I think it was Cliff who said it best a few years ago - and I'm paraphrasing - Coldplay write music for PBS documentaries.

How can I mope about Oasis when there's J-pop around? Japanese pop by Japanese ladies! Super Happy Fun Time Now?
Puffy AmiYumi pops it up. I don't think ABBA ever sounded this perky.

You disappoint me sometimes facepalm.gif I'm still soul crushed and you've already moved from britpop to jpop. I'm deeply saddened.

FINE! Now I'll have to do a thread bomb of Oasis to prove I'm not over them!*

Besides, it's not an official break-up and I'm trying to remain hopeful and optimistic that this is a temporary setback and will blow over in a year or two. Or three or four.

I was reminded in an e-mail last night of Puffy AmiYumi and I looked them up and found they were in Paris this year for a Japanese festival, or convention or something. A little J-pop never hurt. biggrin.gif I can haz a happee? hellokitty.gif

*Fortunately for you Oasis-haters, I'm at work and can't actually do this.

Coldplay are so boring, I can't even muster the energy to hate them.

Coldplay?

Some really soulful and melodic jams played everywhere, all of the time, until you want to puke. And then album after album of nothing more then the same old drizzle. Drool comes out the corner of the mouth and the brain fails to process anything.

When lucidity returns you thank Coldplay for siphoning out some brain cells and lowering your ability to comprehend.

I can't help thinking that they've done this so many times before that this is acutally the real one. I know I'm not prepared for this shit either. FUCK YOU OASIS WHEN YOU ARE PISSED AT EACH OTHER GET THE FUCK ALONG.

I'm reallying loving this song. But I'm not sure about the band yet. They have a lot of...love songs, it seems. Ewwww. Don't know if I can handle too much of that.

I heard "Slam" by Onyx the other day...there were some pretty awesome one-hit wonders in the rap genre right around that time. "All For One"/Brand Nubian is definitely in that category.

I've been streaming WFUV at work all day, and it's been non-stop Beatles, group and each one solo, and covers, all day. (Just heard Ben Folds doing "Golden Slumber.") Their songs are so ubiquitous, and I thought I was familiar enough with the catalog. But I've really gained an entirely different appreciation of them listening again as an adult.

Probably my fav from the Foxes. Great tune.

Listening to more British rock...my coworker just advised me that it's a little risque video so yeah, potential NSFW.

In a Stone Roses kind of mood today.

Great Northern's new album Remind Me Where The Light Is.

If you like that song you'll like this album. I'm totally addicted to it right now. It has kind of a 90's vibe to it, in a good way.

Here's an accoustic version of another great song off that album:

I've heard this song every day now on Alt Nation and it's grown on me. The Sounds, from Sweden. Like The Killers crossed with Missing Persons, good throwback New Wave tune.

Some might know them from their previous hit in the Geico commercial.

I am really liking We Were Promised Jetpacks myself. There is a decent amount of really good Scottish bands: WWPJ, Camera Obscura, Frightened Rabbit, and of course the all powerful Belle & Sebastian.

Nice -- That must've been a great show. Fightened Rabbit's new album is really good. One of my favorites of the year. It has kind of a Spoon vibe to it. (Which I suppose makes sense as Brit Daniels produced.)
hoser
I'm drunk,...tooo drunk to find the drunk thread. We were promised jetpacks, best band tonite IMO. I paid $15...worth it just for them. Anymore than $20....meh. They were cool, down to earth and fun. Chatted with them afterwards in the crowd. Humble, thankful guys. My only complaint was they didn't play Moving Clocks. Twilight Sad, if you like their music, they sounded good but wow, pompous, cheeky mofos. absolutlely no stage presense and the singer would just stare into the crowd as if expected everyone to fellatiate him. Frightened rabbit sounded good but couldn't understand the singer at all.

Rufus, check em out when they're in town.
rightbug
I should mention that I was also confusing Frightened Rabbit for White Rabbit. White Rabbit's new album is, confusingly, titled It's Frightening. That's the one I've been digging this year.
hoser
I'm a sucker for cute Asian female musicians...
