I think we may finally be getting it next month:

QUOTE
NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Like a home team win in overtime, Verizon, at last, expects to be able to offer its FiOS TV subscribers the channels of the MSG Network in high-definition in the coming weeks.

In September, the Federal Communications Commission ruled that MSG, which until recently had been owned by Cablevision, was out of bounds for refusing to sell Verizon the HD formats of MSG Network's two regional sports channels in the greater New York region. Last week, that decision was upheld by the commission, and a stay of the decision was denied by a federal appeals court.

The HD feeds of both MSG and MSG+ are ultimately expected to be made available to FiOS TV subscribers in New York City and state, northern and central New Jersey, and Connecticut. The two channels will be included in all levels of FiOS TV service packages, except FiOS TV Local.

The company expects the channels to be available in mid-December

Too good to be true.

Probably, but it is the most promising news I have heard on it. Key word is "expected" in mid Dec. I'm optimistic about it though.

fucking a. this was holding up my switch FOREVER.

Finally!! (Assuming it's actually true this time.)

What about out of the metro area? I live in VA
Rick91981
I assume it would only cover areas that already have MSG.

Also, there is now a Dec 13th hearing to see if Cablevision can proceed with an appeal. So it will drag on a little longer it seems.

Anyone keeping up on this soap opera and know where they're at with this? I saw some old news that some appeals got denied, but didn't know if that was before that 13th date Rock mentioned was set or after.
Rick91981
Cablevision has a hearing on Tuesday Dec 13th at 1pm to try and get a stay issued. If they are granted a stay, then FIOS will not get the HD channel anytime soon while it goes through the system. Keep in mind that every part of this that has gone to court so far, CV has lost. They are fighting a losing battle, but by appealing they keep delaying things quite a bit. If the stay is denied(which it likely will be based on the fact that the arguments CV filed are nothing new than what they have already brought up in the past and lost) then FIOS will have HD by the end of the month. Even if the stay is denied, CV can still fight further but they will have to share the channel while they are fighting it.

We should know more by Tuesday afternoon but so far the official word directly from Verizon is still "mid-December". They have not changed that yet so they must be pretty confident.

Its coming. Depending on your area our could be as soon as tomorrow

We've got it too. Husband text me yesterday after I told him about the day I was having. "Cheer up, we have MSG in HD now!"

And then last night's game happened. Oy.

I have Direct TV. Love it.

If I lose service for 5 minutes (EXTREME weather), I call them to complain.

Always get a rep in the US. That is essential for me when I call ANY big company.

They bend over backwards to make me happy. The 5 minutes without a picture often results in a month or 2 of free HBO. Polite conversation with the rep has never failed.

When Versus had a dispute with Direct TV 2 years ago, and I could not get games because of the dispute, I made a call to complain.

After asking to speak to a supervisor, I ended up with a $350 credit for missing games I could have seen, and might miss in the future. The dispute ended 3 weeks later. Still got my $350.

Now, call Verizon on internet problems. I have them for my internet service (not FIOS, to be honest). You ALWAYS get sent to a third world country. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HELP! They refuse to let you speak to an American agent. HORRIBLE!

Do not sign up for Verizon Fios HD MSG until you know you will be connected to agents in the US if there is a problem!

Simply because Direct TV employs Americans in their customer service section, I would never leave them. Sick of companies that get tax breaks to send our jobs to other countries. Fuck them. Verizon is one of those companies, at least when it comes to routing my calls about internet service. Not sure where FIOS calls are routed, to be honest.

Not happy when my calls are answered by "Peggy." Are you?

No but I'm happy to be watching MSG HD currently. Just because I can.

This has nothing to do with the thread.

But to counter your argument, when I had called Fios( tv issue only, internet has been flawless in the 2 yrs I've had it) I got an American person who was exceedingly helpful. Turned out that a channel that wasn't coming through was due to a loose connection at the ONT in the basement. The tech was able to walk me through running signal diagnostics on the STB and determine it was not getting a strong enough signal. After troubleshooting and going to the basement and double checking the connections I was able to determine it was loose. Tightened it and my issue was solved, eliminating the need for a tech to visit.

justagrip is reminding me a little of brf88's EA shill position. THE FACES ARE SO REAL!

Time Warner might be pulling MSG after New Year's Eve if they don't reach a deal.

FUCK EVERYTHING IF THAT HAPPENS!
