Alright, so my wall calendar says that Pitchers and catchers are 5 days away from reporting, and my Dad and I just bought a 15 game plan (looks like I'm only going to be able to go to 8-11 of them) and I'm excited for baseball to start!!
I think the Mets will win around 85 games. Hopefully Santana will be back by the All-Star Break, and screw the Madoff situation!

Its got to be better than a Braves fan. Like last year... Plus We're guaranteed to win at least 8 games, as I'm undefeated at Citi Field

I had a family member from Philly offer me a straight up bet that the Phils will win 20 games more than the Mets. I had to think about it. I don't think the Mets will even sniff 85 games. I'm guessing 75. That means the Phils have to win 96 (I said I'd make it 20-1/2). With the Braves in the division, that's a LOT of wins. Interesting bet that I'm not going to take, but it sparked a pretty in-depth conversation.

As down as I am on the Mets, I would've taken that bet in a heartbeat.

Carlos Beltran: Healthy
Jason Bay: Healthy
Jose Reyes: Healthy
K-Rod: Healthy
Santana: Will be getting healthy
Look this team isn't great, but injuries ravaged this team the past few years, if these guys stay healthy they can win 6 more games than last year. they won 79 last year, how is 85 so out of the question? They didn't take a step back.

But either way I agree with Whoa....would of taken that bet in a heartbeat.
Why would one think the Mets will win less games than last year? If Bay and Beltran can get back to their average numbers they should win more games.
85 is definitely doable and with some over achieving who knows.

There's a lot of "ifs" about the Mets this season. Plus we don't know how some of these guys will bounce back from injuries. And it's not like Carlos Beltran is some spring chicken either. Being older and coming back from the injuries means he's going to be a step or two slower. We saw that already last season. And you can't count on Santana being the master of the universe returning from an injury.

Good. I'm glad someone finally lit a fire under his ass. I'm really fucking excited for Spring Training. After going to some workouts and some games two years ago I've always wanted to go back. I probably would with some friends if I weren't locked in for Crew for Spring Break. Its a great time to be a fan, because you know what ANYTHING can happen. I know I have a little more hope for this season than most people here, but I fucking love being a Mets fan.

It's not that graphic, besides isn't that what Mets fans routinely do? Edit: I was going to post the scene from "The DaVinci Code" where Silas tortures himself but I figured that was bit extreme and besides only Islander's fans do that.

Yeahup. We stand around in the streets blindfolded beating our backs with spikes until it is nothing but pulp and blood. Hanging out outside of Citi-Field is basically no different from the Egyptian protests. We punch journalists and the NYPD comes in with hoses and tear gas.
I routinely put on my Mets jersey and run over shards of glass and then pound the bottom of my foot with a hammer.

Leave it to the Mets to start a protest that does NOT spread to other baseball stadiums and topple ownerships. Mohamed Bouazizi is not proud.

I am still hoping the team can be competitive until Sept but....
After thinking about it the theme this year will be...
Let's all have great first halves so then we can trade you to the highest bidder...especially those guys on their last year of a contract!! !
Our AAAers vs. Your AAAers! Except its Manny Acosta blowing a tie game in the 9th inning. Why is this so poetic for our first game that doesn't even matter?
