I created a Rangerland league with Yahoo. 12 team limit with a live draft on Sunday, August 10th at 8:30 PM. I have some extra stat and player categories like in the league last year but not as much. As always, if enough people want something changed then I'll change it.

Do you have defense? I really had fun with that. I could see not going crazy with the stat changes last season like I did, though. It was a fun experiment, but all fantasy football stuff out there is written for standard scoring.

4. (37) Brandon Marshall WR
5. (60) Greg Jennings WR
6. (61) Kellen Winslow TE
7. (84) David Garrard QB
8. (85) New England DEF
9. (108) Josh Scobee K
10. (109) Will Blackmon DB
11. (132) Ebenezer Ekuban DL

13. (156) Felix Jones RB
14. (157) Joey Galloway WR
15. (180) Alge Crumpler TE
16. (181) Aaron Rodgers QB
I'm not playing that team. That's a fucking disaster. You had a responsibility as commish to make people aware of the draft. Sure, I'll take my share of the blame for not realizing the draft was AUGUST 10TH, but when the date is so early, a reminder or 10 would have gone a long way.
I guess I'm dropping out. If anyone else who missed this draft wants to make another league, let me know. If not I'll just join a public league.

I just dropped every good player on my team to waivers and picked up 13 kickers. I have no QBs, no DEF, no WR, no D players... I'm gonna make it a dummy team. Sorry guys, but I was sitting around all day with a cold, I easily would have been there. But no reminders here, no Yahoo emails, who remembered? 4 people?
We can't even get a reminder post on the boards from someone as the draft is going on and there are lots of no-shows? So just consider my team an instant win for you.
Here was our draft day thread last year:
http://rangerland.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2035Posted days early with the draft date in the title as a reminder, a recap of the rules, multiple mentions of the draft time and to show up early. 60-some posts.
This year, no draft thread, hell, not even a post in ANY thread, "Hey guys! Draft soon!" Or, "Hey guys, draft started!" Really would have been nice if one of you decided to be helpful.

Look, you all knew ahead of time when the draft was going to occur. When you signed up for the league it informed you that the draft was tonight, August 10, 8:30. If you had a problem with the draft time you had about three weeks to bring it up. Don't blame the commisioner. This is a ll pretty lame.
Last year I missed the draft because my apartment was broken into the day of the draft and I had no computer, thus the team name "Getaway Car". I was rewarded with what looked like a boat load of fuckness. I played the hand I was dealt and did pretty well. I haven't checked the league page yet, but if you dumped all of those players Pete, like you wrote, that's really really dissappointing.

I'm holding the kickers now because of the people who were at the draft tonight couldn't think to make a simple post on the boards, "Hey, where is everyone? Draft started!" Kusand managed to find the post button when the draft was over to rub it in, but couldn't seem to locate it an hour and a half earlier. And that's fine. He or none of you who showed up tonight were under any obligation to remind the rest of us. But if we're going to make this THAT competitive and unfriendly, then by league rules I'm allowed to have 13 kickers. I'm not breaking the rules just as you guys who were at the draft yet couldn't remind the rest of us weren't breaking the rules.
You really should nuke the league and start over like Leeds said because what's the point of a league like this when the majority didn't even get to choose the team they want? But if that doesn't happen, I respect that. At the same time, when people could have reminded us the draft was on but chose not to, don't expect me to be a nice guy, either.

First, we should find out how many of the 12 people are happy with the league and how many aren't. That would go a long way towards finding a solution.
I'm not happy with it and want a re-draft. Assuming Leeds still holds the same opinion, that's 2 who want a new league/re-draft. 2-0.
If the majority are happy, then cool, I'll release the kickers and put together a complete squad. It'll suck and it will go 0-16, but so would have my Yahoo-picked team.

I did IM RedHerring when I saw him online. I didn't bother posting here because I generally regard the boards as a slow way to notify anyone of anything; I figured if you weren't at the draft, you weren't online for the boards either. I'm willing to redraft as it sucks to have people already basically dropped out before the season starts.

