You know, maybe the NHL should stop the re-emergence of clutching and grabbing because THIS is the kind of hockey that will bring back fans.
I feel like I'm selling my soul a little that I'm not only rooting for Philadelphia, but New Jersey too. It's amazing what happens when I have the Rangers in the postseason and the soul mission isn't to merely see mutual misery from our rivals.
You know what's funny is Philly looks like a team right now that could sweep Pittsburgh, but completely in all ways lose their mojo if they dusted off the Pens but then had 9 days off to come off the emotional high.
With that said, I think this is going at least 6 games, but even if Pittsburgh turned this around, I will say there's a chink in the armor. Their defense has now played pretty brutal hockey for almost 3 weeks now.
In the past month they've given up 3 or more goals in 10 of their past 15 games, including over 4 five of those times.

And there's still at least two games. Someone can get hurt. Can you imagine a scenario where the flyers are closing the series, a last period where they are 2 or more goals ahead? Shittsburgh will go outta there to destroy and vice-versa.

1. Burn their city down whenever they lose big games. 2. Whiniest mothers ever (though Rangers fans can be up there) 3. History of booing the US anthem 4. Think the 1994 series was rigged in favor of the Rangers

It's bizarro world in Vancouver. Luongo is personally keeping the Canucks in this series. I thought L.A. was a bad match-up for them, but seriously?
The seeding looks reversed right now. L.A. is beating them in almost every facet of the game. If the Canucks go down fast, these fans better not give poor Lou any crap.

Alex Burrows really needs to get his knee taken out. Big scrum in front of Quick, and he uses that to his advantages to start short jabbing the goalie incessantly. Keep doing it buddy. It's been proven over the past two games the Kings can beat the crap out of your team within the rules, so just keep it up.

Holy shit was that Pens /Flyers game batshit insane!
2 things though. 1) As mentioned, both goalies were terrible. 2) Neither team seems at all interested in, or capable of, playing any kind of defense. They're relying on offense to get through this series. If the Rangers wind up playing either of these teams, they feast on that. The Rangers are capable of shutting down any offense, and, when they get the forecheck going, create havoc on weak defenses with incessant hitting and a strong cycle. They've got 1 line that can get in ahead of most defensemen, another that creates chances off of strong board play, and a third that is making a habit of just crushing guys. If they keep their forecheck going, I like their chances against anyone in the East. Boston would be a tough match up.

I think that the 40 minutes showed that the Panthers can beat these guys. The heavy trap in the 3rd was very hard to break, but the Panthers can beat this Devils team if they come out swinging. The first goal is key against the Devils. You want them to play offense, not defense. You also hope that the refs don't fuck it up by calling a ghost 4 minute penalty that made no sense what so ever, but this Panthers team cannot play these games as if they were regular season games 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88. Some players looked nervous (Weiss) but now the playoffs jitters are out of the way.
We'll see what happens. I am more confident that they can beat the Devils, but i also am not sure what kind of Panthers team will start the game. Devils are really just not that good.

YESSS!!!!! I wish it could be like a best of 11 series!
The BAC was not a sell out last night, but the less expensive seats were filled up and the crowd was insane. I've been to Panthers game since 2004. I've never seen this. If Tallon can manage to continue building this team to make the playoffs on a regular basis, South Florida has something quite special.

Pittsburgh sure looks like they'll never lose again. Including the regular season they are now 6-6 in their last 12. It was also a great time going out drinking with a group that had a Pens fan and a Flyers fan. Talk about momentum shifts throughout a single game for trash talking.
