I'm sorry..
But to me those hits are extremely similar. Neil was looking to injure there. In that positioning, there was no need for him to even come remotely close to the head. A nice driving shoulder to the midsection was more than doable, and would have done the same to drive him to the ground.
This is just continuing the nightmare for the Rangers. How is that hit by Neil any less an intention to injure than Hagelin's ill-timed shot on Daniel? How is Hagelin, who had no prior record either suspended 3 games? It's just more maddening inconsistency.
I don't care. I will go overboard. If the referees and the league won't protect Ranger players, then I hope we use Stu Bickel to just go and mug Chris Neil. In fact, let's just have Rupp go after one of his linemates. Maybe we can get TWO third man in's! It seems to the NHL that type of goon hockey is only worth between $2,500 and a 1 game suspension so why not?
The NHL's treatment of situations involving Boyle in this series have been an utter disgrace.
Maybe it's my disappointment in the Rangers, but I swear, these past two weeks have made me LESS of a hockey fan, and I blame the NHL for that. Bettman will never come out and say it, but he'd much rather have Game 3 of the Pens/Flyers every night than a good 3-2 overtime game.