When you signed up for the league it told you the date and time. In this thread the date and time were posted. Why people act surprised that the draft was on August 10 I have no clue.
Does it suck that you missed the draft? Sure. But Yahoo did a decent job of drafting and with some moves here and there you would have had an acceptable team. If you felt like you needed to prove a point by dropping your entire roster do us all a favor and leave the league. A handful of guys missed the draft or showed up late and are working with what they got -- not throwing in the towel.
I believe 5 or 6 managers out of 12 did not show or missed part of the draft. If the majority of the LEAGUE wants to re-do the draft then thats fine with me. But bring that point up and have a discussion about it before throwing a hissy fit and dropping your roster for kickers. Thats just stupid IMO.

It won't make a difference in the end. If the majority are happy with the way things are, then I'll drop the kickers and build a dummy team to leave there the rest of the season. If we decide to do it over because more than half the league missed the draft, then it didn't matter anyway.
You're not exactly an easy person to work with. So without me pulling this little power play, we wouldn't even be having this discussion, you'd just tell us tough shit. And I'll be fair about it. If the majority likes the league as is, I'll go along.

I'm just curious why yahoo did not send out an email the day before the draft like they usually do. That is what I go by. I love playing fantasy football but I cannot remember 3 weeks from signing up that there is a draft. Yahoo is supposed to send out an email reminding us and they failed to.
I am happy either way on the re-draft. But before this gets settled I would like Pete's team to be put back. Commish has the power to do so, so please do. I would rather have a competative ghost team) commsih can sets pete's roster each week) than everybody getting an easy win. I Wouldn't want it coming down to me and say batshit fighting for the last playoff spot in the final week of the regular season where I face pete's team for a second time this season and Batshit actually has to play somebody. On second thought...... nah seriously, but Pete's team abck until this is settled.

Voting yes on the re-draft, only because the draft is usually my favorite part and, as much as I acknowledge that I did know about the draft time, more could have been done to ensure better participation, especially since the draft was held so early in the season. And I say that with a pretty stacked team from Yahoo (basically every recovering cripple that understandably dropped five to ten places). I'm not blaming people, just saying that there is plenty of time to correct this and relieve some of the unhappiness. I'm only playing one team this season and last season was such a fun experience that I'm hoping not to go into the year already sour.

I am in favor of a re-draft. Like Kusand said, I totally forgot as well (except for that nagging feeling I had all day but couldn't remember) but I jumped in in time for my 3rd round pick. I'm not unhappy with my team, but my RBs suck again and I'm sick of playing that guessing game. The league isn't ruined, or I wouldn't have done it. I was just trying to wreck my own team, and at first I was just picking up scrubs, but I decided to be a little comical about it by taking the kickers and re-naming my team. I was even going to make a CNN-like graphic "KICKERS HELD HOSTAGE". If people liked the league as is, the kickers got dropped back to waivers and it had no effect on the league. So don't tell me I'm trying to ruin the league. I was messing with my own team, which was garbage anyway.
That said, it doesn't seem like it matters anyway since re-draft has basically won already.

Another point on my kicker joke supposedly 'ruining the league." Let's say I got hit by a meteor and never was able to release the kickers as promised. What would happen? In that ONE week a season people needed another kicker because their main kicker had a bye, they'd have to pick up another kicker off waivers than one of the ones on my team. There are still more than a dozen kickers out there. So, I'm not sure if it would have any effect at all. If I was trying to ruin the league, I'd have taken all the QBs or RBs, not a comical position like kickers.
So, really. While I make no bones about trying to ruin my own team (it was going 0-16 anyway even if I didn't touch a thing), I was not trying to ruin the league for everyone else. Don't pin that on me.

Really? How am I such a hard person to work with when this is the first time I am running a league with members of this board? A minority expressed an interest in some possible rule changes and I put that up to vote. When the league was created I asked for anyone to voice any concerns with the draft time. And I said that if the majority of the league wanted a re-draft I would do it. So give me a break with the BS, Pete.
And for everyone in the league can be accounted for, I ask that you go to the league page and post if you want a re-draft. Easier to keep count etc. 7 yes votes means a re-draft.
