Mastodon is, hands down, the best metal band out there right now. Everything they do is fucking great. I don't think I've heard a song from them where I said, "Eh...it's okay". It's all good. Who's better than them? Lamb of God? A few years ago I would have said so but their latest album didn't do a whole lot for me. I still love Randy and co. but Mastodon is just the epitome of the current progressive and post-thrash metal scene. I have to put Blood Mountain in now.

I looooooove Spotify. I have a mix of my favorite 2011 songs in a playlist, and it just sounds perfect on random play mode.
Bleedin-Blue
Mike, this is you:

Pantera was awesome. Their album covers are criminally underrated. So is every metal song. Ever.
Bleedin-Blue
HA! Dude, if you're gonna go that direction than you should have used the gayest picture of Pantera EVER:

Rocha
Woo! Bad metal covers!

Bleedin-Blue
One of my personal favorites:

Why is the judge a shark?

Oh and the reverse:

Nice shoes, guys.
Rocha
More! More!

Ezymeat has just become my new favorite word.

They should play a double-bill with Skweez Cheez.

Also, if you're going to call your band "Chores of Evening" you'd think that the barbarian and his girl would be washing some dishes while Satan there takes out the trash.

He's a regular shopper at the Trader Joe's I used to work at on Long Island. Unforch apparently he was an evening shopper -- my shifts were always early-morning. sad.gif

Whatever. I still love Eminem, okay?

xcheck24
Jen, you reminded me I wanted to listen to the newish album.

Also: Started listening to the new REM album. I actually kinda like it.
rightbug
I'm in a remix kind of mood.

Sadly, the Internet has obliterated all traces of one of my favorite remixes -- Ian St Laurent's remix of North American Scum.

I've had that song in my head all day.

It's about fucking time you listened to something decent. Shit, I think I have to go upstairs and dig this CD out of the pile.
Bleedin-Blue
Fuck you, Mike. Thanks to you, today is gonna be nothing but early 90's classic hip-hop day now.

Okay, I take that back. It's definitely not a bad thing. It's like 7th grade all over again!

This shit is fucking nuts. And by nuts, I mean amazing. I think.

If the voice sounds familiar, it's because it's Butterfly from the Digable Planets.

Butterfly started up a new project about 2 years ago, called Shabazz Palaces. It's similar in spirit to Digable Planets, but much crazier and trippier. Some really great sounds.

The The - This is The Day.

Matt Johnson was a great lyricist.

Don't know how to embed...

Went to see the Eels at the Music Hall last night, and while their (his, whatever) studio work is uneven from what I know of it, they fucking killed it live. Great show, energetic crowd, kick-ass band.
Mike B.
Also, going to see Lykke Li tomorrow at Central Park. She's so great.

Fuzz
If you like Clutch, this is their other band.

Thanks sed, i just finally found that tutorial. My life is changed forever.

For those of you who dig the hardcore scene, check out Fucked Up's David Comes To Life. I can't get past the vocals personally, but the music under it sounds great.

Running with some Manchester Orchestra this morning.

So you've mentioned... name-dropper..

Kusand
I'd be down for the Passion Pit/M83/Architecture in Helsinki stage.
Fuzz
Doomriders is the shit.

That whole event though, reminds me of how bonnaroo kinda feels now- Like a whole lot of people forced together by music that they generally use to get away from said people.
Nilan 666
I'd go for the Hot Snakes and Public Enemy. I've seen Slayer 16 times already.

I've never done a big festival and likely never will. I've said it here a few dozen times - Roseland Ballroom is the biggest I get and I'm not happy there.

Doomriders is indeed the shit.

Finally getting a chance to give Kurt Vile's record a spin, and it's awesome. Like if Thurston Moore actually cared about making somewhat melodic music.

hoser
Seen these guys a bunch of times live. They were on Kimmel last night. Their album, Arrows, is worth checking out.

LisaLisa
Dont' know where to put this, so I'll put it here. Anybody got a Spotify invite they can toss my way?
Kusand
Manchester Orchestra's Simple Math is killing it for me right now.
