Before I forget again, the House finale? Meh. I would have preferred it if they left it before the "surprise" at the end, which I totally called btw. My wife will confirm this. Still, I'm not totally upset with the ending.

The thing I never understood about Quantum of Solace is, why is every single Bolivian in the movie part of the "silly hats only" club?

I shouldn't admit it, but Glee was a pretty good hour of television last night. For the first time watching that show it actually felt like high school.

Has any of the cast changed? As a high school teacher I have a hard time buying a bunch of 20 something actors playing high school students.

I'm so pissed they just came up with the Californians now that she's leaving. It's such a stupid skit but it works. The last couple of weeks in my office and at home "AAAH UHHHWHAT ARE YAOU DOING HUURE??" and "ahmaziang" (I have no idea how to type that) have been said regularly.

It really is. I think the most remarkable thing about it is how it works on so many different levels. It's weird and surreal and druggy, but can also be very sweet and light and straight forward. Sometimes it's very plot-oriented, sometimes it's about silly random stuff. The relationships between characters feel genuine without being overdone. Sometimes there's "moral to the story" plotlines, but they feel natural and not forced (hello, Community!). It's just so unique, too. The world they inhabit is mysterious and illogical with bits and pieces of a backstory now and then, but it's never really a focus, either, which would spoil that mystery.

I'm hard pressed to think of other shows that are so well balanced and potentially appealing to all sorts of ages and tastes. The Simpsons in its heyday is all I come up with.

Unfortunately. sad.gif But at least it means there's a solid plan in place for the story. Also, I had no idea JK Simmons was Tenzin until I was browsing IMDB 5 episodes in.

The wife had me watch water for elephants last night which is what made me want to watch Basterds again. He is s freakin good in this movie. (waltz) I forgot how much of a movie this is.

Quentin really knows how to make a movie. I can't stand him in front of the camera, but he's great behind it.

The wife had me watch water for elephants last night which is what made me want to watch Basterds again. He is s freakin good in this movie. (waltz) I forgot how much of a movie this is.

Quentin really knows how to make a movie. I can't stand him in front of the camera, but he's great behind it.

Have you caught the teaser trailer for Django Unchained yet? It was supposed to be released today.

Watched it earlier, looks good.

A lot of music feels way out of place.

What? It's Johnny cash and then James brown. Cash sets up the tone nicely and than brown reminds you it's a Tarantino flick. Being that the James brown song being played is "the payback" and what the plot seems to be for the movie, I'm not sure I understand your point.

I know we disagree, a lot, and this is a topic that's subjective and based on opinion, but I think you're just wrong on this one.

Prometheus is a great looking, but a total letdown. Fassbender is great though. Thries to do too much while offering you so little back.

When I watch the trailer in the movie theatres all I can think of is "Alien" .

You don't see how James Brown in an antebellum movie might be anachronistic?

But it's in line with Tarantino's style. He's stated how blaxploitation films of the 70's are a big influence in his career and this has that feel to it.

This is true. And this all made sense in films that were either direct blaxploitation films (Jackie Brown), films from a similar time (Grindhouse/Kill Bill), or films with a similar theme (Pulp Fiction.)

It feels at odds with the terminology and accents used by the actors, though, particularly DeCaprio. If you want your characters speaking old-timey but use music distinctly reminiscent of a different old-time it falls apart.

It looks like a revenge/buddy flick with the usual Tarantino flair kinda like Kill Bill, only this time set in old west. I don't have a problem with this.

Well, super short shorts and a tank top are in line with Richard Simmons' style, but if he ever does a Deep South western full of accents and old style dialogue I'd hope he'd at least tone down the glitter.

That movie was already made - see the "Western-Style Bar-Bee-Cue" scene in Black Shampoo.

When I was in high school, I think that I blew through the entire Blaxploitation section of my local Blockbuster in the course of a few weekends. Black Shampoo was definitely a highlight.

SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!

Also, if you can ever find The Black Six, that one's probably the best outside of the Rudy Ray Moore catalogue.
