Wow, haven't started a game thread in awhile.

Apparently there's a chance Dubinsky will return tonight. That's going to be determined in the morning skate.

This is just baseless hope, but I bet the return of Dubi helps goal scoring a lot. Besides a couple games where they couldn't get it going in Western Canada right before his injury, they were scoring close to 4 goals a game with him in the lineup. I see him letting Torts spread the scoring around a bit more and maybe separate Prospal and Gaborik to even things out a bit and maybe get Vinny going again.

Higgins-Dubi-Gaborik
Prospal-Drury-Callahan
Avery-Anisimov-Kotalik
Irrelevant.

Go Rangers!

I have an event for my internship tonight - but hopefully I'll have a nice win waiting for me on the dvr. Hopefully.

Or maybe tonight's the night Torts doesn't wait till the locker room and just kills someone on the bench and hurls their severed head to center ice and Pony does his postgame in a snuggie while crying into a Tre Kronor jersey.

I don't know what to think of this team, and this season, if they lose again tonight. I'd give up and hope it sucks further so it hits top five in the draft.

If Dubi returns then he has to show energy. I don't expect him to score, but show some energy on the forecheck, please.

Drury should score tonight.

But either way it's a win because both would be entertaining!
And I bet Henrik would make a snuggie look hot. Especially a hot pink one.

Now, my pre-game drink of choice on the other hand ... hmmm ... how about Johnny Black?

Sounds like no decision on Dubinsky yet.

Would be fitting he comes back a night I have to work, though.

So Andrew Gross (a gross record) reports on Twitter that if you're betting on dubinsky playing, bet the house:

I really don't think we'll see an efficient shooting Dubi for at least another 2-3 weeks. That hand's gotta be playable, but not reliable yet.

He reportedly said on one of those links I posted that he can shoot and pass fine. It's face-offs that are questionable.
And apparently he'll play with Higgins and Gaborik. But if he can't take face-offs or needs a break, who does it? I'd rather see Prospal (who would drop to the second line with Drury) stay on that line or Dubi play wing on Drury's line if it's unclear if he can take face-offs for a whole game yet.

I like the idea of breaking up Gabby and Prospal. Gabby's gonna get his, and Prospal is probably the best passer we have and maybe can set up Drury to get the stones off his hands.

Dubi coming back will hopefully be huge...If he can't take faceoffs, Higgins has played some center, right? Maybe not at a first line level but it's better than nothing.

I love Lisin's quote from Gross:

“There’s a nice square. It’s red. That’s why it’s red. You have to go there.”

For the Rangers, they need to add "and don't shoot it wide or into the goalies chest."

Yeah, let's break up the only two players who have anything resembling chemistry. I don't understand Torts' reasoning.

Well yeah. Ideally they would stick together.

But this team has scored more than 2 goals once (3 goals) in it's last 8 games. I won't object to splitting the two most talented forwards to see what happens for a game or two/a period after Tort's doesn't like what he sees hah.
