Am I the only one thinking that Gaborik coming back in November isn't the worst thing in the world? For a guy that is fragile, the less games he plays in the regular season the better in my eyes. At this point we want Cups, not fun regular seasons.

One less month of grind keeps him fresher for the postseason.

It could take up to six months, so it does not mean it will and at least four months will be gone with this summer.

I think getting Nash is starting to become a priority though.

I really don't think they can get Nash. Sather made it clear he was uninterested in trading the likes of Kreider, Stepan, and McDonagh at the deadline. Why would that position change now? More teams are also going to be in the mix this go-around. I just don't see how the Rangers can offer up a package that is both not detrimental to the young core and better than what everyone else will have to offer.

Ever since that nasty shoulder-boards collision early in the Ottawa series, he has avoided all physical contact. Gaborik recored hits in games 2, 5, and 6 of the Ottawa series and in both games of the Washington series so far.

He hasn't been shying away from contact at all. Perhaps he's just been shut down by the opposition's top defenders. Maybe that's why Tortorella moved him to the second line in the third period tonight.

Except that Callahan isn't an injury machine like Gaborik is.

So far in his career he's missed games because of:

Left leg injury
Abdominal Strain
Hernia
Groin a bunch of times
Hip Flexor
Back injury
Hip surgery
Right leg injury
Lacerated knee
Right thigh injury
Separated left shoulder
Concussion
Labral tear in right shoulder

I mean, he's been much better as a Rangers than he was with the Wild as far as injuries go, but at some point it becomes a matter of being reliable to play a full season and the playoffs. If this team is as close as they think they are, it's tough to make an argument that this is who they will have to lean on in the post season.

we can all agree they need more then what they have, even if gaborik is 100%.

as for being reliable to play a whole season, and the playoffs, its hockey. Who on our team has been reliable to not get injured?

dubinsky, callahan, Staal, boyle, del zotto, sauer?

all missed time due to injuries as rangers. callahan was out in the playoffs 2 years ago due to injury, and was pretty much a non factor against jersey this year.

HDH is right. Gaborik, with his injury history, cannot be relied on as "the man". At this point he's got to be considered secondary scoring or at best 1A.

very few teams have THE MAN. look at the teams that win... they have more then 1 offensive weapon, and they roll 4 lines.

agreed Gaborik has injury problems, but despite that he's gonna score 30-40 goals a year, will carry you offensivly, and open up ice for other lines, and yes, probably be banged up here and there. still though, to want to run him out of town is lunacy.

this might be a blessing though, because we need another big time player if we want to compete for the cup next year, and with this injury it might force slats to be a little more aggressive

the big question is who. Parise seems far fetched, and Nash is gonna turn into a circus.

The good teams all have a go to player when they need a goal. It's the player they double shift or play for the majority of a power play. Gaborik, if healthy, can be that guy but the fact is he has too much potential for injury. I'm not saying get rid of him but he can't be counted on to be there for 82 games + playoffs. He needs help.

I really don't think they can get Nash. Sather made it clear he was uninterested in trading the likes of Kreider, Stepan, and McDonagh at the deadline. Why would that position change now? It could be that he is sticking to what he said, but it could also be a mind game that Slats is playing, as he does often. I don't think that there will be many more teams in on Rick Nash. There is CBA uncertainty. He has a heck of a contract to accept, and he also has a short list of teams to go to. It also depends on Craig Patrick and his big ego. The difference between now and back in February is that Nash HAS to be traded.

Never underestimate what Sather can do.

Dude, say what you will, but darts is surprisingly compelling. My roommate and I were channel surfing late one night and found darts on NBC Sports Network and became strangely obsessed with it for a few weeks. Darts fans in Europe are fucking crazy. They just get hammered at these venues and do soccer-style chants and songs about players. Example:

You know something...you're right. There IS only one Phil Taylor. I don't know who that tool is in your avatar but he is most certainly NOT Phil Taylor. The one and only Phil Taylor is a Philthy Animal.

No. That Phil Taylor is an impostor. The real Phil Taylor is that "tool" in my avatar, and he's the greatest darts player in the world. You hold your tongue.

The original drummer of Motörhead an impostor? Pistols at dawn sir!

Hey, we get it - you called that Gaborik had a major injury and his critics in the playoffs now know why he wasn't performing as well as he should. No need to rub it in anyone's face. Just leave it be.

Remember that time I let that robber into the house, because he was dressed like Santa Claus? WELL YOU HAVE A GAMBLING PROBLEM!
