So by now most of us know about Dolan running his mouth yesterday, but all of you are missing the real tidbit of information we should be discussing here

Glen and I made a pact, I actually gave him something which I won’t reveal what it is. I said you can’t give it back to me until we win the Stanley Cup. And I think I’m pretty close to getting that thing back.

I mean, what in the world could it possible be?

It's something that he gave to Sather, that I guess Sather wouldn't want because he can't give it back until they win a Cup?

It's the dumbest pact ever.

it must be Marsellus Wallace's case. Butch brought it East after losing his LA privileges... Don't ask me how Butch got it. shiftyeyes_anim.gif

Does Dolan even have a ring?

I could be wrong, and maybe I should just look it up, but I don't think Cablevision owned the Garden and their tenants until after the 94 cup win?

http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-his...ny-History.html

Meanwhile, Cablevision bolstered its presence in the New York sports scene through the early 1995 joint purchase, with ITT Corp., of Madison Square Garden from Viacom Inc. for about $1 billion. Included in the Garden operations were the famous 20,000-seat theater; the MSG Network, a regional sports network; and the National Basketball Association's New York Knickerbockers and the National Hockey League's New York Rangers.

Reason for EDIT - looked it up. I guess if Dolan has a ring from 94, he bought it from someone.
ak996
Well he has exhibited the desire to try and buy championships before.

Huh. I thought they were in charge before '94. In that case I change my vote to a snowball.

Ha! I had actually thought the ring was an excellent and very legitimate guess, but then curiousity got the best of me.

My apologies for putting the "smarty pants" on at your expense.

Cablevision was the third owner of the Rangers by the time the 1995 "season" got going (thanks for nothing, Lockout of 1994!)

Paramount was the owner of the Rangers at the time they won the Cup. Did everybody forget the ads all over the Garden for the TV shows on UPN? And did everybody forget the elegant, white-haired man in the tuxedo who held the Cup aloft on the ice? He was from Paramount (and apparently I've forgotten his name which I've never forgotten before. F*#k!). Viacom came right after, or possibly during the Cup Finals. Months later, Viacom was sold to Cablevision, so when the Rangers finally raised the banner, Cablevision was the owner. And we've been facked ever since. uhhh6861b.gif

Gutkowski, I believe his name was. He was actually the guy who, according to Barry Miesel's book, got Keenan and Smith to chill the fuck out and work together on deadline day in '94.

Exactly. According to this archived article from the NY Times, Viacom purchased Paramount and to pay off the $97B debt it assumed with the purchase, turned and sold MSG to Cablevision.
