Hi all,

Not sure if we have any other ruggers on the board, but Fordham Prep is looking to restart their rugby program. If anyone would be interested in coaching boys high school rugby at a fine Jesuit institution, (though not as fine as the one I attended), PM me for contact info.

Probably obvious but...
Union or league?

Union. As far as I know, there aren't any Rugby League high school teams. (There is a small, but growing, Rugby League men's league in the US, though. http://www.amnrl.com/)

That league is going through some tough times right now, all but 4 teams split to form USA rugby league.

I hadn't heard about that until now. It looks like the Philly/South Jersey area teams kind of spearheaded the schism, leaving the NY/Upstate/CT teams in the lurch. Considering how the NY Raiders have been kind of a "work in progress" since their founding, this really only leaves AMNRL with 3 established teams. The fact that the new, breakaway league is planning on calling their NY/NJ area team "The Knights" seems like a real slap in the face to the NY Knights of AMNRL, too.

EDIT: My mistake, the Aston Bulls stuck with AMNRL, while New Haven went to the USARL. I guess there's no regionalism in the split, though I think the head of the Fight will be the head of the new League league.

Cypher, do you play league?

Not in any organized form but when I get 6-10 people together I teach them some basic rules and just play. I've also done this with union and once with cricket.

Also I watch both codes of rugby whenever I get the chance as I find it more exciting to watch than NFL football.

I play Union. For the weekly airfare I'd be happy to play for your team wink.gif

Not sure if the Prepsters are up for sponsoring an English lad to play rugby for them...then again, if I could get some kind of finder's fee out of all of this, I'd be happy to start bringing British ringers over to play high school rugby in the Bronx.

Well, rangerland is fast becoming a hotspot for Brits, probably quite a few playing union.
