There is no guideline on the amount of time that has to be taken to hire a new manager. And I don't think there is a powerful "minority hiring" rule in baseball, unlike the NFL.

I wonder what they were referring to then. They were basically saying that you can't fire a manager and just hire another one in baseball because major league baseball requires teams to have an interview process that is supposedly timely. It was basically "get the idea of manuel being fired and bobby being hired out of your mind because theres a long interview process that teams have to follow"

eh whatever, obviously it isn't there but it makes me wonder what the people were talking about.

OK how'd the Sox piss off the baseball gods? Last night Pedroia fractures his foot and just now Bucholz pulls up lame on basepaths w/a hammy. They lose these 2 for a few weeks ? Not good! Good for Yanks though.

Anddddd, Victor Martinez makes it the trifecta! Molina hit a foul off his foot.

Fenway Park, in Boston, is a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark. Everything is painted green and seems in curiously sharp focus, like the inside of an old-fashioned peeping-type Easter egg. It was built in 1912 and rebuilt in 1934, and offers, as do most Boston artifacts, a compromise between Man's Euclidean determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities. - John Updike

Tonight I got the pleasure to see Josh Hamilton smash a homerun over my head. It was the 2nd farthest homer in that stadium ever, and the farthest non-steroid induced homer I have ever seen live. The farthest I've seen was a 505ft shot from McGuire at Shea during a double header. Hamiltons ball was CRUSHED! As soon as it left the bat I knew it was a homer and the thing was FLYING towards me, then eventually over my head and into the 2nd tier some 60 feet behind where I was sitting. When I lost sight of the ball it looked like it was still traveling up. 468 ft shot.

Josh Hamilton is a badass. I miss the guy in Cincy, but Edinson Volquez was worth it for him.

It was bound to happen that Arthur Rhodes would have a bad outing. His 33 straight scoreless appearances (30 innings) tied the major league record.

But yeah, Votto is awesome.

1. I wonder who replaces Chase Utley since he's on the DL and out for something like 50 games.
2. I would have picked Pelfrey before picking Reyes from the Mets.

I've been so out of the loop so I'm just checking in to make sure the entire roster is still on the DL? Yeah? Okay, cool.

I looked at the lineup the other day and actually said, "Who?".

Shit, did anyone see the highlights of St. Louis-Colorado last night? The Cards were up 9-3 in the bottom of the ninth and the Rockies scored nine runs; five with two outs. Chris Iannetta hit a 3-run HR to cut it to 9-7 and then Seth Smith won it with a 3-run HR of his own. Absolutely unreal.

Fuck St. Louis. uhhh6861b.gif

I genuinely hope that Francisco Cordero gets hit by a bus tonight. Not hard enough to kill him, but just hard enough so he can't pitch for the Reds ever again.

Fuck you, you worthless, fat piece of shit.

That giant, smoldering hole you see in the Louisville area is my heart. Over the last three nights the Reds have ripped it out of my body, stomped on it, urinated on it, shot it repeatedly, and nuked it to kingdom come.

I'm gonna take a little break from the Reds after the All-Star Game. Not giving up on them, no way. They're gonna rebound. But I think we need a little space to get to know ourselves better. And I just need to recover from the nightmare that has been our series with the Phillies.

Go Redlegs.

FWIW: My brother (well, his voice anyway) is supposedly going to be in an upcoming ESPN 30 For 30 production dealing with Bill Buckner and Steve Bartman. One of his friends is the head of the production company that's putting the film together. They ran into a problem where they couldn't find any good audio of people calling in to sports radio following the Buckner gaffe, so Mike's friend asked if he and a couple of his friends would make a few "dramatizations" of such calls.

So what does this do in terms of value of your autograph?

Fenway Park, in Boston, is a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark. Everything is painted green and seems in curiously sharp focus, like the inside of an old-fashioned peeping-type Easter egg. It was built in 1912 and rebuilt in 1934, and offers, as do most Boston artifacts, a compromise between Man's Euclidean determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities. - John Updike

Hope you know winning the home run derby can be a bad, bad, bad thing.

Like Ortiz could get any worse than he was in the beginning of the year. This is not some young guy in his prime that is going to be on the Red Sox for the next 10 years.
