I had to watch it on a stream (FUCK YOU CUMCAST), but that was a really fun fight. For the first time in a while, Brown looked human. Aldo, surprisingly, was superior in every way. I didn't count on this, but it was a great match-up. Like Faber, Aldo is one of the fastest with his hands, and Brown just couldn't compete with his speed.

I'm not huge in MMA in a sense that I'll plan my day around seeing a fight but ever since I began watching Faber has been my favorite. I hope he heals all of his injuries that occurred in his last fight against Brown and come back and win his belt back. He's a beast, broke both of his hands early in the Brown fight but still hung in there long enough to make it to the scorecard if I remember correctly.

He's a beast, broke both of his hands early in the Brown fight but still hung in there long enough to make it to the scorecard if I remember correctly. He badly broke his fourth knuckle on his right hand in round two and then sprained his left thumb, but yes, he went all five rounds and lost by unanimous decision. So he essentially fought for twenty minutes with two bum hands and was still able to defend himself well enough not to outright lose. He's scheduled to come back in early January. -------------------- |

Jose Aldo established himself as an MMA superstar tonight. He's clearly going to win fighter of the year and Brown was trying to establish himself as legendary with a win tonight. Not only did Aldo win, but he ended it early and probably won the first round too. An impressive and almost easy win over one of the best, amazing.
He's only 23 years old too. He can hang around in the WEC for a while getting more experience, but he's clearly the best right now. As he fills out even more I can't wait to see him in the UFC. He has the skill set to beat BJ Penn, he just has world class talent. Speaking of that, with all the injuries the UFC should call up the WEC. Cerrone v Henderson and stars like Faber, Aldo, and Brown could definitely headline PPV events in the future, they are exciting fights and they have some good personality's as far as the stars of the WEC. It's going to happen eventually anyway, the WEC is going to act like the minor league for the UFC for now, but will all these injuries in the UFC it would be an interesting time to merge. |

Maybe, maybe not. The WEC showcases much lighter weight-classes than the UFC. Faber, Brown, and Aldo are all incredible fighters, but they are all 145 lb "featherweights," a weight class that doesn't exist in the UFC. For the UFC to adopt the WEC as its "minor league," they'd need to add a featherweight class to the UFC or all these fighters would have to bulk up and gain a weight class... And who knows how well they'd perform against those much stronger opponents. Anywho, I'd love to see an Aldo/Faber fight, as they both use a very similar style of quick, aggressive combat and both are very proficient at grappling. KOD, I think that as Aldo matures, he'll be moving to 155. The kid is most likely still growing. It might be a couple of years away, but he'll likely grow into challenging BJ.
