Josh Freeman and Bam Bam Cam. But I have Mendenhall, Turner, and Fred Jackson as starting RBs. My two WRs are Mike Thomas and Mike Williams (with Dez Bryant Hurt).
Yeah, I would do that trade in a second.
I always feel a little sick to my stomach when I pull off a big trade. I just took a big gamble and traded Jones-Drew for Steve Smith (Carolina.)
My entire WR core shit the bed this week and it killed me. I've got some interesting potential on my bench but I need some consistent starters if I'm going to compete. On the other side of the coin, I've got three very solid number two running backs in Best, Bradshaw and Starks. MJD will likely heat up but, for his first two weeks he's putting up number two RB numbers rather than acting like a true number one. After getting burned by Cedric Benson last season and Forte the season before, I have that sinking feeling that MJD is just going to deliver a season full of inconsistency and disappointment. I figured I would try and get max value for him while I still could. Meanwhile, Starks is getting better week after week and Best just put up a monster game so there is the potential that one of those two will start putting up consistent number one numbers.
I tried getting Megatron back for MJD but that owner was not biting. Steve Smith has not had a real quarterback throwing to him the past two seasons. I'm gambling that Cam Newton is the real deal and that this season will mark a return to greatness for Smith.
Anyway, we start three WR with no flex so that weights WR's a little bit more. Here's what my team looks like after the trade:
Brees, Drew QB NO
Best, Jahvid RB DET
Bradshaw, Ahmad RB NYG
Smith, Steve WR CAR
Jackson, DeSean WR PHI -- Hopefully Vick won't be out too long and last week was an aberration but you can see why I wanted to make this deal.
Manningham, Mario WR NYG -- Starting to look like a bust year to me. See my bench for other options and, again, part of my motivation for making this trade
Davis, Vernon TE SF
Henery, Alex K PHI
Saints DST
Bench:
Fitzpatrick, Ryan QB BUF
Starks, James RB GB
Ingram, Mark RB NO -- I will be pleasantly surprised if he develops into the sleeper everyone thought he was. NO platoons too much for even a great RB to put up decent fantasy numbers
Burress, Plaxico WR NYJ -- Riding my bench until he starts putting up consistent numbers
Nelson, Jordy WR GB -- I like anyone Rodgers throws to and Nelson's had two good weeks now but all of his points last week came off one play
Moore, Denarius WR OAK -- I'm excited about the potential here.
Decker, Eric WR DEN -- I'm a little more skeptical here but you never know
McCluster, Dexter WR KC -- CBS lists McCluster as a WR and says they will not be changing it! With Charles out, McCluster could potentially start putting up RB numbers in a WR slot!
Cobb, Randall WR GB -- First in line to be dropped next time I have to work the waiver wire.
The really big question is who do I start in the number 3 WR slot this week? It's kind of a ridiculous situation. Maybe I'll get the Who Should I Start thread going.
If some of those question marks on my bench start producing consistently, I will look to put together some sort of a package for a new number one running back.
