Just received email from NYR informing me of 2012 playoffs and 2012/2013 season tix prices.
I am in the 300 series section and currently pay $59 per seat (I have 2).
-For 2012 playoffs, the cost per seat for 1st round will be $105.125
-For 2012/2013, I have been relocated to 2nd row (current seats are in first row). The upper bowl 1st row is premium seating cost and have to call rep for change. My seat cost has gone from $59 to roughly $79.30 per. That is a 25 percent increase. Total cost for next season is $6503. This may price me out.
Edit: bad math, hike is 33 percent.

Mar 5 2012, 01:23 PM
oof. If my tickets go up 25% as well, then I'm looking at close to 100$ for the pair. Yuck. This may price me out as well.
EDIT: Jack, does the letter say the prices are locked or are they still subject to change? If they win the Cup this year, there's no way they're increasing ticket prices by only 25%. So, best case scenario is that they win the Cup with me being at the Garden for the Cup clinching game so I can take pictures of the team on the ice with the Cup. Then I'll turn to my ticket partner and tell him I'm done splitting a full season with him and will buy only a couple of games here and there.

'Taki,
The tixs prices are locked. Securing playoff tixs by March 16 and season's by March 29, gets you the 10 percent discount on season tixs given last year. First payment is due May 11, 2012. The bill can be seen in your online Rangers statement.
I'm confused.
We're being told that we got moved down to 211. This section is lower but behind the circles in the corner where the Rangers shoot twice. As many of you know, I currently have dead center ice in 423.
My buddy is calling our ticket rep now. I DO NOT want to be moved down, to a corner, and to the opposite side of the ice. We have 10 years in these seats.
All this so we can get sushi and a lobster roll at the Garden? Fuck that.
They are pricing themselves out of the market. Nobody cares about hockey. All they will have are visiting fans who can afford to lay out the money once a year.

They just don't give a fuck any more. When I had seasons in section 440 I think, it was where the boxes are now they let you pick where you wanted to go at least.

The upper bowl is being called the new 200 level. I have no idea exactly where I am being relocated. email says they have tried to maintain present line sights. My rep is busy and not responding to emails or calls.

Mar 5 2012, 01:59 PM
We're not getting any preseason games again, so we're only paying for 41 home games correct? HOLY SHIT. My tickets went up to $53 per ticket, up from $39. That's over 30% increase.
FUCK YOU JIMMY DOLAN.
Yeah, basically an increase of $1000 PER SEAT for the season.

Can you imagine if the team goes deep in the playoffs in the next few years? Or even, eek, a S_______ C________? No would be able to afford a game ever again.
Jack, is there a new seating chart for next year's garden?
We may be looking at the current chart.

They are out of their minds.
One of the few pluses of the Mets being terrible is I can go see them play for 1.25 a ticket in the upper deck.
This reminds me, I need to start digging now for playoff tickets...I will see my first live hockey playoff game this year.

I just went to the Mets website because individual tickets went on sale today. Wanna sit in the upper deck for a Mets Yankee game? $50. Nevermind, the Rangers prices look downright amazing in comparison...
Ok, disregard being moved.
Just talked to the rep, and he said we are basically staying center ice. The seating chart they linked to is the current one.
Nonetheless, 1600 to 2175. Geez.

I'm always amazed that anyone affords the lower bowl in anything. I guess I get the Yankees and Knicks, btu who the fuck is shelling out 60K for the Rangers? How many companies have clients that give a shit about hockey?

Just spoke to my rep. New seating for 300 and 400 levesl should be approximately same location as today. The email sent to subscribers today has link to your seats. 50 percent of current aisle seats holders were lost. My seast are now 3 seats over from aisle.
The front row seating is called the Gallery. For my area, the cost is $125 per. More towards center ice cost you $150 per.

No. The link we got is the current chart. It says 211, but 211 is in the corner right now.
I like the fake-ass seating naming too. What was essentially the 400's is now the 200's. Wow, we got 200 level seats now!!! Well, no we don't. We have 400 level seats that are now called the 200's.

If they were to make it to ECF or SC, the toatls cost will probably run you same as season package. As much as I may want to, my household CFO will not go for that
Clarification: My bad, the 10 percent discount is applied to playoff and not season's tixs.

Not really though. That's assuming they have home ice in every round (possible) and they win every round in seven games. The ECF and SCF are expensive per ticket, so even having only three games per round saves a few hundred bucks.

First three rounds of the playoffs will cost me $3825. My full season cost me $3198. Since my ticket will cost me $78 per seat in the first round, I'm going to guess that for the SCF it will cost about $150 per seat. So $300 for two seats * 4 games is an additional $1200. Add that to the first three rounds and at $5000 for the playoffs, that's more than my next season ticket prices. Fuck success.

Not to change the subject here (please, keep on complaining), but since the topic of season tickets came up, I figured I'd mention this here. I am thinking of getting season tix, which I have never had before. I would probably only be able to go to about 10 games or so a year, but would love to have the tix when I want them, plus have first dibs on playoff tix. So I have 2 questions:
1) How easy/hard is it to sell the tix that I would not be using for at least face value?
2) What's a better choice for selling tickets - stubhub or ticketexchange?
Thanks.

1) Easier if they're playing well. Probably not going to be easy at these prices.
2) I've only used ticketexchange and have had mixed results. Granted that was last year and not this season. This season I was able to sell off the tickets to friends without having to resort to ticketexchange.

1. This year has been much, much easier than in the past. I routinely can get rid of tix, and they often sell almost immediately after posting. The last few seasons, however, have been pretty tough, so you shouldn't plan on always being able to sell. Divisional games, especially around the holidays, will always sell well, but other than that it's no guarantee. I ate a fair amount of tix in seasons past, or given them away for free here. My seats are the current Section 311, which is along the 8th avenue blue line.
2. StubHub is much, much better in my experience. They do a much better job of advertising, so they get a lot more traffic. They also let you post for less than face (TicketExchange does not), which can come in handy when the Rangers are having one of their typical mediocre seasons and you have to try and dump a mid-week game against Nashville. The disadvantage is that StubHub takes a 15% rake, where TicketExchange only takes 5%. Also, the TicketExchange interface is much easier to use - it links right up to your subscriber account.

I can't speak for 409 specifically, but in the substantial conversations I've had, the Garden did a pretty good job of keeping people in the general vicinity of their previous seats. I think the price jump and significant moves would have driven A LOT of folks away.
